  1. Yep, the title says it all. I want to work ASAP :( Any advise is appreciated

nothing to be afraid of. you just need the courage and perseverance to find a job. You can look it up online, even specific on a store or establishment website. If you are near LV strip there's alot of job opportunities in hotels and restaurants. For now that you are just starting, I would suggest not to be picky with jobs. There's a lot out there, you just need to exert effort to find one. Good luck.

If your husband is helping you then you don't need to worry. It's up to you too how much you are sending back to the Philippines that will cost to loose a lot from your savings.

  2. Hello everyone,.

I just want to ask about ROM. And I am so confused because some people say the basis in filing ROM is your address where you living in and some says where you got married. So guys I really need help which is which? Hopefully somebody can help me. Thanks :)

it is based on the city (state) where you got married. Every Phil consulate in US has different requirements and procedure with Report of Marriage, look for your Phil consulate here and find the Report of marriage link on their website

  3. Okay me and my fiance are mat be a month away from getting an interview! It's here in korea my fiance called once to the nvc they was sending our case to the embassy here where I live. That is good it's Been in korea a week now. I'm extremely excited to set the interview, but my cenomar in philippines is in process and there always needing documents it's like a huge run around it needs a degree registration and then taken to the nso. And then they will give me a date. Normally I heard 10-12 working days. Is there anyway around this or something I can do I'm scared I won't have it and I still need the red ribbon. I'm extremely nervous it won't be done in time. That is when the embassy sends my my packet and I get a date. Still very stressful and my fiance and I have put a lot of time and money into obtaining the documents we need from manila. The visa process hadn't been bad but I've been waiting 2 years to marry this man.... please help any advice.

are you going to be interviewed in Korea? did you got your packet 3 instruction? here's a copy of one from US embassy South Korea, i have not seen that you need a CENOMAR.. but correct me if i am wrong.. Every US embassy in every country has different requirements and procedure for k1 visa processing

  4. While I earn enough to take care of my Fiance and her child... it's not "ideal". I surpass the 125% of poverty line requirement. I make about $30,000/yr as an EMT... the biggest saving grace is that my house is completely paid off and I have no car payments and practically no debt.

The faster my Fiance can start working, the easier our lives will be by ... *A LOT*. She's actually an Engineer, has years of experience working for an American company overseas, speaks perfect English... I figure she will easily earn at least $50,000 to start. Coupled with my income, our household income would be *VERY* nice considering our house would be paid off. Her working is the difference between money being somewhat tight... and being moderately wealthy. So the question is, how quickly can she be eligible to work? I understand that filing for working privileges really only makes sense to do in conjunction with your AOS due to timing, fee costs, etc. So that basically means, we should be able to file our AOS as soon as we get married? How soon would she be able to work? What is the latest expected we'd have to wait.

My Fiance is coming from the Philippines if it makes any difference.

File Adjustment of Status after getting married. Include application for Employment Authorization Document, the payment will be as one if you include both in one application.. It's about 3 months after filing she can receive her employment card which allows her to work while waiting for the green card. And she needs SSN to work too.. She can apply for that before your wedding. because sometimes it's hard to get SSN after getting married since she came to the US as K1 visa and still single, they might require her a green card to get SSN if you do it after the wedding.

  5. friends

am unable to check my case as all three receipt numbers say not valid.

I also tried calling USCIS number and put in my receipt numbers correctly but still invalid

I got hard copy I 797 receipt numbers last week friday :(

It's normal, it means they have not yet updated your status online. They are kinda late of doing that. Just wait and see. As long as you already have your receipts then you are fine.

  6. My wife changed her name when we got married. We have the SSN number in her married name. We also have the Marriage Certificate. All of her I.D. (Passport) is in her maiden name (We live in California, and she can't get any I.D. until her EAS or Green Card). They sent the Biometrics appointment to her married name because I was told to apply using her married name. Are we going to be turned away (like we have for so many things). I am worried. Thanks for your replies.

Bring passport and copy of marriage license since she does not have an ID on her married name..

  7. Hi everyone. I have a question regarding my situation. I have 2 kids in the Philippines who stays with their father. Before moving here we had an agreement that the kids will be under his provision. Now, just recently, he wants to change the last names of kids under his. To be able to do that, they are asking for a letter of consent that proves that he is the biological father. Do you have any idea how can I have my letter signed from a consul? Because that is the requirement from their country (Philippines). And do I have to pay for anything? Your help and answers would really be appreciated. Im from San Diego, CA btw.

    Hi,

you need to write an AFFIDAVIT OF CONSENT that says you agreed to have your kids change their last name to their father and states that he is the biological father..you can search in the internet the formal for that too, just change the words that applies to your case.

You need to visit the Philippine Consulate in Los Angeles, have it notarized and red ribbon, it will cost $25 for each document.

  8. My wife has been approved for an IR-1 visa. She is getting her vaccinations tomorrow, a bit mixed up from normal progression, but she had her medical two weeks ago and passed. They wanted to wait to give the vaccinations and that date turned out to be the day after her already scheduled visa interview.

So I know we will get her passport back and a packet that must not be opened and will be handed over upon arrival in the USA. Does she need any of the other things? The medical x-ray scan CD or a receipt showing her vaccinations separate from the packet she hands over?

A second question that I probably should post separately is about her SSN. We checked the box requesting a SSN be assigned her in the DS-260 application. She already has an ITIN (International Tax Identification Number) which we have used when filing US taxes for a few years. But they never asked her for that at any point in the process.

Once we arrive in the USA (Seattle) and head to our new home a bit north of Seattle, should we contact Social Security and check on her SSN? Will it arrive with her green card? Since she wants to work, I know how important a SSN is and a green card too. Even though the visa placard in her passport will say that she can work on it. Or at least the one a friends wife got did. So will that suffice for job hunting once we have settled in?

Worth mentioning: I do want to say how slick the process has been for us filing in Manila and doing the DS-260 online. A couple of missteps on our part but overall, it has gone very smooth. Two months and two days from filing the I-130 to getting approval at her interview. We've been together for a number of years and that helped. She is comfortable using English during her two interviews and that seemed to make things happen a bit quicker too. We had extensive documentation well arranged, so her final interview went very fast, like four questions. Then the interviewer said, "Well, everything his here. Nothing left to ask so congratulations, you are approved."

Once she arrives in the US, u just have to wait to receive the SSN card in the mail, no need to contact them. It will arrive 1-2 weeks after her arriving in the US. She can work immediately once she has her SSN because she has temporary green card in her passport. You just have to pay for USCIS ELIS for green card fee asap so she can get her actual green card.

  9. I did a search for TB the only relevant questions were 2012 etc....

Does St. Lukes only use an X-ray or the bubble under the skin ... like they use here in the states????

If fiance Father was TB positive when she was 5 years and father was treated and has been TB free since... how does she answer the question if you have been around someone that was TB positive

No cause the time-table hasn't been resent

    or

Yes about 21 years ago a member of my family

If the question says If she is exposed to TB patient recently then the answer is NO. But otherwise say yes and tell them how long ago it was

  10. My fiancé is currently living in the Philippines, and I am in the US. I'll be visiting this summer, and hoping to get married this winter. My concern though, is that the requirements for marriage in the Philippines will require me to take an extra long trip, and I don't have that many vacation days saved up! I was hoping to get it done over two weeks. But it sounds like the waiting for the embassy and the license will take all of that!

And it also sounds like I can't just do it this summer, because it would all expire before the winter!

Does anyone have any advice on how we can make this happen? I know it would be easier to get a fiancé visa, get married in the US and then go back later for the church wedding. But if we prefer it this way, is there anything we can do to make this work? Also, the two weeks will likely overlap with parts of the holidays! So I don't know what will be closed or how much extra delay that would bring...

Is there anything I can do this summer to make it faster this winter?

If I come out briefly over Thanksgiving, can I get a lot of it done so it's ready by newyears?

    Any help is appreciated!

Plan ahead. Have your fiance prepare everything ahead of time. Get a wedding planner. But filing for marriage license in the Philippines has 10days wait. 2 weeks is very short for that.

  11. Hi guys, im planning my medical on st lukes this coming thursday, should i be honest with my previous UTI,12 years ago when i was preganant? Or ill just keep it to myself. Help my co filipinas. Give me some ideas thanks! K1 visa here.

Can be this one a cause of delay?tnxs

When asked about medical history you may want to tell them about it, but UTI is ok, it's not communicable disease so it is not a red flag.

Hi ate cristina, okay lang ba? Nbi ko travel abroad ang purpose. May travel to usa pala hindi ko napansin nung sa online. Or need ko tlaga palitan to para travel to usa.

    Travel Abroad is ok

  12. hello,

i just want to ask some questions, i am here in the US, as K1, i arrived last april 2, 2016 and my visa will be expired this coming june 30, i got married last may 14, i plan to process my aos soon, probably this week, i read that i need to have my form 1-693, which will be signed by the civil surgeon. i had a medical exam prior arriving here, and upon arrival here in the us, the custom took the packet that was sent to me by the us embassy, together with the medical records i believe.

    now my question is this.

    1. is the form i693 similiar to what ive had during the medical? or should i undergone another medical here? and send it to them?

    2. how long does it take for the aos to be approved? or for me to get an interview or green card?

    3. what if its not yet approved and my visa is already expired? should i leave the us?

your help will be very much appreciated. thank you

    1. If it has not been a yr since you had your medical from your home country for visa processing, you don't need to undergo a whole new medical in the US. Check your vaccine sheet, see if the box that says complete is checked, if not, USCIS may require you to have it evaluated to make sure you have the complete vaccines per CDC guideline. For now, you can file Adjustment of Status, send a copy of your vaccine record and wait until USCIS will require you to have the I-693 form, which if you have your vaccine sheet evaluated the civil surgeon will still give you that form.

2, AOS varies, it may take up to a yr, some faster, depends on how busy your local USCIS office

    3. You just need to get married within 90 days of arrival. No need to leave the US, you just have to file AOS even your visa or I-94 expires.

  13. Hello VJ's

Went to SSA today to change my middle name but the staff don't allow me to do it so I talked to the Manager but they have the same thoughts that I can't do it right now as I am out of status. My I-94 expired last April 18, we sent my AOS last April 26, I will have my biometrics on May 24th. I told them the reasons that I'm still waiting for my green card because it's already filed. They can't change my middle name because they wanted my green card. The first time we went to SSA was a week after we got married. I used my surname as my middle name as I am now married but the staff changed it to my maiden name because that is in my passport and visa. She told me that she need to use it as that will be use when I am going to apply in BMV. I thought that it's OK to do it as SSA will allow you to change 3x in a year. I used my surname as my middle name in my AOS. Last week I apply for a state ID in BMV using my surname but they wanted to follow what I have in my SS card so I showed them the letters that I had from USCIS that it will complicate on my AOS if they are going to use my maiden name. They will only give me a state id if it is the same in the SS card. Now I cannot do anything here until I get my green card.

You need to wait for your green card. When your green card arrives, wait about 2weeks before going to SS office to make sure your information/immigration status is already in their system. You don't have to rush on getting state ID. You can use your passport as an ID. another option is to get state id in you maiden and just change the name once you get your green card.

  14. Hi, I arrived with a K1 visa and got married in 90 days. My husband and I still took time to compromise and adapt each other's living style after the registration. Then we decided to apply for my adjustment of Status finally, but it is already 3 months after our marriage. I know that many couples will finish marriage and submission I-485 within 90 days. Is that ok we fill in forms and continue the procedure like other couples or we need to renew my I-94 form before we move next? (As we need I-94 record number for I-485 but the date on it is expired). Please advice, many thanks.

you are still fine, as long as you got married within 90 days upon arrival. Just file for Adjustment of Status as soon as possible so you can obtain your green card and you won't be out of status

  15. Hello...

My fiance arrived in the US almost 2 weeks ago on a K-1 visa, along with her daughter. We plan on getting married within 2 months from now. She applied for a Social Security Card last

    week.

So the question I have is this: Can she start applying for jobs when she receives her new SS card? Her name will be changed on the card when we marry, of course. I understand that you have to file

several forms to change status after marriage. Do we have to wait until the AOS package has been submitted, or can she work right away? Or do you need the green card in hand first? Any information

    would be appreciated....

    Thanks

No she cannot work with only SSN. She needs a Employment Authorization Document of green card to work. You need to get married first then file for Adjustment of Status to obtain the green card, you can apply the Employment Authorization Document and Advance Parole with it for just one fee.

  16. We just got married on the 7th and her I-94 expires tomorrow. We've been waiting on getting married for everything so that we can apply with her new married now, but time is towards the end on this piece. What should we be looking at or expecting. We're still waiting on the Marriage license to get back to us since we've already mailed it out to the county. Just ready to take the next step and looking for advice. Thanks everyone.

you should be ok. What's important is you are already married before i-94 expires. You can go to the county clerk as well and request for certified copies of your marriage certificate, depends on that state how much is it per page.

prepare all the necessary documents for adjustment of status. You can file Employment Authorization Document and Advance Parole with it and you will only pay for one. go to AOS guide to check the requirements

  17. I mailed all my forms (I-130, I-485, etc.) to the Chicago Lock Box on 3/31/16 via regular First Class U.S. Mail. I now realize I should have used a form of delivery that I could track. I have received no notification and my checks have not been cashed. Has anyone else made this grave mistake? If so, can you tell me how long it took for your package to arrive?

it took ours 5 days for them to receive it. Did you send Form G1145? just watch out for your check to be cashed. there nothing more you can do but wait.

  18. My 17 years old daughter.... Can she travel alone from Philippines to US? Its her first time going to US... Will there be a problem on the Port of entry or somewhere in the airport?..... Will she be questioned because she is travelling alone?...... I cant accompany her for some reasons and issues..... so.... IS IT ALLOWED FOR A 17 YEARS OLD TO TRAVEL ALONE FROM PHILIPPINES TO US? THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE!.....

I will share you our experience right now.

My sister, 16 y.o., will be travelling alone to US for the first time. She just got her immigrant visa and will be flying next month April 2016. She did her CFO (peer counseling) but needs the travel clearance from DSWD since she is travelling alone eventhough her visa is immigrant. So we inquired at DSWD on how to get one, one of the requirement is a written consent from both parents. Since my mom is here in the US, she needs to secure a notarized affidavit of consent, it should be notarized and consularized by Philippine General Consulate under the jurisdiction where we live. Everything is just a hassle. Right now we are on the process of securing the affidavit. Since we live far from the Phil Consulate, we need to do it by mail. But before that, we need to have all the documents notarized locally, and authenticated by Department of State. I am hoping to acquire all necessary documents before my sister's flight date.

Plus you can request for assistance on your airline for unaccompanied minor. It comes with a fee and depends with the airline policy. Airline staff will assist your child from Check-in until the immigration at Point of Entry.
