  1. You're quite welcome! :yes: Oh yes we also sent in copies of envelopes addressed to us and copies of cards with little personal notes written to us. Do you have any credit cards together? We photocopied ours. Also my Father passed away this year and I sent in a copy of his obituary with my husband's name in it as 'leaving to mourn'.

    My theory is ..."It's better to be looking at it than looking for it!" (in other words, 'more is better')...lol Good luck again

  2. I see what you mean....bio or interview!!! In the corner of my letter it says ASC Appointment Notice, but in the letter it says, "To process your application, the USCIS must capture your biometrics". We have to go to Portland, Maine where we've been going for the past 2 1/2 years for appointments and bios.

    Do I have egg on my face!! :blush: Oh well it's still faster than I thought!! So I'm happy with that.....lol... :innocent:

  4. Hi there, it's been quite a while since I've been on here. We live in the country so we can not get High Speed!!!! We were on Dial-Up then tried Verizon Wireless (cannot get in my area :crying: ..we were without Internet a spell....So we're back to Dial Up

    Anyway, my Removal of conditions is January and I haven't even started anything. My question is.,...As I am working , will I have any problems not having my removal done in time. I am sending it in this week. Can I still work? Probably sounds like a silly question, however, the process for all this is so long and tedious, I'm never sure of anything.

    Hope everybody is well. I'm still homesick and I have been here 2 1/2 years but I still married the greatest guy in the world. Love going back home whenever I can,

    Love-Live-Laugh.....................MarieAnastasia

  5. I was wondering what you've been up to girl! Glad to see ya back on here! :)

    Sorry that they're being pains in the butt where you are (that surprises me a bit about Maine, actually, sorry to hear you have been havign a rough time), but keep at it, one of these days they'll figure out what they are missing ;)

    Thanks Cassie, it's nice to be back! Don't get me wrong..nobody has been rude to me ...they just don't go that extra step....but I shall overcome all that when I get to work. I have the love of my life so I'm very blessed...........................{{{{{HUGS}}}}}

  6. I kept my maiden name and hypenated my married name to it. My passport is in my maiden name. I always keep my marriage licence with it. We married in May 2006 and i have been back and forth to Canada many times and haven't had a hitch yet! When it's time to renew my passport I will put my maiden-married name just like everything else I have......bank accounts, credit cards etc. So far so good!! And good luck to you...

  7. Hello Everybody...it's been a long time since I've been here. My old computer would crash every time I tired to reply here. We just bought a new computer this week...but we're still on Dial-up (only thing available in our area!!!). I see a few familiar names here. I've always loved reading the forums. Visa Journey certainly helped us along the way. Here's our story in a nutshell.....

    Bruce (USC) was vacationing in Newfoundland (my home) with his buddy, Jack in June 2004. A bunch of us had a little welcoming for the guys (as Jack used to be stationed in NL back in the 60's). The first time I saw Bruce there was a connection but he was leaving the next day. I told Jack to email me to let me know they got back okay. He did and told me Bruce said HELLO and gave me his email address. We corresponded back and forth, then he had a $900 phone bill and got the US to Canada telephone package...lol. Bruce came back to NL in October and we knew it was the real thing. He kept coming back every 4 or 5 months, and I went to Maine a couple of times. He asked me to marry him in August 2005. We stated the K1 Visa process in November 2005. Got married May 16, 2006 and live in Maine. Got my Green Card in February 2007.

    I'm still very homesick (the 'old' gang here heard lots of my laments!!!lol) I'm not crazy about where we live and I'm a true blue Canadian through and through. We would live in Canada but Bruce has a good job here but when he retires we will move back to NL ...it's in the pre-nups....lol

    People don't have much of a sense of humour here. I have been here over 18 months and haven't got a friend yet. And I was a very social person back home. I've tried volunteering,etc. but people don't want outsiders here!!! Oh well, it sucks to be them.

    But the good news is I finally got a job..... I will be starting at the Bank of America next week. Hopefully I will meet all kinds of nice folks there. Keep your fingers crossed.

    Again it is so nice to be back. Take care and God bless. And I hope nobody takes this personal about me not fitting in here because having said all this I still married the greatest guy in the world and we love each other dearly! {{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}}

  9. Bruce & I went to Las Vegas.........we got married there, honeymooned for a week then went to California (San Diego and surrounding areas) plus my sister and brother in law live in Southern California so it was a bonus.. No matter where you go as long as you and your hubby are together that's all that matters (L)

    Hello to ChristinaM, yes Maine is beautiful. I live in the eastern part just an hour and a half from the good old Canadian border (SSSSSIIIIIGGGGGGGHHHHHH))))))))).........yes, I still get homesick a lot..........I'm in Newfoundland as we speak.........my hubby is crossing over on the ferry tonight and will be here 11 tomorrow morning. Can't wait!! We'll be going back to Maine next Thursday. I believe you contacted me before?? My computer crashes and sometimes it's a pain in the you know where. Take care and nice seeing somebody living in Maine here..............{{{{{HUGS}}}}}

  10. my mom always made "white" gravy.... I make it to sometimes....

    We called it cream gravy... although we usually use milk not cream....

    It is just margarine melted, mix in some flour and add 2 cups of milk and season with salt and pepper to taste... we sometimes fry up onions in the margarine too... yum!! yum!!

    Marilyn, we always called that 'drawn butter'...yummy too.......'Gravy' in my neck of the woods is brown made from the pan drippings (roast, chicken, turkey etc) and add a bit of flour or corn starch and water (and a few tablespoons of liquid that the vegables are cooked in) But this bisquit or chicken gravy that I've seen in the States turns my heart....lol.........to each his own I guess!!............{{{{{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

  11. PS.........More power to you but just curious how you got this far without a K Visa?? :unsure:

    I came to visit my then boyfriend as a visitor.. and hadn't planned on getting married.. but when he proposed, I couldn't say no! So we got married and then filed for AOS. It was either that, or I go back to Canada, apply for the K3, and then come here and file AOS, or adjust directly from the USA. We chose to adjust while I was in the USA, after getting married. It meant I couldn't leave the US (which has been hard since I miss my family dearly) but it was worth it.

    A lot of people plan to do stuff like this and it's looked down upon here on VJ. It's a tricky situation and one that could go either way. We were lucky. We didn't do anything illegal (I had no intent of getting married when I crossed the border, so I was fine) and so I didn't need any K visa. I just got married, filed for AOS, and now my green card is on it's way.

    :)

    Please don't think I'm looking down on you.......I'm just envious that I didn't go that route :blush: .........Waiting sucks no matter how you're doing it!! Good luck and God bless in the future. Keep the faith.....................{{{{{HUGS}}}}}

  12. Congratulations..........so happy for you and yours. I've got my fingers crossed that I will receive my GreenCard soon. We had our AOS on September 18, 2006.....we were approved pending the FBI namecheck. When I applied for my Canadian Certificate of Conduct and name check, it took a total of 2 days and that was during Christmas Season (2005)........so I don't know what gives with the American government!!!!!!!!!

    Good luck and God speed during the rest of your journey....{{{{{HUGS}}}}}

    PS.........More power to you but just curious how you got this far without a K Visa?? :unsure:

    And an AP is ALWAYS worth it!! love returning to Canada whenever the need arises (which is quite often for me...lol) I love being home but not with out my hubby!! There's no pleasing me.....lol

  13. Oh and as far as Nova Scotia is concerned , Ive heard, but have yet to experience it first hand, they are the NICEST people on the planet. This coming from my dad who has traveled extensively around the world and the US.Can't wait to find out first hand!!!!!!

    I heartily agree! (And I'm not biased or anything! :whistle: )

    When people ask me what it's like living here in the US, I say it's different. And I say this after having lived in both urban and rural areas of Canada. There are things that I like, and things that really bug me.

    My top differences are:

    --we know lots about the US, and it's definitely not vice versa

    --criticizing the government/politics is basically a sport in Canada (heck, some politicians make fun of themselves on This Hour Has 22 Minutes or Royal Canadian Air Farce, can you imagine that happening here? not bloody likely!), but criticizing the government/president here is basically treasonous!

    --there's nothing here to rival the force of nature known as the hockey mullet ;)

    --and i won't go down the guns-in-the-house-obsession road....

    I dunno, I'm not saying that Canada's perfect, because it isn't. All I know is that I am not sure if I will ever be settled here, because a lot of the American way of thinking/way of life just doesn't sit right with me.

    DITTO!!! Cassie, I couldn't agree with you more..........well, except for Nova Scotians being the 'nicest' seeing as I'm from the greatest province in Canada........NEWFOUNDLAND....... :whistle: heehee...just kidding because as we know all of the Martimes is the greatest in Canada. Speaking of which........I'm tired of hearing Americans pronouning 'Newfoundland' like 'New Fin Land' or 'New Fin Lund'......when I heard Larry King last year speaking with Paul & Heather McCartney talking about the seal hunt........don't get me started........I almost has a connipsion (not sure of the spelling.....lol) but you would think the media would at least pronounce it correct. The 'Americans' talk about their 'New Fin Land' dogs.......sorry......there ain't no such animal. And when I tell them politely that all they have to say is ..... UNDERSTAND NEWFOUNDLAND......it will flow right off their tongues..........no sir, they still can't get it!! When I'm not sure of pronouncing something, I'll ask if I'm saying it correct........like 'Maryland'........is it 'Mary Land' or Marylin???

    And as for sense of humour.......well, I'm not sure they have any.............before I get lynched.......this is for the majority, not 'all' :blush:

    And I also agree with whether I will ever settle in the States due to being the 'out sider' and not that readily accepted!! I've tried being funny with flipant remarks but I think that's a bad thing here and I'm just giving up and waiting for the day that we can retire back 'home'. And for the record, my husband totally agrees, he loves the people and life in Newfoundland and we would both dearly love to live there. I've tried putting my name in for volunteering at the school back in September and even went and introduced my self at the school for the Fall session, even though I was told by the principal that help was really needed. I kept calling but no response!! But having said that, I got an email from him yesterday asking if I could come in (he must know I'm out of town....lol.........I know I'm getting cynical!!!!lol

    As we speak, I'm in 'New Fin Land' :innocent: on an extending Christmas vacation. My hubby went back last week due to work and I'm staying for a few more weeks til my youngest daughter arrives from Alberta with our newest Grand Baby. Then hubby will come back for me. He is the greatest and I love him more every day.

    Hope every one started out the New Year healthy and happy and more to come............{{{{HUGS}}}}

  14. HAPPY NEW YEAR, my Visa Friends. I'm writing from Newfoundland. My husband and I drove over for Christmas but he had to go back Boxing Day due to work committments. I'm staying for another little while because my youngest and our newest GrandBaby will be arriving here in 3 weeks from Alberta. So I have to see them!! Bruce will come back for me in February. Oh how I miss him. I really wish we could live here but you can't have it all.....What a wonderful man I married....xox

    I had the best Christmas ever........spent it with the 2 main men in my life (my Dad and Husband) and my daughter and our 2 beautiful Grand Children and the rest of my family........can't beat that..................{{{{HUGS}}}}}

    PS........SIGHHHHHHHHHH......I'm still waiting for my FBI namecheck. Be glad when that's finished!!

  15. Oh, the East Coast ... *whistful sigh*

    My Dad's family is from Marystown, NF, and I've spent enough time on the rock to know my heart is there :P

    Born in Southern Ontario (Meaford, anyone?), recently moved to Kamloops, BC. Used to camp every year near McArthur Mills (near Bancroft, read someone was from there). Moving to eastern Washington (south of Spokane, in a wheat field somewhere...). Nice to meet ya's!

    -Eli-

    Yup I know exactly what you mean when you say you know where your heart is when you talk of the ROCK..................SSSSSSSSSSSSSSIIIIIIIIIGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH :crying: Glad to hear somebody got some Newfie blood here.......... :P .......{{{{{{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}}}}}

  16. It looks like I'm the only Newfie here :P .....I was born and raised in Stephenville, Newfoundland & Labrador..........God's Country. Lived in Bedford, Massachussets for 2 years in the 70's. Then back to the good old Rock. Now living in Maine since April 2006 (about 40 minutes from Bangor). Newfoundland and Maine are very much alike scenery wise. Quite beautiful places......{{{{{HUGS}}}}}
