  1. We are in a similar situation - my wife naturalised early dec, we sent the docs via email and still haven't heard anything - we phoned the nvc, they were less than helpful.

Any ideas on timeframes? as nice as Ireland is, we wanna move to sunny FL now haha, too cold here :P

You should hear from them in about a month from when you sent them the email.

I need to ask you a question plz.

How long did you wife's naturalization process take from start to finish... Could you have done it faster and how long do you think it would take

  2. @ Franklinadamau, doshi800 nd dwheels76! I wrote that in faith. Yeah! Once my case is complete at NVC things will change for good for me.

Good thing to have faith... Who knows NVC might open the flood games like they did last year.

But as for me... I'm kind of realistic.. So when disappointment come... I won't be too surprised and heart broken

Right now NVC saying you can't access CEAC if your PD is not current

  3. At the rate of the VB now by this time next year they will be at 08Nov13. Maybe it will spend up but I so doubt it. Considering the battle raging in Congress and Senate and the Whitehouse I don't see any relief anytime soon.

Remember its not just green card holders. Many US citizens had to take a back seat when the Bulletin went current last year through the spring this year that's why many are at 12 to 17 months processing at USCIS. A US Citizen imagine! :wow:

So just count your blessings and be patient your turn will come.

    I don't really get it.

It's currently moving at the pace of 3 -5 weeks monthly and its currently in March 22nd 2013...

If it continues at that pace on average

Then by this time next year.. VB will be in March 2014.

My reason is because from observation of f2a VB of previous years... Sometimes it static and sometimes it jumps 2-3 months

  4. Haba cool down now!!!! If you get to wait at least two years to be with your spouse that's not a bad deal no kid born during that time would have outgrown knowing the other parent (blv you were joking when you said that ) i came into the country on an IR1 waited more than two years and my beautiful daughter born during the wait was at least fine(constant communication is key) so a lil wait is another tool i blv they use in checking valid relationships. Cos come to think of it a two year wait out of a 40years or more marriage is to me insignificant my thoughts oooooo

    Haha

I've been waiting for four years. Though it's worth it.

My wife left Nigeria back in 2010 but we were not married then.

    We got married this January

You've been here before and you should know how it fet

  5. @ Dordor, tnx!

@ NigeriaorBust, God forbid oooo! One yr ke to be current. V.B will be current once my case is complete at NVC.

You never know Wettin dey happen for here. My PD NA March 11th, 2014 and the approve me in 1 month and 3 weeks.

That's just part one of the application.. The part two is with NVC and since we're spouses of green card holders we'll have to wait for our PD to become current

    VERY slow process

Right now NVC is processing those whose PD are before March 22nd, 2013.

    Imagine the rubbish

Where you're getting it all wrong is that...Most of us have our case number and IIN but They've refused us to at least further the rest of our application and get case complete while waiting for our PD to become current. It wasn't like this in the previous year...

Even those with September 2013 PD still can't access CEAC and further their application.

So my dear... You see the US government don't care about families of green card holders...

Imagine how many families will be broken and how many children grow up without knowing their parents.

  6. By reading the pattern of the following movement in recent years visa bulletin , if you're still in F2A then you're better expect thing to happen in 2016 because you still need time to send docs paying fees reviewing times then you may or may not get checklists but if you get another 2 months..it is longer than we expected so use your precious time wisely.

Seeing you moving to IR1 is better , hope your wife get her citizenship sooner than later.

Haha... I give up on F2A...Wrong category to find oneself in

    By the way

I'm aware that she can file in for her citizenship 90 days to complete her 5 year stay requirement.

When is the perfect time for us to upgrade to IR1. As soon as it gets to the 90 days or exactly when she gets her citizenship?

  7. USCIS workloads will dramatically increase and same as NVC when their workloads increase they introduced new timeline and long duration of waiting as you can see during the period that retrogression occurred.

If your is approved by USCIS then i don't think it will effect your case in anyways since they just need to transfer to NVC and that's the end at USCIS.

Already have my case number and IIN just waiting to be current.

PD is March 11th 2014... From observation, I'll be current hopefully around September- November 2015.

My wife gets her citizenship by September 2015.

Funny how after all the suffering and waiting on the F2A queue... She gets her citizenship just when the long wait is over

  8. I guess the executive action is going to be comprehensive after all. And If it's comprehensive then F2A's will likely benefit from the executive action.... Read the most recent news below:

omeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said Saturday the president likely will issue a series of executive orders on immigration before the end of the year. The move could anger Republicans who have warned any such action could scuttle hopes for bipartisan cooperation.

Johnson, speaking at the Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California, said whatever actions President Obama takes will be comprehensive and include efforts to strengthen border security, Reuters reported.

"Were in the final stages of developing some executive actions," Johnson said. "We have a broken immigration system. The more I delve into it, the more problems I see."

  9. What will it exactly mean for F2A ?

My guess is as good as yours. but here's what Charles Oppenheim had to say when asked by The American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). Full text can be found in the link below

Q: There have been discussions around possibly interpreting INA §203(d) as allowing derivatives to immigrate without counting them against the annual limit. Assuming for the sake of argument that this interpretation is adopted, what effect would that have on priority dates in each category? What if they were interpreted to count against the overall limit but not the per-country limit?

A: The answer depends on the category. In the family-based preference categories, it would accelerate cut-offs but cut-offs would still exist. In the employment-based preference categories, all of them would be immediately current and would remain current for the foreseeable future. But, at some point the filing/approval of new petitions could require cut-off dates for some preferences/countries, and they would most likely be within one to two years of the actual calendar date.

  10. Obama likely to take executive action after elections on the 4th.

    I've been following it closely.

From today's new Within in the next few weeks, the Justice Department and Homeland Security will finalize their recommendations for immigration reform for the Obama Administration's executive action.

In another news, The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services has published a draft solicitation for a contractor capable of producing 4 million cards a year for five years and 9 million in the early stages that would allow immigrants to live and work in the country, Breitbart reports.

Prospects of such action affecting F2As positively.. But nobody knows yets

    This may be it

  11.

That unfortunately is not immigration reform. If you think otherwise, i suggest you look up the meaning of the word "reform". Then you'll understand why what the executive branch did to the Haitians wouldn't even come close to the meaning of the word.

If it's not '' Immigration reform '' then what is it

Well my friend.. You can call it whatever you like...

Feel free to read the article below

Obama Quietly Begins Unilateral Immigration Reform

by Keith Koffler on October 18, 2014, 11:38 am

President Obama Friday made a downpayment on the sweeping immigration reform he is expected to unilaterally declare once the elections are out of the way, permitting up to around 100,000 prospective Haitian immigrants to bypass immigration law and enter the country.

The move, a typical Friday announcement designed to attract minimum notice, eliminated wait times for future Florida Democratic voters Haitians who have been approved to gain green cards in two years, allowing them to make their way to the United States beginning in 2015 instead and begin working if they want.

Their entry has to have been petitioned by family members already in the United States.

Theres a gentleman near me who runs a flop house renting rooms out to immigrants, and the local authorities cant do a thing about it because theyre all family and the burden of proof is on the state to show theyre not.

Ill tell ya, that fellow has a large, changing, and even ethnically diverse family. Fortunately those living there now seem nice and even possibly related.

According to the New York Times, the new legalization has the same rationale that may be used as part of Obamas expected mass legalization program:

Fridays announcement is not part of that broader executive action, but includes an element that the administration is considering for wider use. In some proposals, temporary parole, like that planned for the Haitian relatives, could be offered to a much larger group of close relatives of American citizens who are in the United States illegally.

However, Haitians who snuck into the United States illegally are not included. Yet.

Which countries are next on President Obamas list? demanded Senate Judiciary ranking member Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa in a stinging statement. Will there be medical screenings before entry? Will work permits be granted automatically? How will this affect American workers?

Speaking to the Miami Herald, an administration official did not try to hide that the action was taken in lieu of legislation.

Comprehensive immigration reform would have solved this problem not just for Haitians but for all other nationalities who are waiting in the immigrant visa backlog because it would have substantially increased the numbers of family immigrant visas available and people would have been able to come in as permanent residents. As it hasnt happened, we are proceeding with this program.

Forget it Chuck. Americans as intended are becoming so inured to extralegal action by this administration that this will provoke hardly a yawn, and not even that from the mainstream press.

Haiti is a miserable place, where hundreds of thousands died in the 2010 earthquake. But there are many places suffering horribly in the world.

America the most compassionate country on earth. If a law gets in the way of a decision to target Haitians for relief, its the job of Congress, not Obama, to change it.

  12.  I apologize if this would come across as harsh but what were you expecting from a whitehouse petition?

A White House petition is just that, a petition. After a set number of signatures, they have to respond. Respond could merely mean issuing a statement. That itself is useless to us since we are expecting some action.

The White House (really the executive branch) can't do an immigration reform without Congress' help. That's just the way the system is designed.

I personally find these petitions (not just immigration ones, all of them) to be a complete waste of time.

A better way is to write a letter to your Congressman or Senator.

    Nope.. Do your research...

Obama has the power to and from the look of things he will..

Have you been following the news lately? I don't think so

    He already started quietly..

The Haitians are the first on the list

  13. I'm tired of these petitions. In the past.. They did nothing...

Obama has promised he's going to act with executive power immediately after November elections.

That means he's going to implement a new immigration reform policy with or without the approval of Congress.

    Republicans say he's joking

Though from past experience, I don't trust obama especially now that he's playing politics with the whole thing but till then all I have to do is wait

  14. Here's the latest...

NEWPORT Wales/WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Barack Obama said on Friday he will soon announce how he will address U.S. immigration reform, but sidestepped questions about whether he would wait until after November's midterm elections to take action.

Obama said his plan would include more enforcement for illegal immigration and steps to encourage legal immigration, and would address the politically contentious question of how to deal fairly with millions of undocumented people who have lived in the United States for years.

Obama has made it clear he wants to do what he can to improve the immigration system after Congress failed to agree on a package of reforms to fix long-standing issues.

Polls show Americans are concerned about the impact of undocumented immigrants on the country, and Democrats nervous about keeping control of the Senate have urged the White House to hold off on changes until after the elections.

In June, Obama promised to announce his decision by the end of summer. But last week, he signaled the timeline was in question.

Speaking at a NATO summit in Wales, Obama said he has received some recommendations from Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson and Attorney General Eric Holder on his options.

"I suspect that on my flight back, this will be part of my reading, taking a look at some of the specifics that we've looked at, and I'll be making an announcement soon," Obama told reporters at a news conference.

"In the absence of congressional action, I intend to take action, to make sure that we're putting more resources on the border, that we're upgrading how we process these cases, and that we find a way to encourage legal immigration," Obama said.

He also said he wanted to give undocumented immigrants who have been living in America for years "some path so they can start paying taxes, pay a fine and learn English, and be able to not look over their shoulder but be legal since they've been living here for quite some time."

The prospect of delays has upset the Hispanic community, which wants to see measures that remove the fear of deportation for many of the nation's 11 million undocumented immigrants.

"No more word games," Cesar Vargas of the DREAM Action Coalition, a group representing Latino youth, said in a statement.

But Bruce Morrison, a former Democratic congressman who was an author of the 1990 Immigration Act, said it was more important that Obama get the policy right rather than rush ahead with changes that could be quickly overturned by Congress.

"Political judgments here are more than just electoral judgments. They're judgments about getting something done that will actually stay done," he said in an interview.

Morrison, now an immigration lobbyist, said Obama's package should include measures to clear out backlogs in the legal immigration system, and an enforcement plan for illegal migrants.

The government has been grappling with an unexpected surge of nearly 63,000 children who have come across the southwestern border from Central American since October 2013.

"He needs to connect the dots and say, 'I'm preventing future kids-on-the-border incidents by the way in which I'm doing this administrative action," Morrison said.
