  1. Before this gets further off track, I want to clarify something---

If you get your shots BEFORE your visa medical, then you are done with all medical things forever. Nothing additional to do for AOS because your shots are recorded on an official government form.

If you get shots AFTER the exam, then your DS-3025 immunization sheet is NOT COMPLETE. The USCIS won't take a shot record from your GP. You will have to pay a USCIS designated Civil Surgeon to fill out Form I-693. Will that be a problem?? Well..the odds are YES, it will be a bother and expensive and frustrating to you. Many insist on doing an entire medical exam. Some insist on a TB skin test (even though you are cleared of TB by your chest x-ray). Some charge $100+. Some are hours away depending on where you live.

Read this from someone who did not get it done in advance http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/461012-medical-exam-for-aos-after-k1/

This is just one example of hundreds, from many countries, I have read and replied to.

Wouldn't it be easier to put a completed DS-3025 in your AOS packet and not have to go through these experiences?

Get shots BEFORE the medical, or

Pay for them AT the medical, or

Tell Knightsbridge to hold your medical report until you can get the shots and the proof faxed from your doctor's office.

It's penny wise and pound foolish to not get a complete report in London.

Thank you for that. That is really detailed and informative.

One more question (if you don't mind)

What shots are required? I'm picking my vaccination record up tomorrow from my doctors, so can cross reference this against any missing vaccinations.

  2. Hi all,

Looking for some help and advice please.

I posted it on the main forum, but didn't get any feedback, so hopefully someone can answer here.

We used a lawyer to go through the process, to make it easier...

We got approved la few weeks back, and the lawyers office just sent us back the complete scanned packet, however my mothers maiden name is spelled wrong on the g325-a form, spelled 'Boughhtrie' not 'Coughtrie'. We checked it at the time, I remember telling her it was wrong and she told me in an email she would change it...

Will this hold us up at the NVC/Interview stage when they look at my birth certificate in London?

Any advice is welcome as I'm starting to panic a small amount...

  3. I had my medical at Knightsbridge Doctors in Bentinct Mansions on Friday. Closest underground is Bond St and it's only about 10 minutes walk to Bentinct St. The staff were really nice. I had my inoculations up to date and had proof with me. If you do need an inoculation, get it with your own doctor before you go as it's pretty expensive otherwise. I was there for just over an hour. Nothing to worry about at all.

As I'm applying for a K1 visa, I don't need to have the inoculations there if I'm not up to date, is that correct? I can get the missing inoculations at my own GP after the medical and that won't hold anything up? I think I read it as that.

I believe that this is the case. Map B I think it is but yes that is where mine was and I haven't really read of anyone having it elsewhere apart from when the x-ray machine wasn't working but they still went to 4 Bentnick Mansions in the first place.

I have my interview appointment now for 10th April. They updated my case on 18th March, probably when they received the medical results. So didn't have to wait too long. I'm getting excited now. My fiancée is coming over on the 8th May for a holiday so I'm really hoping I can book my flight on the same plane and go back with her on the 21st May :)

Good luck with your medical and try to relax, it's pretty painless.

Thank you! That's a great help.

Wow, 10th April? That's a pretty short turnaround, I'm hoping I get something similar.

That would be excellent if you could go back with her :) I just dropped my fiancée off at the airport this morning after a week together, so we are praying for a smooth process

  4. I had my medical last week and I had no proof of vaccinations and the ones I could have had they marked as medical reasons and gave me a waiver. I assume then that it was because they weren't available. This was for MMR and for the DPT the rest were age specific. So I doubt you need to get them before you go. I didn't and wasn't an issue. I didn't even see the nurse.

Are all K1 visa medicals done at the surgery at 4 Bentnick Mansions? I'm sure that's what they told me on the phone on Friday but I just want to check before I book my train. I have mine 1 week tomorrow

  5. You list the truth, always. I doubt they will ask for your business papers. The G-325A is for biographical/background data collection.

I just found a problem with my g325a form, we received our NOA2, but now found out my mothers maiden name is misspelled by a single letter. Will this be an issue at NVC/Consulate? Can I bring with me a new g325a form to the interview and that will be ok? I hope it doesn't result in any delay/RFE...

  6. I agree with above post concerning bringing a new and updated G-325A. I had things that I had to update on my G-325A and other forms that I sent to consulate and I was fine.

I found this thread as I am in the same/similar boat. We received our NOA2 for our k1 visa last week, but just realized that my mothers maiden name is incorrect by a single letter (we had a lawyer draft everything up, but I should have checked closer, lesson learned)

Will this cause any issues at NVC or the embassy? Or should I bring an updated g325a form to my interview? My ds-160 form and birth certificate have the correct information.

    Thanks.

Any advice is welcome as I'm starting to panic a little that we could get an RFE.

I searched online, but couldn't find recent information so wanted some help.

    Thanks

  8. You can book your medical when you get a reference number it starts with LDN (london). The medical send the relevant documents to London, normally three days later, dependant on whether its a weekend or not. You can fill out your DS -160 form when you want to, I waited until after I passed the medical, then you fill in a readiness form to say you have it all together and are ready for an interview and then London will contact you with a date. Once London gives you a date you can then pay your MRV fees online.

Thanks for your help Shell, that helps me.

I just received our scanned I129F package back from our lawyer this morning, and my mothers maiden name is misspelled on the G325-a form (despite me pointing this out to them in December)

Will this affect things at the embassy in London? Or before then? Or can I submit a new form at interview stage? (sorry if I have gone off topic)

Hoping it doesn't lead to an RFE

  10. Quick question, when can you fill out and submit your ds-160 form?

After you hear from the embassy.

We just received our NOA2 last week, but nothing from NVC yet (it's only been 5/6 days). When am I able to fill out the ds-160 form?

After you hear from the embassy.

Do I need to wait for a letter from the NVC?

the NVC will forward your package to the embassy, then the embassy will schedule an appointment with you. they'll give you enough time to put everything together, so no need to rush.

Secondly, is that the number (applicant number on ds-160 form) I can use to book my medical?

you can only use your "case number" to do medicals

When can I book my medical?

after you hear from the embassy.

Thanks for your replies. I really appreciate it

So you get your case number from the embassy is that right?

  11. we were told that our case was shipped to the nvc 2 weeks ago, but we do not have a case no. I will not wait until the embassy mails me requesting the packet 3 material, I will go ahead and fill out the ds in about 2 weeks, as well as go for the medical, and hope for an earlier interviewdate.

this is simply a decision i made after reading up on the whole process and various experiences on here.

    best of luck to you!

So how did you book a medical without a case number? And also how did you fill out the ds form without a case number?

Thanks. And best of luck to you too.

  12. Hi all,

Secondly, is that the number (applicant number on ds-160 form) I can use to book my medical? Or is it something else? When can I book my medical? (Applying through London embassy)

Sorry if I missed something, I did do some searching but couldn't find anything.

    Thanks for your help.

  13. No, call and get the case number, just be careful scheduling the embassy interview too close to now. I would get everything else done, and once my case showed "In Transit" on CEAC, I would make the embassy appointment.

    Hi, I have two questions:

    - can you call the NVC and set your own interview date for London?

    - what's the CEAC?

I received my NOA2 on Tuesday. I am working in China for a few weeks, and logging on and seeing that certainly brightened up my day. A lot.

  14. Hi all,

Quick question, on the VJ website, it gives me an estimated timeline date range for my NOA2 to come through. That date passed over a week ago. It's an estimate at the end of the day, so of course I understand that.

My question is that as I'm sure everyone knows, it also says that if the date range has passed, i should inquire with the uscis about the petition. As my case is still within the 5 month average processing times, will calling the uscis be of any use? Or will they just tell me to get lost.

Any ideas or input as to the reasons it may not be adjudicated yet? Pot luck?

    Thanks

  15. petitions are not adjudicated quicker or slower based on the applicant's country. in the case of the philippines, there is a blanket expedite at the moment for applicants who live in the areas affected by the recent natural disaster. for all other cases, the foreign beneficiary's nationality will not affect the speed of approval at the uscis level.

What does affect the speed? I realize it probably is (or most definitely is) a lottery in some regards, but I do start to worry as to what could have gone wrong. I know it's probably stupid, but I'm sure we've all been there at some point.

We submitted everything our lawyer told us too (& more). I didn't find the VJ forum until after submission.

  16. I don't think it's accurate as well. I think it depends where your significant other lives.

I've heard that Philippines is much quicker than most places. Canada too.

By the way, I received by NOA1 within a week of filing the petition. Then I see now that they changed the Alien registration number. I heard that means they will approved it in a week or so.

Can you imagine from NOA1 to NOA2 it took 2 weeks.

I got my NOA1 a week after filing and my alien registration number changed 2 days after that. Now, a month on, I'm still waiting. I'm from the uk so not sure where that is in the 'quick applicant country' timeline
