I had my interview today at London and it was honestly painless.
I got approved
I'll post a review later but it honestly was fine
It was exactly how everyone described it, just like a conversation.
Thank you to all of you for your support and help
Especially to Nich-Nack (they only needed 1 g325a form) not the 4 I'd printed out

Subject of the email was US Visa Personal Courier-In Instructions
It was sent to fiancee, not me, as it was sent under the profile she registered when she paid.
I can't find that email. Every other email I received does not have that heading :/ I printed off the proof of payment emails, but no barcode, nor can I see where there could be a barcode.
-
Thank you.
And congratulations again
-
I looked through my emails now and don't have any bar code. I have the transaction numbers (both visa payment and home pick up) but no bar code.
I looked on both my ipad and laptop (incase my ipad was missing something)
Hmm

How was your experience? (Same question to phem0r
)
I have my interview on frisay

You can take anything that makes you comfortable. Anything is a pass.
I was just adding that so the next bloke doesn't post "OH NO HHELLLPPPP!!! My interview is soon and I don't have that." Then they spend $60 to get it overnighted to them. I think the months in the K1 forums whip you into a frenzy. Then you find out London is easy peasy when you finally get there.
No of course, you raised an excellent point regarding the NOA2.
They sure do! But also provide such a magnitude of information.
I hope your right on it being easy peasy (I'm the 1 going for the interview) and I think my worry is draining my fiancé down. I try to not worry, but I think I was born a worrier...
I'm just praying that it all goes well on Friday.
-
Nobody has EVER had to show their NOA2 at an interview in London. Just sayin' so the rest who read your post won't go into hysteria to get theirs.
I know! I'm going to use the excuse that my parents asked me to set up their new wireless printer so as a test I would print that off...does that pass?
-
Scyscanner is excellent. Expedia is also good. Aer Lingus's own website is also good (if they fly your route, otherwise forget ii mentioned it
)
-
Thanks folks!
I forgot about the NOA2. Printed it off just now (& the NOA1 for good measure)
Now I'd love to say I'll be able to relax for a few days before Friday, but I doubt that's possible. Haha
Think you have it all!
Can anyone confirm what needs to be photocopied?
Is it just
birth certificate
Police cert
NOA2
Anything else?
Because from what I guess everything else they keep?
If you forget to photocopy something, they can do it for you apparently. Costs you $1 per document, but it's not the end of the world

Afternoon everybody,
I have my interview date on Friday 9th May at London.
I have read the Guide for London and Document Checklist on the Embassy website (several times, daily) and I think I have everything, but I'm just looking for reassurances I guess...
So I have:
- interview letter
- ds 160 form confirmation page
- i134 form (with employer letter, tax returns, 3 payslips, bank statement)
- birth certificate
- police certificate
- US visa photos
- passport
- old passport (just in case)
- NOA 1 & 2
- 10 photos of us together (I know London don't ask for this but I like to be prepared)
- Save the Date Card (May not take it)
- MrV visa fee confirmation page
- G325a form (There was a mistake on the original)
- never been married so any of those forms are N/A
- rejection letter by USCIS for form I-129 (petition before a L1B visa, not I-129f for K1 visa)
Anything I'm missing? Do I have everything to take down to London with me?
Thanks for your help. It is greatly apprciated

Are they open on Monday with it being a bank holiday? You might have to wait til Tuesday, or call DoS/NVC on Monday
-
My interview is May 9th. I live in Scotland so am travelling to Euston on the 8th, then staying at the Copthorne Tara in Kensington. Looks like a 45 minute walk through Hyde Park to the embassy is my best bet on the morning of the 9th.
Phem0r, that sounds like a risk in my opinion. But then I'm a worrier

Wow, if i fly one way from Dublin to Johnstown, PA the cost is halved.. I'm trying to find a site where i can search one way via Dublin
I don't think skyscanner has this functionality
Sky scanner does allow you to search for one-way only flights.
Alternatively, look on Aer Lingus website itself, Skyscanner takes the prices direct from there. You can get one way tickets there.
Or Kayak, Expedia, etc.

Are you saying an interview may be issued ahead of the medical on the 6th?
/quote]
No unfortunately it's not issued until your medical results are returned. About 2 weeks after that a date may be set. For example, my medical was April 7th, interview letter (packet 4) was mailed to me April 16th, for an interview date of May 9th.
I had heard you may get an earlier date if you put an earlier travel date and/or wedding date. I put early June as a travel date.
You can also check the US embassy London's twitter page for updates on what date they are up to for filing 'readiness for interview applications'
-
You should be fine with the K-1. London is typically a very easy embassy.
I have my interview at London on May 9th...I'm going to hold you to that statement

For a London interview, she needs nothing from the US fiancé except the I-134 and two proofs of income (your choice). One would do it, but a second one is a backup.
NOT needed at a London interview--
I-129 packet
NOA2
Proof of relationship
Proof engagement
Photographs together
Birth certificate from USC
DIvorce decree of USC
She will need original or certified copies of her UK documents...her birth...her divorce...etc as well as a photocopy of them for the file.
Helpfule guide to London process here http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/474161-london-k1-a-complete-guide/
When you say two proofs of income, employer letter, tax returns, assortment of recent pay slips and a bank statement within the last 2 months are acceptable proof, is that correct?
-
I think you have to prove you met your girlfriend two years prior you send the K1 application, so, if you met in June/2013, you need to wait.
Also, are you subject to the 2 years home residence requirement, since you worked here on a J1 visa? Check is on your DS2019.
You have to have met in the last 2 years, so they are all good on that front.

I've booked mine for early July with Aer Lingus, it cost £481 one way (though I've paid for an extra bag etc so the total fare was much more...but eh...)
You know you could use those BA Avios on a one-way flight on Aer Lingus, right? It's 25,000 airmiles return Dublin-Boston, so 12500 one way plus fees and taxes (usually £70ish). You'd also have to book the Bristol-Dublin flight separately but that should be cheap enough. You could always try to get BA to include the little flight if you have enough Avios, though they've never done it for me.
Can't remember if you were the poster I spoke to about this previously, sorry if this is old info!
You can use avios point with Aer Lingus? This is news to me (very very good news as I flew frequently with BA to America/Asia with my work)
Aer Lingus I have found to be the cheapest by far. Cheapest I found was £350 from Glasgow to O'Hare. I had also heard that Tuesday flights are cheapest.
I always assumed one way flights were dearer because essentially there's an empty seat on the return flight (maybe not, I'm not an expert)
I have my interview on May 9th, and am hoping to also fly out early June.
(P.s. Interesting to note, if all goes well with my interview, we also have planned our wedding for August 8th)

Hi All,
Had my medical on the 17th April, and the Embassy logged my results on the 25th April.. Anyone have any ideas how long it may take to hear from the Embassy about an interview date? The reason I ask is my fiancé is over visiting from the 2nd May for a couple weeks, and i hoping (probably unrealistically) that the interview would be around the time she was here..
i sent in my readiness form on the 8th April..
Anyone recently had a medical who has already got an interview date?!
Thanks!
I had my medical April 7th, submitted my readiness form April 3rd (I think it was processed April 10th) and received my interview letter on April 16th. My interview date is May 9th.
If you look not the US London embassy twitter page, they tell you when they process readiness for interview applications. I think yesterday they were processing ones for April 23rd, so safe to assume yours has been processed.
Have you checked the CEAC website? My case for updated on April 17th (my letter got posted on April 16th, so I'm making the assumption in hindsight that this was the Department of State logging my interview date)
I hope that helps.
-
you say he got his shots from his GP, so normally there would only be the medical fee to pay, there is no saliva test unless it's changed from last year, the x ray is included, blood test is included.
No saliva test unless it's changed from two weeks ago
-
OK, did, thanks. So now I am waiting for the nvc? N that can take a month? I don't get it,
Yes
Yes, now your case gets forwarded to the NVC, and a new case number assigned. Then this gets forwarded to the embassy you have your interview in (sorry I don't know where that is as I can't see it on your profile) what happens next is generally country dependent.
It usually only stays with the NVC for a 1/2 weeks. I got my case number a week after it had been approved, and 2 weeks after that it was transferred to the embassy. I then organised my medical, got my additional paperwork in line, then I was scheduled an interview. (Every embassy is different in how they operate)
Congrats on getting approved so quickly.
I hope this helps. There is a guide which will also help

So I was looking over the medical exam packet for my fiance. And one of the things it said are required are: Passport, driving license or photo ID. Does that mean: Passport AND Driving License/Photo ID or ONE of the THREE?
One is enough. You do need a UK or US passport sized photo though too.
-
I had my medical on the 8th April, Knightsbridge said they'd have the results back on 11th and if that was fine they'd forward them onto the embassy..
Today the 18th i received my letter from the embassy with my interview date - 6th May
Dam that was quick..!
Your case is very similar to mine. Medical on 7th April! interview letter came yesterday! interview is May 9th!
Good luck

It does not matter where you are paid or in what currency.
The Tax situation is a little clearer.
What do you mean regarding the tax situation?
Approved - Thank You

Thanks everyone
I am planning on the middle of June. I need to work 1 months notice at my current job, which I'll give on Monday.
Our anniversary is June 16th so it'd be ideal to be there for that.
And I'll probably go through Dublin as I think that's the cheapest option!
When's your move date?
