  1. yeah, tell me abt it...i am so bored right now i can use some glimmer of hope so i can get on with the applying stage...i tried applying to some establishments (starbucks or ralph's coz of my kids and they are nearby our place) but they all require a SSN or state ID and the darn DMV wont issue me one because my I-94 is already less than 60 days from expiring....and they wont listen to reason (i.e. i would have applied earlier but their latest appt available date was 1/31 and i cant really stay the whole day because we have no ride that would have that much time in their hand to accompany us)

same here. all is based on the EAD. my SSN and DMV. I gave up on applying for jobs. I just wait until I have the card.

  2. ohhh...alright. thanks for that very informative input Skyview:)

    good to know. idea9dv.gif

i wonder when my interview would be tho...i just got an email on 3/17 that my status was updated to testing & interview but havent gotten the hard copy in the mail yet. and no update still on my EAD....oh well, probably everything will come up soon.

Good luck to all of us still waiting:)

we have the same AOS timeline. I haven't heard anything from USCIS. Im not so worry about the interview date but i would love to have my EAD/AP at least for now. dancin5hr.gif

  3. nope...i read from other's experiences that they were interviewed separately. probably to find out if their answers matched...if that is the new thing now, i am all for it coz i sure could use my husband's presence to calm my nerves down when my time is up...well, i am so happy for you:) Good job!

those are stokes interviews. those will be held if the immigrations officers already have doubts on ur marriage. most first interviews are together. If u have a second interview it will be a stokes most likely. yes, they check if the answers match.

    SEE HERE

When a husband and wife did not convince an immigration officer that their marriage was real at their first green card interview (adjustment of status interview) they usually get a second chance. This second chance is known as the Stokes interview (also Known as the marriage fraud interview). The name Stokes Interview comes from the names of two of the plaintiffs in a class action lawsuit against the government that created the framework for the interview. At the Stokes Interview the immigration officer is there to determine if the marriage is bona fide or fraudulent. The immigration officer will bring the couple in to his or her office and may discuss why they believe the first interview didn't go well. The immigration officer will go over the procedures of the interview and then will separate the husband and the wife from each other. Once separated the immigration officer will ask very personal and invasive questions to one of the married couple and then the other. The interview will be recorded and the statements will be compared for discrepancies against each other. The immigration officer will then bring the couple in together and give them a chance to explain any discrepancies. It is the couple's job to explain the details of their life and convince the immigration officer of their genuine relationship. If the couple's answers matched and convinced the immigration officer of their relationship then their case will be approved. However, if the immigration officer is not convinced and has reasons to believe the marriage was created for the purpose of getting a green card, the immigration officer will deny the case.

  4. Yes you should apply for EAD with I-485 because you will get EAD within 2 and half months. With EAD you can work legally in the US. While it takes time to get green card (final approval of I-485). It might take anywhere between 3 months to 10 months. Plus if you file for I-485 , there is no additional fee for EAD. And once you get EAD you don't have to wait to get green card to work legally.

    i second that...

  5. Hey everyone. Congratulations to all of you who got approved or having their interview soon! No changes for us so far.

AP and EAD are still under initial review and AOS under Acceptance. Its now 45 days since filing all the paperwork. Do you think this is normal? Shouldn't something have changed? I was also expecting an RFE - but so far nothing. Hopefully we won't get one on a later point.

But my biggest concern right now is that we might move in about two weeks (Hubby accepted a job offer) - halfway across the country. We are so excited - it will be such an improvement for us. But I am scared that the EAD or AP could get lost. Would you change the address now? Even though we will still be here for another two weeks. I thought this might be the best idea incase they might approve EAD and AP maybe next week or so and then it gets lost in the mail. We have family at the place where we would move to and I could change the address to one of them.

    What would you do?

Thank you and good luck to all of you!

One of my friends moved from TX to GA. She filled for AOS in TX last yr January. The files received Atlanta January 2014. So it took a yr for them to transfer those files. We are moving too and I'm already scared it is going to happening to us too.

  6. Hi Everyone,

I Just received approval for my AP which is odd because I didn't file with my AOS in fact it was an after thought which I filed two weeks ago just for the heck of it. Has anyone ever seen the AP approved before anything else?

my friend received her AP before anything else. Usually it comes as a combicard but u never know….

My AP/EAD is still in "initial review" and my AOS in "Request for Evidence Response Review".

    Good luck to everyone!

Happy for those who made already so much progress!

same here for almost 2 weeks now.

  7. Hello.

Is there any applicant here from Atlanta, GA?

It seems like it takes longer than average for Atlanta filers for everything.

I am seeing a lot of people here who filed way after I did and already have a green card in their hand.

I have no idea what's going on with the local office.

Dear Georgians! please share your frustration and stories!

I'm from ATL. Atl is backlogged. Lots of ppl been waiting forever.

  8. Skyview - I don't know your timeline but you can accept and somehow let them know you can't start for a couple of weeks or a month and hope your EAD arrives in that much time. They may be ok with that. And if not - I don't know legitimate employers who would hire you without proper authorization.

I don't know how to make my timeline visible. Im still on initial review on my i 756. Ive done my bios 2 weeks ago and nothing had changed. My AOS is on Response of RFE. I don't know how long I have to wait to get my EAD. I don't want to do anything w/o my EAD but its really killing me not to get the chance to work for them.
