  1. Not sure if you are looking for alloys or steel but: http://www.rsac.com/

    Reliance Steel and Aluminum.

Maybe they can supply you with a certificate of origin / conformity down to the mill it was processed at.

But I do see your dilemma, how do you know that all the multitude of ingredients are also American made.

  2. Right now I'm trying to find a small diameter material. I last bought it in 2008. So far nobody domestic carries this size anymore. If I don't locate a source I'll be between a rock and a hard place real soon.

My boss calls this a racist act.

Have you tried smallparts.com ? Also, I'm sure you have checked or not knowing exactly what you are looking for but there's McMaster Carr and MSC.

  3. Got the cat reluctantly but no dog -spent to much time,$$, and effort to landscape the backyard and dont want the headache of teaching it when and where to do its business - maybe some day. And some egglayers - Rhode Island reds and black Americanas.

Less maintenance than kids and without the drama when they are preteens and teenagers.

  4. Wife wanted a baby in a really bad way. But she had her tubes tied years before she met me. Me? No way!!! Unless it happens in some miraculous way then OK. Looked into in vitrol, tubal reversal and other methods but the costs were astronomical with no guarantees that it would even work so that was off the table.

But it wasn't like we didn't have any. We brought her two boys here, now age 17 and 21 - The older one moved out a couple of years ago (Thank you Lord !! ) . I also have two girls same age (stay with us and with their mom). Plus my daughter made me a grandfather. So we do have a little one running around the house.

She even wanted to adopt but finally, she is content to just have me

  5. I guess the point here is: Do it alone if you can. We think that having an Attorney is the best bet for success. But, sometimes is just more costly and the result would be the same.

Agree, I think having an IA is beneficial if you have extenuating circumstances but I really would have been much better off doing it on my own if I only had known better. I was under the false sense of security that my lawyer was looking out for us - which she was only looking out for a check.

  6. I used an immigration attorney and was very displeased with the whole process. The Attorney websites make it sound so intimidating to do it yourself. I wished I would have found this website before I had started. First, they took forever to help me as first, they wanted my check to clear which I sent promptly. It took like three weeks before I received the packet. Then they sent me all kinds of forms for the K1 visa. I later found them on the USCIS website that I can do online and print out .

The said to send to CSC which I later found out through the USCIS website (just after I sent it) that they were changing locations and my region was to send the packet to TSC (or visa versa as it was awhile ago and I am old). Therefore, I sent to the wrong location because of my lawyer. And to top it off, they told me that USCIS would probably just throw it away so they said to make another application (and another check) sending to the correct location.

What happened was that USCIS received my packet and resent it to the correct service center. After I received two notices (NOA1), I quickly alerted my attorney (of course both checks were cashed which I lost). I asked if we should cancle one right away and they said that it was not necessary as they would figure it out. Finally, just before we got interview in Rio, they decided to cancel one of them. I told our lawyer to dbl check tht everything was OK, they said I had nothing to worry about and that I was being paranoid. Unknowingly to us, our interview which we sent confirmation of going too, was canceled!! We found out like two hours past our interview time sitting at the consulate looking like total idiots. A total disaster which was finally resolved - no thanks to our lawyer.

I am sure that there are good lawyers out there that do help but you ultimately must still do all the paperwork yourself. I remember now that they said they would give us a good deal to adjust status :bonk:

  7. Nabors Drilling... decent outfit. It's a link I accidently left out in that PM I sent ya Donnison. They also have a local office in Anchorage, AK.

Nabors is a great outfit to work for I hear. And they are always in need of skilled drillers and toolpushers. They have purchased some new Academy drilling rigs recently and they are in the process of upgrading a lot of their pipehandling equipment.

  8. If he has offshore experience, there is no reason why he couldn't work on land rigs. The money may not be as good but there is a lot of activity going on now in North Dakota and the Rockies since many operators have decided to stay out of the gulf waters due to new or unknown regs due to the recent accident there. Try applying directly with Nabors drilling USA. I believe they are looking for skilled people but not sure in what capacity. What kind of work does he actually do on the rig?

  9. our problem is the opposite ... i once told her she forgot to pack something ... the kitchen sink :P

My bag used to be single and very small when I traveled to Brasil. Now I feel like a pack mule . Once we had to pack around 300 pampers (seemed like 1000) that my sister in law wanted us to bring to Salvador which eventually ended up in Germany. I had pampers on my carry on, my shoes, and in any location that we could stuff them.

  10. yeah i guess I'll try Craigslist and see if it works. a lot of stuff I'll wind up donating, I've given away some already.

Here's another idea (Charles wont like this). Load up your husband with as much stuff that he can legally take to Brasil. And sell it all in Brasil. This is what my wife always tries to make me do .

  11. Well....yes. And also maybe a TINY bit because the American women here get a little tired of hearing how ####### American women are compared to ________ (<-- fill in nationality) women. There are awesome and horrible men and women of every nationality. The broad stereotypes floating about VJ are insulting and really should have no place on an immigration forum!

Bummer, don't know anything about that. In fact I just started posting about three days ago (been gone for years). Personally, I have no opinion of American women. Good or bad.

  12. Our last trip, I paid that 30 bucks or so for that flight/medical insurance. On our trip to the airport, accidentally got a deep cut in my hand. Had to go to emergency and missed our flight. That insurance paid not only for the emergency, but also for our full flight cancellation charges. Best 30 bucks I have ever spent, not only for me, but for my wife as well.

Don't believe they will cover it if you cancel for other reasons, like the USCIS for example, but you are more than welcome to borrow my knife.

I may have to take you up on it.
