  1. Hey guys, can someone welcome me here? Just received Waiver letter and I don't feel very happy. You know, a friend of mine who came in on a B1/B2 told me before i filed the k1 to do the same thing she was gonna do, she came here, got married, she sent her AOS a week after I sent mine, she already has a green card and i'm here waiting.... and not only that, I cannot enlist into the Marines if I don't have that document, ugh, i have exactly one year to enlist. After all of this it's so hard to stay motivated.

I'm sorry, first time I vent here. Unfair system.

    Love ya'll!

  2. I'm sorry you have to go through this. I have a gut feeling that eventually I will receive an Interview Waiver Letter as well. So many people in my monthly filer thread have already gotten the "Ready to be scheduled an interview" case status update. A bunch of them already have an interview date set.

I agree that the waiting time with the Interview Waiver Letter is plain ridiculous. Being K1 adjusters we went through so much, filled out tons of paperwork, waited long months, had our realtionships scrunitized at the US Embassy interview and now some of us gotta wait a year! Whereas those who came to the US on a tourist (or whatever else) visa are required to have an interview and therefore the vast majority of them is done with AOS in 4-6 months! It is so not fair.

I also wish my husband and I would have filed for the IR-1/CR-1 (spousal) visa. That way the wait would have been roughly a year (or a little more) and I would have received a greencard on arrival.

I hope you hear from the USCIS soon. Good luck! :)

You know I agree with you 100%. What i'm wondering is how long should we wait until we begin taking action like asking a senator or something like that.

  3. FYI I-130's sent from the US from somebody that's adjusting from a B1/B2, VWP or out of status most of the time are processed faster than K-1/AOS process. My friend adjusted from a B1/B2 at the same time I adjusted from a K1, she just got approved at an interview scheduled from an office that's supposedly processing I-485's from August of last year, I'll probably get an interview waiver like most k-1's (still haven't heard a thing from USCIS). Check out the Adjustment of Status report forums, since you're going to be in that boat when you get here. Maybe you can bring that up too?

  4. Hurray for Greensboro, NC!!!! Welcome!!

To the OP, I think it would be okay to start job searching when you arrive. As others have said, if you land an interview before you get your EAD, just explain that your authorization to work is in progress and on its way. Most applications here have a "date you can start", and you can make it for a few months out. Since it is a professional job, maybe you could include something in your cover letter to explain why the date is set for so long after your application. Good luck with your job hunt!!

    Thanks!

    OP, please check: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/546719-i-got-denied-for-my-green-card-and-my-wife-now-wants-to-get-divorce/

  5. Hey, it is a good idea to start looking for jobs, just remember that you'll have interviews and will have to explain to them your situation, I started looking for jobs as soon as my EAD was approved, and was able to get a job after several interviews with the City of Greensboro a couple of weeks after I sent my application. The reason I decided to start applying for jobs when I got my EAD approved was because I knew it wouldn't take long to receive the card.

  6. I was not aware that you can get naturalized right after enlisting in the military despite just being on a conditional green card.

For whatever reason i assumed that you had to wait 3 years before getting citizenship. I am looking at joining the army, naturally I would like to go airborne, go through RASP if possible but know it is not a possibility without citizenship.

    I am confused.

That's right, you'll be able to become a citizen through the military.

When you sign up with the army, the contract that you'll sign will be for a job that doesn't require a security clearance, since can only be obtained once you're a citizen.

You need to contact a recruiter and ask if once you're in you're able to volunteer for Ranger school or how does that process work.

Don't get too confused, if you speak with a recruiter that tells you you can only join with a 10 year green card, show them this:

  7. My husband and I are putting together the adjustment of status packet, and we just have a few questions (some are silly).

    1. Do we need to include pictures of the wedding, or anything like that?

    2. With the affidavit of support, is it the same as the one we filled out for the application of the K-1 Visa? Can I do a co-sponsor, since I am in school and can't work full time?

    3. Silly question: Can we staple each different section of paperwork together so things don't get mixed up? For some reason I thought I remembered something about not stapling things.

Any other advice would be great!!

    Hey,

    1. You don't need to include pictures of the wedding but you do need to include your marriage certificate.

    2. You can do the same one and you need to include a co-sponsor if you don't reach the 125% on your own.

    3. Don't staple, use clips or binder clips.

Here's the guide if you wanna know how to put your packet together: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1k3aos

  8. I hadn't really posted before but I filed on December 19 and got my notice receipt on December 24 and went in for biometrics on January 20. From there we got the EAD approved on March 24 and now we got an interview scheduled for May 6 barely got the notification today. So just waiting on the letter. I hope for all of you to get your interview soon. My status before this just said we have received your fingerprints fee or something like that never changed till right now.

Question, it says that you filed for a Cr1. Are you adjusting from a K-1 or another type of visa?

    Congratulations on your interview notice!

  9. Good day to everyone, hope all January filers are doing well on the new life.

On April 1, 2015, we scheduled you for your interview and mailed you an interview notice for Receipt Number MSC Your interview is on May 4, 2015. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your interview notice by May 1, 2015, please go to ########.

well seems like we have a BIG DAY so please if you have any input on what to take let me know we walk down the aisle 4 months ago but because job related i being home for a month during our marriage time so we don't have much to take to the interview.

    so any input will help.

    Thanks

    God bless everyone.

Lucky you!!!! I hope everything goes smoothly. Take whatever you have that could show the proof of the relationship again, pictures of the wedding, joint bank account info, maybe car insurance or any bills?

Let us know how it goes!

  10. Who said "Illegal Alians in US army " ?

Well, since this has been a long thread about illegal immigration, and "If immigration start removing illegal immigrants, they have to call entire US army which they don't have the time" < that was posted, I thought it was talking about illegals in the Army, which now it makes sense to me how they were referring to call the Army to help remove illegal immigrants, see what I'm saying?

Just what went through my head when I read the statement.
