Yes but what if CBP gives us problems?
-
Can't we tell CBP that it arrived like that?

Here is a rant for you all. We finally got his visa yesterday and there is huge rip in the envelope. It looks like now we have to book a plane back to Ankara just to get a new freaking envelope. This process could take a few days or even weeks although I don't want to wait more than a few hours. It arrived like this, they use crappy envalopes and a careless postal service, why can't I get it fixed immediately. I don't want to delay our trip. We have a deadline
-
If this is a rant, why didn't you specify that? You asked questions and were clearly looking for advice. Guess I wasted my time trying to help. Good luck!
As you only applied for your K-1 a year ago and have no experience with ripped envalopes and what to do and are obviously not an expert in US immigration, you wasted your time yes.
-
I do want advice, which is to be told that this rip is obviously not a problem. I don't want to be put in some pile. I just need a new envalope. I want to go home with my fiance like I planned
-
Our visa has been issued already! Don't we get priority
-
I am not being rude in the slightest. The documents are in my hand and I WILL HAND DELİVER THEM TO OUR EMBASSY. I will NOW 100% book tickets. Again, I do not appreciate your tone. Also you are not an expert on this
-
ETA for an envalope? All one has to do is put the papers in a new envalope and stamp it. Why this would take more than a few hours is beyond me?
-
First, your processing time has been pretty fast...8 months is not bad. Some people wait much longer than this....years for some people.
Second, just go get the envelope resealed. Clearly, you think it is a problem. Go fix the problem. Yes, it sucks, and it is a hassle. Welcome to life...things are not always fair.
Third, if you want to buy your plane tickets, buy them. However, nobody wants to read about it if it does not work out since you have clearly been advised not to buy the tickets until you have all your documents in hand.
Good luck! I am sure whatever you decide will be the right choice for you.
Can you not read?!?!?!?!??! We have the documents in our hand. So I don't see why a rip on an envalope should stop us from making plans. I have to fix the problem but I shouldn't be made to wait more than a few hours because it arrived in this condition. I don't appreciate your tone!

The expiration date isn't until October but we already told family to come for a party at the end of August. We also need to get married and provide a marriage certificate to our new apartment ASAP or we could lose it. This is just ridiculous that a stupid envelope MAY cause us to be delayed. The embassy needs a better envelope and needs to use a better courrier service that doesn't treat mail like garbage. And if a person has good eyesight it is pretty obvious that we haven't tampered with it. I don't have time to sit around for these people to work slowly. My embassy hasn't even emailed me back yet. I am not happy about this at all. The embassy should take more precautions against cheap envalopes.
-
Our embassy says this:
The Consular Section strongly encourages you NOT to buy your tickets or make travel arrangements until after your visa is approved and you have it in hand. The Consular Section cannot guarantee that your visa will be approved and cannot be responsible for the consequences of your decision to buy a non-refundable plane ticket.
Our visa is in hand so we should be able to make arrangements and show them.

Everything on the visa itself is fine. We need to be in the US on the 27th AT THE LATEST. Getting a new envalope should take someone 10 minutes. I don't want to wait for a few days nor do I trust the post office. I cannot believe we have to go through all this mess because of a rip on a stupid envalope that we didn't make. I have been going through this visa process for almost a year and now this comes up. I really want this fixed within a few hours. If I have to delay my departure date because of a rip on a stupid envalope, I will cry.
-
Should we go ahead and book a US plane ticket? Will that make them do it more quickly?
-
The embassy is an hour plane trip from me. I will go first thing on Monday. I really want to walk out of the embassy with a new visa packet that day. I don't want to wait a few days and I don't want to use the postal service again!
-
I just want to cry. I don't want to use the postal service. I don't want to wait more than a few hours for something that wasn't our fault.

Tomorrow is a holiday :( I heard on here it can take weeks to reseal a package (something which most people could do in 5 minutes). Should I make plane tickets and show that we don't want to and shouldn't have to wait around for something like this?

I sent an email but we will probably go Monday morning. The tear is only 3 inches max, it isn't big enough that someone put their hand in and messed with the papers.
-
It is so unfair that our embassy won't let me speak to a real person on the phone and other embassies will. All we get is an operator who won't even let me ask a question before he transfers me to an automated menu that doesn't give me any useful information. I don't have time for this #######. I just want to go back home and bring my fiance with me and new issues just keep popping up.
-
The security guard was quite unfriendly yelling at everyone. I tried to go during the interview but he woudln't even let me talk. I sent an email to the immigrant section but this may take 5 days for a response. Our lawyer said not to worry but I don't know. Another thing I looked at the website and the turkish and english translations during the FAQ section are different. In English it says to come monday through friday and in Turkish it only says monday and thursday. The security guard didn't know much English but I may show him a print out from the website. I am just concerned this will take so long
-
They denied me entry during the interview. I am so upset, this isn't our fault and I don't want to wait more than a few hours.
-
What if the security guard doesn't let me in. I am the USC in this case.
-
How do I contact them? Calling them is useless and I don't want to wait for an email. The embassy website just tells us to show up. I better get this fixed within a few minutes because we are about to buy plane tickets
