I can either take a 6 hour bus trip or an hour flight
-
I may shoot them an email. I can attach a photo of it.
-
I don't want them to think we tried to open it or something. The Ankara website just tells us to show up but I am wondering if we need an appointment. I tried calling but I got the useless operator.
We will probably go first thing on Monday. We have to get another dang plane ticket just for this. I heard there may be a fee. It is such a dang hassle to go there but we have friends in Ankara so we will go visit them too. Our lawyer thinks it shouldn't be a problem though

With that big of a tear I would get it re-sealed at the embassy.
Will they give us problems? How long will this take? I don't have time to sit around waiting for this.
-
How long will that take? Will they give us any issues? Can we get it the same day? Do we need to make an appointment? I tried calling the embassy and the only person I talked to was an operator who connected me to an automated message before I could even finish my question.
The website says:
- I OPENED MY VISA PACKET. WHAT SHOULD I DO?Please bring your visa packet and passport (with the visa in it) back to our office between 10:30AM and 12:00, Monday through Friday, or send it to the Consular Section by Turkish Postal System (PTT) (click on CSC link at usvisa-info.com and follow the flow of the web page).
Even though ours arrived in this condition, I guess this question applies to us too.

Hey we recieved our K-1 visa today and the brown envelope. The seal is still intact and we didn't open the envelope. However there is a tear on one side of it, not a very big one and not big enough to take papers out of. We sent a picture of it to our lawyer and she said it looked ok but I don't want any problems at port of entry. According to our embassy website we can visit between 10 and 12:30 monday-friday to get it resealed. It would cost us an extra trip there but I don't want to risk the postal service again. Do you think this envelope is a problem or is it ok?

We got his visa and packet in the mail today!

My case status on CEAC did the same thing. Had interview on June 25th, was approved, then the next day everything changed. Case creation date changed to June 26th, status update date June 26th, and went from immigrant to nonimmigrant, but still says ready. The status updated again today but still says ready. Really hoping to see something change soon.
Danielle and Jake,
It will probably go to AP again and then 2 or 3 days later switched to issued. That is what happened with us.

Let me reactivate this thread. I started studying Turkish for fun in college and I ended up really loving it. I then became a Muslim in college too and met the man who would now become my fiance. We talked about getting married and I finally met him in person in February 2012. We got engaged and applied for the K-1 in September 2014. We were just issued his visa yesterday ve çok çok çok mutluyum ve heyecanlıyım!
-
Finally my status changed from Ready to AP. It was "ready" since June 12
I wonder how much time it will get to me receive the visa...
Give it 2 or 3 days. Ours came up as AP on the 24th and ISSUED on the 29th. It took 5 days for us but 2 days were a weekend so I don't count them.
-
I ended up calling NVC on Wednesday, June 24th and speaking to someone who told me it was definate that we were approved. He told me I had to wait a bit because of the technical failure but we were for sure approved. Our visa came up as issued on the 29th and now is on its way to us.

In general, and particularly at tough or hellhole consulates, if the USC is on the consular premises during the interview, it can make a big difference. In comparison to other locales, especially in poorer countries, it often seems that the Manila embassy hands out visas like candy.
Why is Manilla so easy? I notice quite a few women from their marrying USCs who are old enough to be their fathers. The worst case I have seen the woman was 22 and the guy was 50. In some of these cases it was so obvious to me that the woman was only with the guy because he was American and had money but these cases still get visas. They have fraud written all over them. Actual couples have so much more trouble. It makes me so mad

That is normal they need to print the visa and process it.

It is good news. We were in a similar situation.
Our interview was April 27th. We had a 221g for a missing police clearence. We recieved it and sent it back early June.
June 10th: AP
June 24th: Ready with a new CC date and change from immigrant to non immigrant
June 25th: AP
June 29th: ISSUED
You will probably have a visa really soon.
-
Our status just changed to issued!

Our status just changed to issued! I hope everyone here gets their visa soon!
-
Update: June 29th, ISSUED!!!!!!!!!!
We got the visa!
-
I hope everything works out for you. Maybe you can file a complaint against that CO. People need to be treated like humans with respect. Refusing to even hear you out and listen to you is just wrong.

Our interview went fine and I wasn't in the actual interview. We got a 221g for a simple missing document and we are about to get the visa. There were two couples doing spousal visa interviews when I was there and they US citizens were standing outside the embassy not being allowed in. They were both approved

In Islamabad you can talk to a real person at the embassy?!?! Wow in Ankara, the only real person who you can talk to is the operator, who is rude and unhelpful and refuses to transfer you to a real person and puts you to an automated recording before you can even finish your sentence. I wish I could get actual answers with my fiance's visa.

Ours went from AP (221G denial) to ready with a new CC and becoming a non immigrant visa on June 24th. Back to AP on the 25th. CEAC says Your visa case is currently undergoing necessary administrative processing. This processing can take several weeks. Please follow any instructions provided by the Consular Officer at the time of your interview. If further information is needed, you will be contacted. If your visa application is approved, it will be processed and mailed/available within two business days.
It has been 2 days!!!!! NVC said we were approved when I called. I want to know the actual truth. Just send our visa. I hate this whole process. I am sick of crying and worrying and puking

Dell, Is she Turkish or Iranian? Hopefully your problems get solved soon.
We may need to take another trip to Ankara. Our visa packet came with a tear in the envelope. We may need to get it resealed.
