  1. Well I just said I was enlisted lol. (I'm just being mean lol).

The uniform I'm wearing in my pic is my Air Force mess dress. I'm a Staff Sergeant.

As for the rest, she's not joining until we're done having kids. We just had our first five and a half months ago. We plan on having two more, so it will probably be another five years. So she will have been a citizen for a couple years before she goes off to OTS.

As for the renouncing of citizenship, no she doesn't. In fact, I was just at a class with a U.S.-Brazilian dual citizen officer with a TS clearance. They don't give a ####### so long as you are up front. Certain jobs place certain restrictions on it, but I am intel and work with dual citizens, so I can tell you for a fact that no, it's not a requirement.

    Lol, you did say it....

Ah that's awesome! And about the dual citizenship, that's good to know, my wife and I are both enlisting, but I think if she finishes her degree, she could consider commissioning later on.

I have a friend that used to be a Ssgt in the Airforce and he just got out, they offered him to go intel or out, he stepped out. lol.

  2. Awesome.

My wife and I are doing similar. I've been enlisted for near nine years now, but when she gets her citizenship, she's gonna commission in the Air Force (she's got four degrees, one of which is Financial Management, so she's gonna try to go for Finance).

Sweet deal! Are you an officer or enlisted? I can't see if you're wearing blues or not, so I really can't make up which branch you're in.

That's a good idea of you both being in. She could get her citizenship expedited if she goes enlisted and then commission once she's in. I've heard that if she commissions she'll have to renounce her citizenship. Is that something she's thought about?

I think married couples in the same branch is a great opportunity and a great way to earn some decent $$ besides the rest of the benefits. Keep me updated!

  3. I am thinking about navy active duty.

You should be able to start the process after you AOS interview, make sure you get a stamp on your passport for your approval. Actually, go speak with them before the AOS interview, they'll probably ask you to take a pre-ASVAB to see if they'll work with you, once you take that, go to your AOS interview, get approved and go talk to them. They'll start the process but you'll have to wait until you have your physical green card to do a couple of things like MEPS.

Have you spoken to a recruiter yet?

  4. My practice test will be tomorrow, afterwards we will be discussing what branch would be the best option for me (Reserves)

I know after research we do have a corpsman unit in my city, which I can get into, I will also have to talk with my Marine recruiter about what Marine units are in my city, and what jobs there are

Right now I am heavily set on Corpsman in the Navy, but If Marines have any behind the desk jobs such as Legal / Administrative / Accounting / office or computer related jobs I will be going into Marine. If none of the jobs I listed are available I will be going as Corpsman in Navy

    Good luck, it's easy.

My wife wanted to get into the medical field in the Navy and they told her there were no openings. Why are you doing reserves and not active duty?

  5. tell us how your process went, I think i might end up as marine reserves

So, some of my paperwork got screwed up that same day and several other people weren't able to take the test. Our first hurry up and wait experience. I'm just gonna wait until I get the actual card because I can't be taking that much time off of work, and get done with the ASVAB and MEPS.

How did your practice test go?
