  1. So here is a question for all the England people out there that have already made the move. My fiance asked how hard it was to adjust to life over here. Not so much the food and stuff. But like obviously you guys use different words than us for some things. Did you guys adjust that and start using our words for those things to make the transition easier especially at work? What about spelling of words? Since several words we spell different than you guys? Did you adjust that here and try to spell as we do? He was just wondering as that is the only thing concerning him , especially in regards to being able to find a job. Well that and the driving! LOL! Any advice?

  2. Welcome to the forum.

    Thank you!

The letter will be fine. London will happily accept that with nothing more. They aren't that strict on an I-134.

Ok great thanks Nich, i was just worried about the date on the letter not being within the last couple months but should be ok. Thanks again for all your help. i think I know what I'm doing now, for the most part. Appreciate it.

  3. One more thing if I may? I had my company recently provide a letter in regards to my salary and job status. They just recently sent this to me. Will it matter that it's dated a few months before the interview if I have current dated pay stubs to go along with it? Or would I need to see if they will send me one again closer till (I thought it would take longer to obtain) with a closer date on it? Thanks again.

  4. A guy helped write parts of that guide and he was one for pushing the envelope. I tend to be more conservative and want to follow the plan of the embassy so the ducks get in the proper row. You can certainly book it if you have what you need, but don't pick an appointment that is a few days off should they have an opening. Allow time for your file to get to London.

And if you don't have your shots and shot record yet, work on that appointment first. Some people have found it difficult to get an appointment with their GP or the shot nurse. You will save yourself money and trouble with adjustment of status by having all shots recorded at Knightsbridge.

Yes I tend to be that way myself. I will play it by ear and see what happens, maybe make an appointment a little way out or just wait. We will see. We are currently working on the shot record and any shots he may need beforehand to save us the headache plus his police certificate. So we are getting those in order now while waiting. NOA2 hopefully will be soon so we would like to have everything ready as well as we can before so we can just try and do it as quickly as we can. Thank you again for the clarification, it does help make sure I was reading it correctly. It really does help having someone that can give you detailed information. Thanks again!

  5. You can only schedule the medical when you have the case number, they won't make an appointment without it and obviously you need your police certificate, vaccination records and 4 passport photographs, they can be uk size, the ones to take to the interview must be US sized visa photographs.

You must not have read the entire London k1 process because you seem to have missed this.

Please read it again as everything you need to know is in that link.

No actually I did read the entire post multiple times. I did see that in there about that but since some things were noted as being different and changes etc and also other information floating about I just want to be sure. Because reading it and understanding and making sure I have the steps down and the timeline down are not the same thing. So I just wanted verification and clarification that I was understanding everything correctly. As I stated I'm still sort of a noob at some parts of this. Thanks again for the help.

London intends for your file to be received and checked in before your start sending things as noted on their website:

You should only complete these steps if you have received notification from the Embassy confirming that your case file has been received in the Immigrant Visa Unit in London.

The medical people will ask for your LND number when you call for an appointment. You can get that number by calling the NVC. However I would suggest that you know your file is in London before attending the medical. That way the results don't arrive at the embassy before they have your file. Also do have your police certificate and shots done before attending. If you attend after Mar 31, you won't need a flu jab.

Photos- medical people will take US size or UK size as long as all four are the same photo. They attach to the results pages for ID so not issue about size. Embassy requires US size because it will be your visa photo and an official US document.

Pay for the visa and courier online AFTER the interview date has been assigned. There is a separate post in the K1 London guide with a link and steps to follow.

Ok awesome, that's what I wanted to make sure. I know it says we can do it before it arrives but I will take your advice and wait to attend medical until it arrives just to be save. Thanks again for the information and clarification . It is much appreciated to you both.

  6. Use this London specific guide. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/474161-london-k1-a-complete-guide/

It's a bit old and wobbly with links that have changed, but will still give you the basic procedures for a London K-1. It can't be edited once posted so there are some corrections added at the end to read.

    Corrections include--

Don't call the DOS number. They no longer help.

Four photos for medical. One for interview.

Mobile phones, headphones, car keys are now allowed inside the embassy so need to stow items at Gould's Pharmacy.

Yes I've read that multiple times. Thank you for that! Couple questions. When NOA2 comes and they send it to NVC, I know they assign case number and send on. But at what point can we schedule the medical? And where and when do we pay the visa fee? Also for the photos what size should they be for each? Thanks for the help. Those bits always confuse me.

  7. Hi guys K1 visa here. I've been on the site for a little while but just new to the forums part of it and trying to look around and post. I am from the states and my fiancé is from England. We are going through London UK consulate and hope to have NOA2 soon.just waiting and waiting at TSC. Been looking for more information on steps as to where payment is made etc after noa2 and when to schedule medical etc.. Just wanted to say hi and say thanks for any help in the future ?

    Deborah

  8. I do hope you are right. I see light at the end of the TSC tunnel hopefully. There are a handful of 08/25 - 08/27/14 NOA1 dates that have gotten their NOA2's in the last week. So we are right there, I'm just hoping that they do ours soon. I would like to get him here in time for summer vacation so we can get married then. Does anyone know if they were going to RFE would they probably have done it by now or that would be the same possibility as an approval/denial now? I didn't know if someone does a preliminary check on the paperwork before someone actually works the case and sends out RFE if something was missing. i mean I don't think anything is but was just trying to see my odds of getting RFE. I sure hope not. Good luck to you all.

  9. I have a quick question on this. If I do make enough income wise for my K1 for just the three of us. Would I still list my house on the form since it does ask for it and the information? If so, I don't have to supply any additional information regarding it do I? I mean I know I do for my job income and tax transcripts etc...but was curious on the house. Thanks in advise guys! :)

  10. Yep - that whole "being prepared" thing is what I'm trying to focus on. I am trying to look at it in a positive way - I have approx. 1.5 month left to prep and get my ducks in a row (though I feel pretty prepared now!) I have my long form birth certificate which I had to order from my country gov. Website since my original certificate is quite flimsy. I just need to get my police clearance, which is clean, I'm just not sure if I should get that now or if that should wait until I get approval.

As for all of the documentation, we sent our photos/conversations/plane itineraries/etc. to our immigration lawyer and she has all of that stuff. I wonder if she will be sending it to the Consulate or to me to bring to the consulate in order to have them present at the interview? I don't imagine that I'd have to scrounge up all of that stuff again. I hope not, haha.

Yep we have ordered his long form and are about to order his police certificate now to have ready for interview. I know that for our case for London the police certificate is valid for a year so it's ok to go ahead and get it. Check at yours and see what the date is for it to expire then you can decide the best time to get it. He is also getting shot record from the dr this week as well for his medical so we will have it ready. So pretty much a couple steps and we will be ready to do medical as soon as we can. As far as proof of the relationship, normally most people take a copy of everything they sent to USCIS on the initial petition with them to the interview just in case it is needed though it rarely is. And I will also include some new pics and conversations just to show the ongoing relationship in case it is needed. But in most cases unless they are questioning it, it's not necessary but best I feel to be prepared just in case! So I sent all that home with him last visit then I'll send just my extra stuff and my affidavit of support sometime soon so he will have it. But man trying to focus on that and still not get antsy some days is super hard. Being apart really does suck! lol

  11. Wow thats grate.! That guy should help you and your fiance too. The lawyer told my fiance that is not going to take that long but who knows, but just thinking that that it could take that long my stomach get small :s

Well each case is different so you could get lucky. But if you are at TSC most people are waiting about 6-7 (averaging for most about 6.5) months before they get their NOA2. So we have just prepared everything we could ahead of time so we would have it ready for when we got it. So the next steps after that would hopefully go as quickly as possible.

  12. Active military facing changes in station get priority, expedites get priority, people who apply from a foreign country get priority, anyone coming from danger zones that can be proven get priority....None of us has any way of knowing what circumstances someone has that gets them approved quickly from Texas. I am at 214 days and still waiting. I was wondering though, as someone for August put their SRC number in the RFE column, do the numbers go in order as received ?? If so, there are more than 30,000 between end July and mid August. That being said, I am sure that SRC number applies to all applications received, not just I-129. Keep in mind that Texas services a much larger demographic than California does and that Texas processes far more than just I-129 applications for that larger demographic. You can look if truly interested at the USCIS page and chose the processing times link. It will take you to another page where you can chose which service center to look at. I am very frustrated to have to wait as long as I have and still have no approval, RFE, nothing. But there is nothing that I can do about it, so I wait...

I completely understand that frustration. Been right at 6 months for us and nothing. At least I can see my case status online again. But no rfe no nothing. We were hoping to be done by summer but if noa2 doesn't come soon that will be out the window. It's hard to not get frustrated some days. ?

  13. But you are here at that point without documentation and permission. You are actually suppose to do it within 90 days. While they do allow you to do it after the 90 days as long as you married. You are in fact here without documentation and the proper paperwork you need to maintain your residency within this country. Which means in a sense yes you are here illegally. But not an "illegal" so lets be clear. There was no ill intention with my comment and no need to be upset or rude. It is just in fact correct that you are suppose to do it within 90 days since your permission to be here expires after 90 days unless you have already applied for AOS. I do understand that there are plenty of people who do it after 90 days due to circumstances and money. It is very expensive process.
