  1. Why can't I edit my posts?? :|

I have all my employment for the last 10 years ready but I can't see where to input it. The question asks me "do you have other occupations" which is a truthful "no" - I am not working in any other occupations at the moment (this is, after all, the present employment section). Do I leave it at "no" and move on?

I'll give you the quick answer to your employment question. Since you're a woman who is currently working and not from a high fraud country you don't need any other information other than your current employment. If you weren't currently employed you'd probably have to give all 10 years worth.

Edit: I'm a girl from Canada who is employed and I didn't have to give them anything other than my current employment. Didn't ask for my schooling either. Do not stress over it.

  2. Don't be hard on yourself. You were just uninformed. CBP officers look at the entirety of your travel pattern when they decide on granting entry. Technically, you can stay up to 6 months every time you enter the US, but you have to have good reason for each occurrence, or they might decide you're just abusing your visitor status and deny you entry.

Since you opted to withdraw your entry application, you smartly avoided a ban. The incident was most probably recorded however. You absolutely did the right thing by declaring it in the DS-260. Otherwise, you would be grilled at the interview with prejudice.

Here is one thing you need to be informed about. If you have been spending a lot of time in the US for three years running, you might have triggered the substantial presence test and became a US tax resident without realizing it. If you did, then this is something you definitely need to be proactive about ASAP.

That will only get the Rlks the confirmation page. To get a printout of the entire submission, Rlks needs to go the IV Application on CEAC, hit next till the last page and print the filled form.

that's silly to keep pressing next though. They can print the ds260 on the confirmation page as well as their confirmation and have the option to email the confirmation on that page too. If you press print ds260 on that page it opens it up in one long file that will print all at once.

Also, I don't think I'm taxable. 2011 and 2013 had barely any visits. Thanks for your insight though!

  3. I have finished the DS260! It wasn't too terrible, though the part about "withdrawing application to enter" got me confused. I ended up saying yes because I pretty much did... I just don't remember if that's what I actually did! Oh well, I told the truth though and that's that.

The story: Back in 2012 I was a loaf and had been in the states about 170 out of the 180 day per year limit. Now, it wasn't that I was there for 5 consecutive months or anything, I just took multiple visits and thought that the 180 days reset every time I returned to Canada. NOPE, LOL. Anyways, I had ridiculously stated that I intended to be there for 4 months since I was allowed six months and the CBP were like "Girl yoou dumb" so the officer said I could visit for a week but once I returned I shouldn't visit for 6 months. I was like "Nah bro, I'll just start that 6 months now and get a job."

So I did that. I'm not sure I signed a form though, but I definitely did decide myself not to enter that day. I actually called CBP before I wanted to enter in March 2013 asking if it was okay since my "ban" would be up by then, and that officer said "You were never banned :/" That's my story. I was dumb. ^_^

  4. Progress report! I am back in Canada after a wonderful 10 days with my husband in the US, so I sat down, downloaded the IV application cover sheet, put all my documents together in a detailed email, and pressed SEND. Hope DS260 will open soon though! Is it right after the fee shows PAID, or will it take a bit?

Edit: I looked after I posted, it'll probably take a bit.

  5. Hey guys! Especially Hamo and Antre since you guys are in the same boat as me currently. My husband and I called NVC, Abby answered our call and questions and she sounded pretty darn confident so I feel better, so here's hoping it'll help you guys too!

    1. The fees will be there within 24-48 hours usually, Friday morning at the latest
    2. The new fee will not affect us if we can't pay until Friday anyways! We were billed for 230 so we will pay 230.

    3. This might only be important to me currently, but for EP applicants if you're worried about altering your documents by adding the case number digitally she said she doesn't think it's necessary since it's the subject line and file name, but it won't hurt your case. I was worried about it because it does say it wants original unaltered documents, so anyways, it doesn't actually matter.

So whoever said 7 days to hamo13 is a big meanie for getting us all riled up.

Holy cow, as soon as we finish our call and I post my long post, there's that darn fee. I feel like an #######. HAAAAAMO, HOW ABOUT YOOOU?

    Yeah I know seriously.

Yo yo yo, Hamo. The fee is there for me now, how about you?????

  6. LOL I got the email same time as you 2 am...and I wasn't as patient, I already called lol. She told allow up to a week before you can pay. Im hoping its available soon cuz its driving me crazy!

Well, that information just set me off. I was going to reply a big long rant but decided against it. A week is nuts though. You don't allow emails to be sent out saying "Pay your fee now!" and not have that ready. It better be today.

  7. OMG I WANNA PAY TOOO!!!!!

    still not there

Did you get an email at all yet? Apparently it doesn't help though! Heh. It's 8:30am now and I told myself to hold off on calling the NVC until 10 to at least give them some time to update the payment portal. I wish they didn't let that email go out last night though because it's less than useless. If you say I'm able to pay then let me pay /end rant. Sorry. :P
  8. Shall do.

I think we are going to stick with the plan. My husband was incredibly uncomfortable with doing something that is a) a brand new process for an existing file and b) to do with our original documents. He doesn't want to take any risks and I understand that.

Does anyone know if the DS-261 saying "completed" is good and means IV bill might be invoiced soon? Sigh..

The DS-261 says completed the moment after you press submit. It doesn't mean it's approved and it won't say approved. Mine was approved on the fourth after 34 days of waiting and it still shows complete. I haven't got the IV fee yet but I'm hopeful. Hope this made sense!
  9. Yes before we used to do that but NVC just changed the rules I read not long ago in this thread and now they are both being sent together and the prices are going up Sept 12 Th I believe. I think it's best to send them both together and I think they will be reviewing them together also not 100% sure. (F) (L) (F)

ugh. I seriously hope that price increase actually helps them solve some of this backlog, otherwise we are paying 95 dollars more for nothing! My five business days from when they said they reviewed my ds261 is on the 11th so I hope we get that day. It's cutting it really close!
  10. That's awesome to see they made some progress...I sent my DS 261 on August 2nd, but since it was a Sat, I'm counting as the 4th...anyways, hope next week will be mine ;)

Are you sending the IV package before the fee being invoiced or you wanna wait?? I have this horrible doubt!

I'm waiting. I don't really see the benefit of emailing my documents early. I hope for your sake you get that DS 261 complete too! It seems so silly that such a ridiculously small form is needed before we can advance.

  11. While our IV fee hasn't been officially invoiced yet, I called the NVC on Wednesday night (9/3) after being on hold for an hour and they said that my DS-261 had been approved earlier that day. She said we should expect to see the invoice on the CEAC portal within 5 business days (so 9/10 at the latest I guess)...

Will be sending off the IV packet ASAP once that happens.

We submitted our DS-261 on July 31. - so these invoicing timeframes for the IV fee seem to be all over the map.

I submitted mine the same day. I wonder if I should call and ask? If i do I might just get frustrated and bitter though, heh.
