  1. Hello OP, I'm sorry for all of what you've been through, olease remember that we're here to support you and help you out in this process!

One of the things that I would recommend to you, as well as our fellow vj's is that you meet your boyfriend/fiance asap! Don't marry someone you don't know personally, an online relationship is way different than a physical one. Go meet him, get to know him and then make a decision, we'll help you with the process!

    Take care!

  2. Hello, congratulations on thinking about moving on with the relationship, I'll share what we did with you so that you have another point of view.

I was in the same situation with my fiancee, and even though she had been living here in Guatemala for the past 2 years, we decided that it was better if she would move back to the States, start working and get financially stable and start looking for an apartment and plan the wedding before I move up, (assuming we'll get the visa). She left the country today and with a positive attitude, we're hoping everything will work out fine.

IF by any chance the visa was to be denied, she'll come here, we'll get married and do DCF.

Looking back at our situation today, I realize that it would've been so much easier to do DCF since she lived here for such a long time and I'm guessing we'd be living in the US if we would've decided to do it that way, but again, we weren't thinking about it a year ago.

Again, that's what's going on with us, I hope you and your loved one make the best decision for your relationship and to always maintain a good, possitive attitude!

    Best wishes,

    Adrian

  3. We're currently in the same situation with my fiance, you need to send all your documents to the texas lockbox. We're using DHL, my only concern was how to make the payment, but we figured out we could send an international money order attached with the packet. My fiance is going back to the US next month. We're going to do a couple of updates on the forms we're sending and hopefully we'll ship it on thursday.

Best of luck and keep in touch!

  4. I haven't considered these options, i thought about sending an international money order, but a couple of banks here told me they don't issue those anymore. I'll speak tomorrow with my inlaws and if so, I'll send them the packet so that they can include a check or i'll talk to one of my ex bosses to see if they have a US checkbook and i'll give them the money!

    Thanks for you kind response

  5. Hey guys,

A couple of days ago, my fiance and I finished putting together all of the paperwork for us to file the I-129f and send the packet to the Dallas lockbox, however I couldn't find anywhere what kind of check could we send if we've both been living here in Guatemala for the past 2 years.

I looked at the USCIS webpage and they advised to get a hold of the US embassy in my country, so, we contacted them and they said they didn't know about the $340 of the initial fee and then that they couldn't give me any information as to how to submit that payment if we both live here, that we had to go to the embassy.

We went to the embassy right after we spoke with the representative and when we got there, they didn't know again about the $340 filing fee, so, what the girl advised me was that here in Guatemala, (supposedly, because since i haven't heard this i don't trust it 100%), we need to file our paperwork at the embassy and that the filing fee is going to be $190. She sounded knowleadgeable, but again, since i've never heard of this and since i knew DCF is for spouses only, it caught me off guard.

    Any thoughts on this matter??

    Thank you!

    Adrian.
