  1. Uh-oh.

Most have caught the big waving red flags regarding him. This one is a big red flag about you.

We absolutely ARE supposed to think about our own life and whether marriage improves it. We don't guilt-trip and shame ourselves into marriage. This comment signals the strong possibility of having been manipulated abusively while growing up, and we tend to find warm familiarity in our adult relationships with such things - to our detriment.

Sometimes good advice is hard to hear. Some of the most complicated relationships you could imagine are debated on here, and the war between the heart and the mind is apparent in many of them.

I don't know what you should do, but you seem to have a very clear idea of what you must do, even if it does expose your heart to a repeat of past sorrows.

    Good luck and safe travels.

  2. You need to tie up this loose end by withdrawing the petition. Contact the Embassy and inform them the beneficiary will no longer be seeking a visa based on the petition you filed. Contact USCIS to officially withdraw the petition.

Thanks. I always see some really good advice on here. I've had good luck contacting the Romanian embassy by email and getting results, so I will do that.

I'm not sure how to proceed with contacting USCIS. I've searched the forums and haven't found a clear answer. Do I contact my original processing center (California)? I had the feeling that once they forwarded my approval (NOA2) to NVC they were done with me.

The guides for the process that leads to success are so good on here. Now that I'm in this boat, I understand why the path after things fall apart is not well documented. I feel little motivation to do anything, but dealing with it and tying up loose ends will probably help.

  3. Hi,

My ex-girlfriend decided not to go to the interview. She got cold feet about coming to Seattle and marrying me. She's moved from Romania to Spain and we seldom communicate, so our relationship seems finished.

The NOA2 expires on May 6. Do I need to do anything to inform the embassy or the NVC that the petition will expire without the beneficiary taking the next steps to get the visa?

  4. Hi again does anybody can help me I got my case number at nvc, I just needed to know how long it takes to arrive at the embassy, and if there is something else, that I need to send to NVC?? or just wait till the case arrive to the embassy???

    THANK YOU!!

You have your case number? Then go to https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/and click on the last "Check My Visa Status" link under Immigrant (even though K-1 is non-immigrant). Type in your case number and it will give you the status if NVC has sent it.

  5. Just wondering why most of the people here wer such in a hurry to get nvc no?

Because it is a closer step to getting the visa. Why wouldn't people be wanting their number quickly?

Because it's the next step, your vigilance is required because things can always go wrong and create delays, and the CEAC tracking requires the Case number.

When NVC tells you the date they sent it to the embassy you can also track it using the DHL tracking trick, details here http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/530927-how-to-track-your-packet-from-nvc-to-the-us-embassy/

  6. I just called for the first time after waiting as long as I could stand. Our NOA2 date was Jan 7 and NVC sent it to the embassy yesterday Jan 22.

It took about a dozen dials to get into the hold queue, then a 30 minute wait for someone to talk to. Be sure you don't press one when the automated message asks if it's been 35 days :)

  7. Hey Walter!
I am Romanian but not at home at this moment so I kinda need to get in touch with some friends there and help you with infos. But until then I'll say that I am 100% that translation services are widely available in Bucharest and hopefully not that costly as the online service you are using.

Thanks! I was in Bucharest in November and we did much of the paperwork and made copies that we needed while I was there, but didn't take the time to shop around for translation services. We did a little online searching and found there are quite a few.

REV is good and they are easy to use, but expensive.

Looking forward to any info you can pass on from your friends.

  8. You could use the appraisal done when he bought the property, if he had one done and this was recent. The most recent county tax valuation would also work, although this may be lower than the value from an appraisal. Hopefully you won't need an appraisal, but if you do you could shop around and make sure you get a reasonable cost, and maybe a multiple appraisal discount. At least you would be hiring the appraiser instead of someone else like a lender. Seems to me like an unnecessary expense given that the other two options are something you already have, but it does seem clear that they want something different from what you submitted.

    Good luck.

My husband is self employed and we recently received a request for initial evidence I-485 that they want "evidence of ownership, a recent licensed appraisal or county tax assessment, and any mortgage/lien or lien release of any real estate". My husband owns real estate and i already submitted a list of the value and dates of the properties that he has as well as the house deeds that show the purchase amount. They wrote on the request for evidence paper that 'in order to use real estate, the equity in the real estate must be established'. What does this mean? Any suggestions of what I should include? (My husband paid for the houses in full. He doesn't have a mortgage).
    Would appreciate input. Thanks

  9. Has anyone used a translation service in Bucharest that they would recommend? We used Rev.com to translate the divorce certificate for the I-129f, and they were good, but not cheap. We will need a translation of the birth certificate and police certificate for the consulate interview. We think it might be easier and about the same cost to use a translator in Bucharest. Plus it would be nice to shop local. Thanks for any advice.

  10. These appear to be K-1s at CSC. If you look at the individual timelines you can see that the data for where the petition is actually getting processed was not entered correctly  . Data entry errors like this are easy to make, especially for newbies.

Hopefully the estimates for when the next step will occur aren't thrown off too much, but I wonder in this case since CSC and TSC are so far apart in their processing times.

    Hi guys,

I have a question for you. I am going through this timeline ( http://www.visajourn...tion=1&sortby=2). At the beginning of the website is says "Last 15 Approved I-129F K1 Filers at the Texas Service Center" and if you look at the time they waited to get their 2NOA - it's about 5-6 months. But then if you go at the very bottom of the website (and let's take December, 2014), you can see that the same wait is MUCH shorter (not even a month) that for above mentioned couples. Could anyone explain why that is? And how it works?

    Thank you for your answers!

    Gabija

  11. It seems quiet lately - do you think the processing centers are working this week? Or shutting down until the New Year?

I keep checking every day but am not hopefully for news before the New Year...

I looked at the calendar and it says they are still working just have the 25th off and the 1st......

By executive order government workers are getting the 26th off too.
