I guess bring it just in case. Will you go with her ?

ya will do but my concern was i don't have naturalization certificate so feeling a bit scared about that.   Also, i am seeing mix reviews of going/not going with the interview for spouse who is US Citizen.  I have an important work meeting that day and making it there would be hard.

  2. My wife finally got her interview date on Nov 15 but one of the documents to bring to the interview is proof of spouse birth or naturalization certificate or certificate of citizenship.   When applying for n400 we used old US passport date as when i (US Citizen) became a citizen.  I have a new passport that we attached to the application as proof.

My question is should my wife take original passport of mine to the interview? that's all i got and they accepted the copy of passport and gave us the interview, so i guess it should be fine.

  3. Thank

All of your new and extended evidence looks good. Yes, transcripts are better.

Have your inlaws produce a document that states that you've been living with them since x date (where x=the date you started living with them), that you live together and you help out with bills. Everybody signs it and it's as official as any other lease.

Everything else, just add the updated versions: current insurance cards, more bank statements, etc.

Now may also be a good time to add some affidavits from people who know you as a couple.

Thank you for replying! will do as suggested.  Does Transcripts need to be signed?

  4. Hello, we sent i-751 application on July 4 2016 and finally heard back as we were waiting for 10- year green card but instead got RFE.  Let me explain as to why they think our evidence is not good.  I know we messed up please read and answer my questions on bottom as we are stressing. Sorry for long post i wanted you guys to completely understand our situation.

    What we sent:
    •    Copy of Permanent Reside Card (front and back).
    •    Copy of US Visa.
    •    Copy of Pakistani Passport.
    •    Copy of Social Security Card.
    •    Two notarized sworn affidavits by U.S. citizen friends, attesting to our relationship and marriage.
    •    Copy of 2015 1040 Joint Tax Return (RFE paper says these were not signed? i don't understand where we suppose to sign these when printed duplicate copies from turbo tax)
    •    Copy of 2014 1040 Joint Tax Return.(RFE paper says these were not signed? i don't understand where we suppose to sign these when printed duplicate copies from turbo tax)

NO 2016 Join Tax Return at the time for 2016
    •    Copy of 2015 Insurance cards showing joint coverage.
    •    Copy of 2015 Golden Rule Insurance showing joint coverage
    •    Copy of Verification letter from Cigna showing joint coverage.
    •    Copy of Cigna Insurance Statement of 2015-2016 month statement.
    •    Copy of 401K showing beneficiary of US Citizen.  (we didn't have this enabled under my employer until we started i-751 process and quickly added my wife to my plan and doc we sent showed this change taking place on 06/01/2016 right before we sent the application)

    •    Copy of Joint bank account statement. (we didn't think about opening a joint account and wife had her own even though it was at same address and bills were paid using either hers or mine but around 06/01/2016 we opened a joint account right before we sent the application)
    •    Many pictures of us since my wife arrived in USA.

So i know we shouldn't have opened a new account right before sending application it looks as if we faked all documents but we had no choice as we didn't' even think all this was needed  Could i do the items below?.

    1. Now that its August 2017-Joint bank account has been opened for more than a year (Statements available for entire year showing both of our bills coming out of 1 account) If i send all 12 months statements could that work? Since its not a new account anymore.

    2. 401K has not been changed or my wife name not removed its still there.  Amount has grown.

    3. Instead of 1040 tax returns i got tax transcripts for 2014-2015-2016 would these be better i think and do i sign them? i have heard they like Tax Transcripts instead of 1040.

    4. Meanwhile we sent n400 application with Tax transcript for 2014-2015-2016 instead of 1040 and Bank account/401K documents and other evidence we filled n400 week ago and have bio-metric appointment in 2 weeks. What happens with n400 now?

We are thinking to resend mostly all we sent before with Tax Transcripts instead of 1040 forms and more pictures/statements. We don't have any other evidence in terms of what RFE doc says.

    • We live with our in laws (send her money via bank transfer to her account for help with mortgage and bills)
    • All utilities are under in laws name
    • No life Insurance
    • No official Rent/properly
    • No Child

    Any tips/suggestions/comments please feel free

We filed the on-line N400 on 7/17/2017.  The only glitch I saw with the process was that when we uploaded multiple documents, they all ended up with the same name.  DELETE did not work.  I uploaded each document separately after that and the system took them correctly.

    Jerry

I had that problem where all ended up with same name and i couldn't delete them! so what was your fix? Like you attached 1 file --uploaded and than repeat for each section? but if the old documents didn't delete what did you do with them?

Good luck everyone. I filed my case yesterday, 7/16/17 as well (online) so now the waiting game begins. It seems that I had the most issue with the attachments as the system refused to cooperate. I wasn't really worried about the duplicates but the attachments were overriding no matter what I did. Anyway, all is well that ends well!

If your attachments were overriding no matter what than how did you proceed? deleted all of them from website? which they don't go away.  Really interested to see how you did yours as my whole application is done but now doing paper application

Yep, I am getting the same thing. Duplicate documents showing up when i know that i uploaded one document each. The kicker is that even when i delete the attachments and save, it shows the same attachment when i go back and check. This is really frustrating.

ya i have been filling out the application on paper now.

    Question for all

    1. I have 1040 tax forms, instead of transcripts can i send those? i can't request online tax tanscripts as my phone number is not under my name so  i am unable to verify my self and create account.  I have requested paper transcripts

    2. About blank/ N/A area i am still confused as to what to do for area that don't apply to me.  Random post here say leave it blank, some say do N/A on all empty space and some say first line do N/A.  What should i do?

    3. For package, i have a normal file folder like here (https://www.amazon.com/Smead-Folder-Letter-Assorted-11943/dp/B00006IF1S) and will stack all papers with paper clips is that fine?

    4. Do i need to include Table of Contents page TOP of all papers? i think the pay via credit card document says it needs to be on the top

    1.  Look at your naturalization certificate.  That will have the date you became a US Citizen.  If you were born in the US, then you just click that you became a citizen at birth.  The date on the passport just shows the date you were approved to get a passport---that date has nothing to do with the date you became an American citizen.

    2.  That is correct.  You do not need to submit photos if you are filing from within the States.

Thanks for the reply but i don't have naturalization certificate i got the passport through my dad without needed certificate

  8. First of all thanks for this forum for great answers and tips few of my questions regarding n400 application:

    1. Part 10, questions 6 b "Date Your current spouse became U.S Citizen

I am doing this application for my wife who is Green Card holder waiting for conditions to be removed (within 90 days limit).  I am a US Citizen who has a US passport from 2011 not expired and my previous expired passport made in 2004 when i became a citizen has the date i got it but i don't have that passport on me anymore and i can't find it prob shredded the old one when  got new US passport. Should i put 2004 date for "when i became a US Citizen" from my old passport which i don't have with me to show in case they request it or should i use 2011 new passport scane?

    2. Do we need 2 Passport style pictures? it seems that if you are overseas you need it but if you are in USA than you don't is that correct?

    3. I originally tried to do the online application and when i got to "evidence" tab i had uploaded few scans of green card section etc and closed the + button to upload tax returns as i went back to look at "green card" section where i uploaded scanned copies of my wife Green card the website displays same name for each file uploaded! I had uploaded 2 pdf files 1 file with front of Green card and 1 file with back of the green card but when you "view or download" the uploaded documents they all show one file and the other file uploaded displays same thing as the first file.  Another example i uploaded 3 years of tax return but website shows same 2013 returns uploaded 3 times even though i have uploaded 3 years and 3 separate files.  So please be aware i don't want the application to be processed and have only 1 years of tax return or only the front of my wifes green card uploaded.

  9. My previous post is linked below, but my question if Extension letter expires on 09/06/17 as my green card expired a year before on this date (09/06/16) do i need to get the stamp while traveling to Canada by road? i am traveling on June 23 and be back July 2 before NOA (received date which was 07/05/16) which doesn't hold any importance as we figured out from post below that NOA expires on 1 year from time of Green Card expiration.   So should i wait 30 day before NOA expires to get stamp or should i go now? What would you guys recommend.  Technically Extension hasn't expired so shouldn't be any issues traveling without i-551 stamp.

The 1 year extension letter extends the validity of the expiration date on your green card, example: My card expires on July 20, 2017. The letter extends that to expire on July 20, 2018. If my I-751 has not been approved before 30 days prior to that date which would be June 20, 2018, then I need to make an infopass appointment at my local USCIS to have an I-551 stamp placed into my passport.

    In your case:
    Your status expires 09/06/2017

Thank you, i just called the USCIS again and they said the extension is from a year of the letter :/ idk what to do, should i make the appointment with infopass? Since letter expires 07/05/17?

  11. Hello

Just called USCIS and they are told me they are processing April applications.

    My questions:

i-797 Notice of Action-this letter says your resident status is extended for additional year.  Is this the extension letter i need to travel with?

Receipt date on NOA is 07/05/06 and green card expired on 09/06/16.  Does my resident status expires on 07/05/17? (1 year from letter recieved date) or expires on 09/06/17? (1 year from expired greencard)

USCIS rep suggested i make appointment with local office and see if they can extend the resident status. What should i do?

    07/04/06 Case received by USCIS

    07/05/16 NOA1 received

    08/01/16 Biometrics completed

  12. Just wanted to confirm again, What do you guys see on the USCIS website regarding case status?

  13. Also filled in July.  Still waiting.  What do you guys see on the USCIS website regarding case status?

  14. Hey guys few questions:

    1. i-797 NOA this has receipt number and the line "Your conditional resident status is extended for a period of one year" Is this one year extension of greencard?

    2. Filled June 2016, NOA in July 2016 and Bio-metric appointment in August 2nd 2016, since than we haven't received any other status. Called USICS they are asking for "2nd" receipt number which is on the Bio-metric appointment and we can't seem to locate that.

Does it take this long to get green card from the bio-metric appointment? what do we do now that we can't find the second "2nd" receipt number

  15. Hello

My wife filled the i-751 and got the NOA (which is the 1 year extension paper)? Than in August she went in for finger print appointment. I wanted to call USCIS to check status and they asked for receipt number which is on NOA? and we can't find our NOA. Looked everywhere. Of course Green Card is expired and we don't know what to do.

    What should we do?

We have the Finger Print appointment letter or the receipt paper but no Paper that said this is "extension" for 1 year

  16. Hello all few questions if you could please help as USCIS helpline can't access i-751 form to answer any of my questions.

I am a conditional resident who is looking to remove conditions and my husband is US citizen.

    1. Petitioner is the Conditional Resident? Or the US Spouse

    2. Page 3, Part 4 (Information about the U.S Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident Spouse) I selected 1.a ( Spouse or Former Spouse) and entered my US citizen information in 2.a (Other information).

Problem is when i entered my US Spouse information in Page 3. Part 4 it auto fills US Spouse information on page 8. Part 8. Shouldnt page 8. Part 8 be the name of conditional resident? as it talks about providing fingerprints. US citizen doesn't need to provide fingerprints no?

    3. Page 8. Part 8 Spouse or Individual's Signature, is that US Spouse or conditional resident?

    4. Instructions say to write N/A or NONE, would i really write that for Middle name, others name use and children name etc? Didn't make sense to write N/A in the middle name section as i don't have any middle name.

    5. I made $500 and $90 money order, that should be fine right?

Sorry if it's confusing but i hope you guys can understand my question. Step by Step guide has the old form as an example.
