Q1: You can check your letter under the document section. If it's not there yet, it will be there in 1 - 3 days. You will know your date for sure than! I got my notice 5 weeks before the interview, I think 4 - 6 weeks is common.

Q2: Yes, you can, not sure how though, I think the letter explains it.

Q3: Not sure, and I don't think there is one right answer. Likely not years, but could be months.

Thanks for the reply. I know I will have more answers in the interview letter. Fingers crossed. Thanks again

  2. Hi All

October Filer here. Congrats on all the approvals. I have a few questions and am looking for help

Just checked online and it shows that a letter was sent out for scheduling an interview. So happy, but the other half is out of country for a family emergency.

Q1. Usually when the letter comes in, how many weeks out is the actual interview date?

Q2. Can we request to change the date by a couple of months if needed?

Q3. Whats the consequence of changing the date, does her case get extended by weeks, months, years etc.

I appreciate the help in this matter. Thanks guys and yayi for all approvals

  4. Hello everyone!! My card was mailed out on 08/17/15 and I decided to call USCIS today to ask for a tracking number. The Tier 1 officer said to me that not everyone receives a tracking numbers and I wouldn't be given one. How is that possible. She was offended when I told her she wasn't giving me the help I needed. I them demanded to be transferred to a Tier 2 officer and she was upset and told me I'd have a waiting time of about THREE hours which I was I'd just get a call back. Well there was no wait time. Immediately an officer answered and provided me the tracking number. I tracked my card and I should be receiving it tomorrow in the mail. Definitely speaking with a Tier 1 officer is a waist of time they don't help what so ever. You have to demand a transfer to a Tier 2 officer.

Whats the number you called and how did you know your card was in production? I am trying to figure out when we should expect it to ship. Our case was approved August 7th (online). I appreciate your feedback and majob congrats. I hope you have it in hand today and pop a bottle of champagne.

  5. For once I think we got lucky without waiting for n number of years. Hope so

    Hi All

Need to breathe and type ....woohhh... Got this by checking the status " On August 7, 2015, we registered your permanent resident status and mailed you a Welcome Notice for Receipt Number MSCXXXXXXXXX. Please follow the instructions in the notice. Your new permanent resident card should arrive by October 6, 2015, after this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later."

I know this much that it is good news. Had a few questions and would appreciate the help/feedback

Q1. Would it actually take two months to get the green card? or this is the worst case scenario.

Q2. What is the true likely of us receiving the green card. It seems 3 weeks is the norm.

Q3. What do they mean when they state "Please follow the instructions in the notice. Your new permanent resident card should arrive by October 6, 2015, after this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later.". - Do I have an action to complete a document form, that would support them to send the green card, I am not sure if I understand.

    Thanks guys

  7. I didnt mail photos as the previous package has them already. I mailed to the same Chicago Lockbox and received update from USCIS saying they've received my case yesterday. The only thing i am not sure is when they are going to count the 90 days?

Thanks, can you advise what the Chicago Lockbox code address is? Sorry I am in a rush and don't have time to go through my records. I hope they start it asap (the 90 day count). Really hoping to get an interview date sometime soon. Has anyone from December got an update yet?

  8. FML! I was avoiding to read this thread, but my gut and luck both are screaming that by the next month we would also received the NPIW. Knowing this, I am looking for help from others here on how to apply for AP (I guess I-131). What documents we need to send, I am assuming to Chicago in our case. Please advise guys. Thanks again.

I am thinking I131 and a cover letter including copy of I797C of I485 and I765. Any help here is appreciated. Thanks

  9. Congrats to all for the EAD cards and the combo cards. Have others seen any development on an interview date?

I haven't seen much. We filed on the 12th of Dec, 2014. Have folk who send it to the Chicago lockbox got interview dates or we should be expecting some delay. Like many others we chose not to get the AP and now I am trying to gauge if we should have. If I need to, would I need to pay again and how long should I expect to get it in. Thanks again and congrats to all.

  10. Oh one more thing...marriage license is not a proof of marriage.

People don't have to get married after getting the marriage license.

So, you probably meant marriage certificate or certified marriage certificate copy,

which is issued only after the marriage.

I did mean certified marriage license.

So I am guilty of reading other forums and I am now a bit worried. First question, have Dec filers received mails for an interview or are people getting the Notice of interview waiver and is the interview date in a couple of months or being extended several months (say 6 months).

Any guidance on how I should set my expectations would help. Thanks

  11. Trust me you'll be better off if you get an interview, you don't want to be stuck in our positions, but for what its worth we simply got the waiver letter because USCIS is backlogged.

My friend, you are scaring me. So to be extremely clear is everybody getting an interview waiver or a selected few for X reasons (help me understand X reasons). According to the timeline I am expecting an interview letter to come into the mail in the next month or so. Are my expectations correct or am I way off. Any advise is great. Thanks

  12. I feel this is a dumb question, but based on the title of this forum, it seems a lot of us here are getting the green card without an interview. How does one qualify for it. We should get the EAD card this week, but on the permanent residency aspect it shows case received, biometrics done etc. I feel an interview coming up. Please help me see the obvious, or not so obvious. Thanks for the guidance in advance.

  13. You don't need to use the EAD to change your name on your social - if you have marriage license you can change your name with SSA.

Actually in our case do. In her country she just had a first name, Just Priyanka. The US embassy forced that it would be considered last name and wrote FNU (First name unknown). So the visa was issued in FNU Priyanka. Social security recognizes only that name. Based one the marriage she would have an option to add a last name or change the last name. Hence with the marriage certificate it would be FNU Priyanka (my last name) or FNU Priyanka. (Yes I know its a nightmare). I applied all paperwork in Priyanka (my last name), and the EAD card is coming in that name. Apparently if that happens, my SS office here will recognize and do a (according to them) a complete name change. Hope I have cleared the situation. Its a pain when your K! spouse is coming into the country with only one name.

  14. Hi guys

So she arrives on thanksgiving day and I was all set on getting her social security the first business day. This of course would have her maiden name. In her case she actually just has one name in the passport. "Priyanka". I was told rather than first getting a social security card and wait for it in the mail, get married and based of that get a new Indian passport with "Priyanka 'husband last name'". Use the passport to get only on ss and apply for all the paperwork - EAD, 765 etc.

My question is, is this okay to do or not. It does save us time, but what are the risks and if you have experienced it first hand. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

To be clear she is coming on her k1
