Love it. This whole process is a bit dramatic. I like that running is something I can control, much unlike NVC.

Fan-bloody-tastic!!! I have been really hoping you could get an earlier date, you definitely deserve it. Will you husband be able to wrap up things ASAP and get home to you after his approval? If so, you will be together next month!!!

I lift glasses of wine, probably why I am not losing any weight from all of the running!

Number 5 is your income, number 6 is only if you are using anyone else from your household's income. Since you are not using anyone else your household income would just be yours, as the other numbers would not have an amount in them.
The instructions are referring to Part 6, not question number 6.

Happy Monday. My week started off a bit ordinary when I was driving to work and rock hit my windshield and cracked it. Boo. Then, I got to work and my boss told me that the higher paying job I have been doing for the last 6 months will not be extended because the person I was covering is coming back. No biggie because i will just go back to my normal duties, but slightly less money.
I hope this week brings good luck at NVC for everyone with lots of CCs, interview dates and unlocked invoice fees!

I feel your pain as I approach 13 months. My poor famly in the US has been waiting so long for us to come home. And my poor family in Australia that know we are leaving, but don't know when so it is sort of a sadness that drags along day by day.
Being torn between 2 countries can be so difficult.

I don't think I am arguing, just trying to understand.
I can't find anywhere that says you must have a joint sponsor if you currently meet the the poverty guidelines. It doesn't ask about future/continuing employment or income. My concern about this clarification is real, as I do not have a joint sponsor and I will resign from my job when we move to the States. This is the first I have heard that I need a joint sponsor.
Can anyone with experience in this please answer?

I think here in Australia we call "certified copies" what they call "notarised copies" in America. In Australia what I would call certified copy is where you make a photocopy of an original and take it to get witnessed (police, pharmacist, etc). that it is a true and correct copy. For NVC, I think they want you to obtain another official copy from the place that issued the original document such as Births/Deaths/Marriages, so basically another copy of the original with the proper seals, watermarks etc.
You do get the originals back at interview, so don't fret. Make a few extra copies before you send them off and pay extra for tracking (I know it's expensive from Australia, but peace of mind is worth it)
Unfortunately you will need to wait another 30 business days for them to review your checklist items

Same thing happened with mine last month, they attempted delivery on a Saturday. I was worried, but they just tried again and it was delivered on Monday (next business day).

The document review period is 30 days is from scanned date of documents.
Flights booked? Yay! So, I assume that means the interview went well. Would love to hear all the details, as we will also be interviewed in Sydney in the next couple of months.

I agree with the comment about techology. My husband and I were separated while we were engaged and were in the immigration process for me to come to Australia. We are talking 12 years ago and calling was super expensive and there was no Skype. We relied a lot on letters and cards and he even sent me VIDEOS he recorded showing me the apartment he got for us and other things. I am not talking a video from a smart phone and emailed, I mean a camcorder on a video cassette mailed! ha ha
It was hard, but we made it and looking back is sounds romantic. I still have those letters and videos and they are such sweet memories. Everyone remember in this day and age of Skype to take the time to write a love letter to your spouse. How wonderful is it receiving mail that is not a bill these days.

They should give us some sort of cool badge once we hit the 1-year wait mark.

I agree, if I had the foresight to know how long this process would take, I would have definitely kept a blog or at least a journal. When I started this process 12 months ago, I didn't have my head around the whole process and thought it would be about 6 months, boy was I wrong! I also thought getting our I-130 approved would get us the green card. Jokes on me! After 10 months of waiting, there is a whole other step called the NVC! Wish I had stumbled upon VJ long before I did, I would have been prepared.
I love your grandmother's quote, so cute.

If he doesn't have any documentation (lease agreements, etc.) I would say for him to just make the closest guess possible. See if he can recall moving in (what time of year was it, did it coincide with the start of a new job, finishing school, major holidays etc.) Maybe he can remember what was happening in his life when he moved in and jog his memory. For example I always remember when we moved into our house because it was Cinco de Mayo. ha ha

Well, I am certainly glad that you do! I didn't stumble upon your blog until recently, but read back and some of your posts were like little excerpts of my life! I don't want your immigration journey to drag on, but selfishly I want you to keep on blogging. Maybe start a blog about assimilating your spouse to USA. That will certainly come in handy for me. (Although truth be told, my VERY Aussie husband live-streams baseball every freaking day. I think he was born to be Americanised)

Since NVC is now closed for the day and nobody will be calling for several hours, I was thinking of a way to pass time. There are some amazingly witty writers here on VJ and I love stumbling across anyone with a blog. My favourite so far is the one by bdrew612. It has kept me laughing througout this ridiculous gauntlet. If you have time, give it a read!!! http://thelonelynewl....wordpress.com/ I hope this link works and bdrew612 won't mind me sharing!
If anyone else has a blog to share about NVC or immigration please share! It makes me feel better to read other people's stories to know I am not alone
