  1. No I never got reply, but I was able to reschedule it to more than a month earlier date.

If I remember correctly, it didn't take long to hear from back th embassy. I think it was only couples of days so you should hear from them back soon.

I'm already in the states now, and I hope you will get your visa soon.

    Thank you for your reply!

I got a reply from the embassy today - they refused my request. :crying: They stated it was because it was not a humanitarian emergency.

  2. I sent a request to the Tokyo embassy to get an earlier interview date, and the reply came today - because it's not a humanitarian emergency, they denied my request. I didn't put a reason in my original request, but I also didn't feel there was a need to. I had hope because I had seen other couples have success in moving their interview dates... I was really hoping we would both be able to be in the States for Christmas, but now I have to decide to either stay here in Japan with my husband and miss another Christmas & New Year's away from my family, or head home and not be with my husband during the holidays.
My mood really matches the cloudy/rainy/cold weather we're having here today...

  3. Hi! I'm writing to seek your help regarding interview date change at the embassy in Tokyo.

I'm currently waiting for my interview at Tokyo embassy for CR1 visa.

NVC scheduled my interview to be held in October, but if it's possible I really would like to change to an earlier date.

I'm now waiting for NVC to send my paperworks to Tokyo so that I can submit my request online.

My question is how long does it usually take Tokyo embassy to reply after submitting the request form online?

I'm not sure if the embassy will honor my request, but I wanted to gather information from people with experience doing it.

Also does anyone know how long it takes NVC to send paperworks to the embassy in Tokyo?

Thank you in advance for your help, and have a great weekend!!

Hello! I was just wondering - did you ever get an answer to your first question? I sent the request form for an earlier interview on Monday, & since then, I've been constantly checking my email for a response. Do you remember how long it took for them to get back to you?

    Thank you!

  4. We got our interview date! It is December 29th. I'm thrilled to have the date, but I was really hoping for an earlier one - both because I was hoping we would be able to get to the States before Christmas & because having to go to Tokyo around New Year's is so expensive.(ToT)So! I will be contacting the embassy as soon as possible to hopefully get an earlier date. Please wish me luck!

  5. Hello! I received a long-waited email from NVC today, & I was hoping someone with a similar experience could confirm my hopes!

The email included a letter with a checklist with a mistake on our sponsor's AOS, but it also included this:

    ______F - FINANCIAL EVIDENCE:______________________________________
We have finished reviewing your case. We will tell you when we set an interview
date for your case. Please do not contact the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in
TOKYO, JAPAN about your interview until we give you the date.
We saw that either your Affidavit of Support was incomplete, some of your
supporting documents were missing, or both. We have marked the missing items
    on the checklist below.
You should send any of the missing items to ------------ so he or
she can take them to the visa interview. The Consular Officer will review the
missing items at the time of the interview.
Please pay special attention to any items related to the Affidavit of Support form.
If the checklist shows any problems with the form, you should complete a new
form and send it to ------------.
    (Name blocked out)
So... Does this mean... the rare & beautiful... case complete?!
I checked the website, and the AOS Fee has changed from PAID to N/A. I also talked to my sponsor this morning & asked her to send the fixed AOS.
Anyway, I was hoping someone might have a similar experience? If not, I'll try calling NVC on Monday to see what's up.
    Thank you!
  6. I'm in a similar situation, OP. From reading other people's experiences, it seems like NVC is pretty backlogged with cases, & it is taking them a while to connect the DS-261 with the the case & thus produce the IV fee. For these past 2-ish months, it looks like it is taking 25-35 business days for the IV fee to come up for a lot of people. It sucks, but I guess we all just have to sit & wait. :( In the meantime, have you sent out your AOS package & starting getting your IV documents ready?

  7. Yea thats exactly what happened to me too! I thought they wouldnt take this much longer to let me pay and go to next step! When is your 30 days mark going to be?? Are you going to have an interview at Tokyo? Really hope we can have another step and go to the States though...been waiting too long.

Our 30 days will be on July 15th - I'm really hoping that we're able to pay the fee before then. (>o<) Yeah, the interview will be in Tokyo for us! We live in Sendai, so we're planning to make it a small vacation to go down there.

Have you had any updates on being able to pay the fee?

  8. OP, I think I have the same problem as you - I get the same page/message when I click on the IV's PAY NOW link, even in IE. Looking at other people's cases, it seems like some just take a while to get invoiced after the DS-261 is completed, so I'm hoping that's what is happening with my case (& possibly yours). I'm planning to wait a few more weeks (until the 30 day mark) & then try calling.
Fingers crossed that we're both able to move on to the next step soon!

  9. Hello! We seem to be in similar boats, so I thought I might share my thoughts.

For USCIS, I sent in an original konin jyuri/marriage report, as well as a simple translation I did in Word and a 'certification' that I was able to translate the document. I didn't send in our konin todoke, & I didn't have any problems. I also sent in my husband's honseki.

I haven't sent in my IV package yet, so I'm not exactly sure, but I think NVC only needs the jyuri. Did you send the honseki when you sent the original petition? The Tokyo Embassy website mentions that the honseki can be used in lieu of a birth certificate.

    Good luck!

  10. & I was wondering why my I-130 got approved so quickly! It's really interesting to see other people with similar situations!

    1. Country USC resides in: Japan
    2. Is there a USCIS field office in this country / Is DCF still possible? No
    3. When did you file the I-130: April 2014
    4. How long had you been living abroad: 4 years
    5. Do you reside in the country legally? Yes
    6. What is the reason for your residence: Work permit

    7. Did you list your foreign address on all forms in I-130 package? Yes
    8. Did you send I-130 package from abroad? No - we forwarded it to my parents living in the States & had them send it to the Lockbox
    9. Did you include evidence of your residence abroad in the I-130 package? Yes. I sent our Japanese apartment lease & marriage certificate.
    10. Did you mention the fact you reside abroad in the cover letter or write a letter describing your current situation and the evolution of your relationship with your spouse (mentioning your residence abroad)? No
    11. Has your case been "auto-expedited"? How long between NOA1 and NOA2? Yes, 20 days.

  11. Thank you, everyone, for your replies!

I originally emailed NVC on the 21st, but seeing the wait time others had experienced, I decided to suck it up & call them. Calling internationally & being on hold for 30 minutes made me cry inside, but at least I have some peace of mind now. :)
