Hey guys, i have been quietly following the posts on this site and finally decided to join in. I filed my N-400 online (5 year basis from Champaign-Urbana, IL) on June 10, 2018 and had my biometrics done in Indianapolis, IN after few weeks. I haven't seen any change in the status after that and it's been 8 months. Estimated time show 6 months. Some who filed on July 2018 from IL is all done with interview and everything. What is the basis of the application process? Any idea? I'm just curious. Also, i am curious as to why i had to do my biometrics from IN even though i filed as IL resident and am i Chicago filer if i file online from IL?. Thanks in advance.

They send people near by support center for biometrics. it can be anywhere near by you. i am not sure but i heard if you are not living in chicago it will take longer. i live in chicago so my case is faster. i am waiting for oath.

    Hi Everyone!

Hope all of you are enjoying the summer season!

I would want to seek advise from everyone about the extension letter. Mine is coming up this September and my I-751 is still in the process (Transferred to Local Office).

Should I have my passport stamped with I-551? I dont plan of going out of the country if I dont have my greencard in my hand, just to make sure lol.

Is it necessary? Thank you to everyone who will contribute!

stamp is only if you want to go out, renew DL, show proof at work else you dont need. i dont know when you applied but you should get 18 month extesion letter.

    Hi there,

My Welsh husband and I filed for ROC in June of 2017 and hadn't heard anything about our case until a letter came last week asking us both to attend a I-751 interview in the middle of September. So far in the I-751 June 2017 filers forum, I haven't really seen anyone else be called for an interview. Has anyone else experienced this, specifically in Chicago? We also applied for N-400 in May of 2018, so someone had said this was possibly a joint interview for I-751/N-400, but the form only mentions the ROC so I'm not sure if this is actually a possibility. Any information about ROC interviews would be helpful as I've looked through the forum but haven't found too much. I thought my paperwork was super thorough and proved we were a legit couple but now I'm wondering if they noted a red flag or something (there is no reason that I can think of for us to be red flagged however) and that is why we are being called. Thanks!

Chicago office does not do combo interview. Your i-751 must be approved before you go for N-400 interview which is 8 to 15 month wait time.

i am from chicago as well my case  i-751 was approved yesterday (TSC) i also applied N-400 on july 1st.

take all evidences with you such as latest pictures, trip tickets etc. dont be stressed. your case could be random pickup otherwise  you would get RFE if they had less evidence.

One of my friend had n-400 interview today and it took her 8 months.

But what's really holding them to send me the card? I made so many info pass and they kept on saying pending even though the officer after the interview that I was approved. This whole process is too much headache

since you guys are not living togather did you update new mail address for green card etc?

If case was approved you should get GC or you can get I-551 stamp on passport until you get response.

That’s great news! I wonder if it matters when you applied for citizenship . In your case you applied not for example in April 2018, like exactly a year from first application, but a bit later, 3 months later in July. May be they were about to transfer your case, before your N400 application. But this is good for you!! As Texas in general has cases approved fast.

Thank you. i heard if you are in cook county your N-400 case will be fastest. mine is cook county.

I applied in May 2018 in Chicago, no movement for citizenship yet, estimated time completion for citizenship is July 2019. Since they didn't transfer the case , I am not sure, when to expect an interview. But I know, that they don't do combos here, so it will be 2 interviews most likely.

Hi from chicago!! i am April 2017 filler and appiled N-400 on 7/1/2018. i had biometrics on 7/23/2018 for N-400.

I-751 was transferred to TSC on 7/6/2018 and got 18 month extension letter this week.

    Hi all,

I just have a concern that I would like to clear here.

I filled my I-751 in April 2018. Got my biometrics done, received I-797 notice for an year extension which clearly states allowed travel and work until june 2019.

For a safer side, I got my passport stamped as I am travelling to India.

Will my travel be safe? What documents do I carry with me as my green card is no more with me. Field officer took it while stamping my passport.

    Please help!
