Hello all. Hubby had his interview today and unfortunately, it did not go as planned. It was really busy for a Saturday and even though we were there at 9:30 am for a 9:45 am interview, there were many people there that had already had their interviews and were waiting for the oath ceremony. We noticed that when they called people to the window and they didn't have 2 passport photos, then they had to exit the building to take them and come back. At about 10:40 am they called the first set of people who passed the interview to go to their oath ceremony and then they separated those who were waiting to sign their oath certificates from those that still needed to be interviewed (such as my husband). He went in at 11:45 am and the officer took him to the offices one floor down. He proceeded to wait there until 12:10 pm for his interview. The interview lasted 30 minutes when he finally rejoined me. 
 
My husband came out and told me that he passed his written and speaking exam, as well as the civics exam. However, the officer insisted that he needed to submit further proof of a bonafide marriage and refused to see all the documents he had. She said she needed to see the marriage certificate in its original language and translated to English (my husband had the original with him and I had a copy as well). She also stated he needed life insurance and utility bills (he also had these) and when he said he had it and pulled it out, she simply said it would need to be mailed in. She assumed he didn't have his 2 passport pictures and when he put them on the desk in front of her she was shocked he had them. On the N-14 she gave him it states that he now needs 3 passport photos, not 2 (since when do you need 3? According to the paperwork for the N-400, he technically doesn't even need 2 pictures, but we still had them). Needless to say, I am a mess and highly disappointed. The officer was not nice at all and was quite rude. If you are going to the Newark office, do not be discouraged though! Many of the officers were sweet and had a sense of humor, even joking around with everyone in the waiting room and putting people at ease. We were just not fortunate. 
 
We have one month to send in documents that they already have and we do too. Then, we wait for a response...again. 
 
Has this happened to anyone before?

Interview date for hubby in Newark, NJ  is Saturday, March 3rd at 9:45am. Didn't even know that they did them on Saturday.

Hubby has a date for Newark, NJ. It is Saturday, March 3rd at 9:45 am. Looking forward to hearing about interviews before ours.  

Just checked our case status and it seems that an interview was scheduled for us yesterday!!! Woot woot! Now we wait for the letter to arrive with the date. They didn't send us any notification through text or email this time though, which is a little strange. 

Hi there! I am actually from the June thread, but there hasn't been much movement over there. Glad to see you getting an interview date for Newark, NJ. I was hoping hubby would get his date for February. But it looks like it may be March. I hope you come back and let us know how it goes and the questions that they ask, especially since our office is the Newark one as well. Congratulations on getting a date by the way! One step closer to the end... 

I also live in NJ and requested mine online. In maybe less than a week I had them. It came quicker than I anticipated.

Even though NVC has your Police Certificate and even if it isn't expired yet, I would have one with you any way for the interview. I took all my documents with me to the interview and they asked for everything all over again, even though I saw everything right in front of the CO. They even asked for another AOS (I hadn't signed it, so I signed it and dated it) and all the proof I sent in with it.

Aww... enjoy your hubby and a new phase in your life where you can actually be TOGETHER! Speaking of which, I have focused so much on this entire process that I don't really know what happens "after." I know my husband probably won't get his Social Security card automatically and that I will have to go to my local SS office for that. But then what happens after? His Green Card just come automatically or am I supposed to do something? Is there another thread that I join after we graduate from here? Loll

Between me and my husband, only one extra luggage is going (my American Express card pays for that...yay). And then everything else will go in the container, whenever they decide to send it. My husband has a lot of engineering books from his Masters program that he wants to take and they are too heavy for luggage. Plus we are shipping all his winter clothing.

We leave Monday by train to Lisbon and we are staying at the hotel within the airport. So it's Lisbon I usually like to fly into Porto and leave from Lisbon. That way I see family in both places.

Girllll... You are almost there!! And then it's a nice honeymoon in Europe where you can devour your husband and pinch yourself to make sure it's real. I've been packing up hubby's things and he's starting to get nervous. He's also driving me a bit insane. But it's easier to manage when we're together than apart lol.

I wish they would send it today and by some miracle I would get it tomorrow. But that won't happen lol. I'm happy enough with the Visa being issued. Last night I cried myself to sleep thinking I would have to leave my husband not knowing when he can finally come.
Need to start packing his things and getting an idea of prices for flights. Woot woot.

Checked CEAC for status and after 5 business days, it has changed to Administrative Processing. Let's see how long it stays here now.

I wish they would send it today and by some miracle I would get it tomorrow. But that won't happen lol. I'm happy enough with the Visa being issued. Last night I cried myself to sleep thinking I would have to leave my husband not knowing when he can finally come.
