I called USCIS concerning an upcoming N-400 interview. I was advised that it was in the Brooklyn, NY office. I asked for the address and was told Jacob Javits Center at 26 Federal Plaza.

That is in Manhattan, not Brooklyn.

Are all the NYC N-400 interviews at 26 Federal Plaza or is it possible that it could be at one of local offices?

I'm still waiting for the notice in the mail but it would be disastrous to go to the wrong location.

All local offices are located in Federal Plaza - Just different floors.

No reason specified. Just told that I will receive the decision later.
Happy that you're approved. I hope I hear from them soon. Did they provide you a reason why they didn't approve your case at the interview?
    Have they scheduled your ceremony?
Also that's interesting that you had an update on a Saturday.

No reason for me either. Same thing. They scheduled my ceremony for July 30.

Sorry, I made a mistake, the decision was on Friday the 2nd.

I had my interview for N400 in Brooklyn office. The officer said that she is not going to make a decision at the moment and I should receive the decision later. So I received a paper mentioning a decision can't be made...

I was wondering if anyone has had the same experience recently and what is the time frame that I should expect for my case to be approved and oath ceremony being scheduled?

Same Happened to me on June 30th. I received decision approved on July 3rd.

Did he give you any reason?

I think I will just fill my naturalization form in my maiden name and change my driver’s license before I apply in few weeks. So that way I can save myself the unnecessary time and wait. I know name changes often delay oath ceremony. Did you have to show your divorce decree since your passport and green card have different names?

Yes, you can do it that way and save probably some time.

During my travels, I always had my divorce decree but I was never asked for one when entering US.

The name change will still have to go through Judge, but there is nothin you need to do. At the interview I just had to sign the paper showing the name I want to have on my naturalization certificate, and the officer explained to me that it will be sent to the judge to notify him. I asked if it will be a problem since I already changed it through judge when I got my divorce, he said no, it will not be an issue. if I filled my N-400 with maiden name he wouldn't have to do that step, but because I thought I was supposed to fill in name that was on my green card I put in my married name.

My friend went through similar scenario, and she is citizen for 2 years now.

I’ve been using my married name since 2018. Will I get in trouble for doing this?

You will not. I got divorced in Feb 2020. I got name change from court but changing name everywhere was almost impossible before I applied for N-400. I used my married name almost everywhere, and I applied the N-400 under my married name, but requested it to be changed to my maiden name. I just recently changed my DL to my maiden name. On the interview I explained the situation, and he said that this is not an issue and I had to sign the paper to change my name to my maiden. He said I should receive my naturalization certificate in my new name.

I went through Dat stupid interrogation because I am divorced. They ask u like you did something wrong. The difference here is that the man eventually approved mine. Hope you hear something soon

Thank you. At the end he started assuring me that everything is fine and that he just needs to review my file as it is big. I just hope to hear something soon, this waiting is just killing me.

I had my interview on Tuesday. IO wasn't friendly but more laid back. I passed my test and answered all questions, I submitted all necessary documents. Then I received the N-652 form.

Did he tell you what the reason was? I asked him and he told me that its standard procedure and that I should hear back soon. He also said everything looks fine and that he needs more time to review.

That happened to me also. I received an e-mail the following morning around 7 that they had taken an action but when I logged in it was nothing lol. I think that was to put in the system that we did our interview lol.  There should be nothing to worry about yours, it's their standard procedure. I did my interview 2 weeks ago at Federal Plaza, I was approved on the spot. My case status still says oath ceremony will be scheduled. I feel you this whole waiting when it comes to immigration just kills us slowly lol.

Weird thing I just remembered is that when they were assigning the officer to me, the girls working behind the counter were like you think [officer's name] can do this one? Yeah lets give him a case. Could it be that he was one of new officers and couldn't make decision on his own? He asked me some weird questions that made me thing that he hasn't done many of these before, and on one occasion I had to guide him through application (he didn't know I had to provide names of all places I worked at so he asked me why did I name the companies I worked for and why I was unemployed when I received my Green Card in 2015).

    Hello,

was anyone recently interviewed for their N-400 at federal plaza NYC?. Please provide feedback and update if possible. Especially if you were given a N-652 form.

    Much appreciated.

I just had interview yesterday at federal Plaza and received Decision can not be made. I passed the civic test, and he said that everything looks fine but that he needs more time to review my case.

What was the reason why they couldn't approve you?

No, he actually said that everything looks good, and that he just needs more time to review my file. He said I should probably hear in couple of weeks, but I see here people waiting for months, so I am getting worried. I got an email this morning saying action is taken on your case, b ut when I log in there are no updates.

Do not sweat it, I had a similar thing happen to me during my AOS. I’m still waiting on my interview for the N400. But it was shortly after my AOS interview that I got a notification that I was approved. This happens quite often to other people. Do not worry, let the process play out! :)

Thank you. I received email this morning, action was taken on your case, but when I log in there is nothing. It's so nerve wrecking.

  13. So I had my interview yesterday. I passed the civic test and English test. Then he proceeded with Yes and No questions. After that he started asking me about my divorce (I applied under 5 year rule) which I found weird but still answered. He continued with questions about my ex, from how did we meet, how long we knew each other etc. Then he asked for my 2020 taxes which I gave him. He looked through them and started asking me how much refund I got??? Then proceeded with reviewing my application and asking about my current job. At the end he told me that everything looks fine, but he can't make decision yet because he wants to review my file (I came on K1, got through AOS and ROC), and gave me decision can not be made paper and told me to wait. Now I am so frustrated and sad and I don't know what's going on. Did anyone else go through this?

At a minimum bring everything listed on your interview letter.

I would also bring originals of everything you submitted on your application.  If you did any bank statements or similar dated items I would also bring a recent copy as well.

For travel the big flag is if you left for 6 or more months.  If so you have to prove you didn't abandon residence in the US (paystub, lease, etc.).  Otherwise bring what you have as proof such as airline tickets/boarding passes, credit card statements showing charges when you return, etc.

I never submitted any bank statements, only thing I can think of is updated taxes for 2020. I was never out of country for longer than 2 weeks, so hopefully boarding passes will suffice.

My best friend filed in August 2020 (Brooklyn NY) but her case receive date is September 15... On June 1st her status has changed to interview was scheduled and her interview is on June 30th @ 7:00 am (26 Federal Plaza)...

She has her green card for over 15 years. Maybe that’s why she is sooner than us

My Interview is also on June 30th, and I applied on Sept 19 2020. Not sure why some are faster than others. I am also applying under 5 year rule.
