  1. Hello Friends,

I am US Citizen. I want to file Green Card for my Parents. So, what is the process and how long will it take ?

Also, my parents are in India currently. So, filling for them while they are in India or once they come to USA on Visitor visa , which one is better and faster?

Lastly, I would like to know form numbers needs to fill out for the process and how much is the filling fees.

    Thank you in advance!!

Also, what kind of documents will be required? and what is the processing time?

she has already filled out the online form. do we require any other document to send along with form for submission ?

    Please, help! :)

  3. Dont worry, same thing happened to me with my AOS package.

What i did was i handed over that photo album to I/O during my interview .

So, you can do the same.

    Dont worry! :)

Good Day to day to all! My husband got a packet yesterday and when he checked it out they return all the pictures that we arrange in a mini album, we only sent like 15 pictures. On the letter said that the the officer can't folder them. What to do? Please help.

  4. Thanks!! :)

My interview was really smooth. It could have been finished in 10 mins but went for 20 minutes as i was showing my wedding album to I/O. I/O was really nice guy. Didnt ask that many questions... He just went through I-485 "NO" answer questions, Then he asked how we met and asked me to submit the document which i want to include in my file. It was that easy!!dancin5hr.gif

You will can show state id to enter in the building .

If you are scheduled to go to Buffalo office, i would advise you to relax and dont take tension if your marriage is true :Ddancin5hr.gif

    Best Luck! :D

Congrats ... how did your interview go..... what did they ask you ? what kind of id needed to enter the building ?

    mine is schedule on april 16 2014 . just a little scared....cry.gif

  5. Hello Friends,

So, finally i had my AOS interview today and It went smooth.

I/O was pretty frank and didnt ask much. He went thru the I-485 form and then asked me my name and birth place and asked my wife about her name and birth place.

We showed him a big wedding album and he was amazed by that. He also asked me if i want to add anything to file , so i gave him bona fied documents. Then he told me everything looks good but they have to review the file and i will come to know the decision( approval/ denial) in a week or a month. he made copies of my document and gave them back to me.

I am little worried as he gave me my EAD back and ask me to hold it till i get the decision.

But when i came home and checked status on line, I-485 application is in card in production stage.

"On March 11, 2014, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283"

And I-130 application is still in INITIAL REVIEW .

Any idea ? is GC approved? Please, help!! :D

  6. Thanks for the reply!! i had an interview today and I/O didnt ask for my birth cert at all!!dancin5hr.gif

If you have used a reputable courier from India (Blue Dart, DHL, etc) It should reach US in in 3 days if they paid for expedited. I have done this before and it cost a bomb (over 6k Rs for 1 sheet of paper) but it arrived at 10am on the 3rd day so it was worth it!

Don't worry! worst case you go in for interview without it and they want to see it and you will have to go back once it arrives in the mail!

  7. Thanks for the reply!

My parents already mailed it and i am suppose to get it before my interview.

Lets see ! I hope everthing will be OK!

    Wish me luck!! :D

At our interview, the IO asked to see both of our birth certificates (the US citizen and the foreign spouse) in original, in fact she even inspected the purple seal on the foreign birth certificate to make SURE it was an original. I'm not sure what would have happened if we had not had the original -- I do strongly suggest you try to get it, at least to have if they ask you to bring it as a followup document.

  8. Hello,

    Thanks for replying.

I (beneficiary) have a scanned colored copy of my birth certificate and have passport. I dont have my original birth certi with me.

is beneficiary missing the birth certificate? if you read your interview notice, it does specify to bring original birth certificate of beneficiary. some IO do ask for it and some dont. Ours didnt speficially look at it. I suggest, you try and get it via expedited courier. if you get it in time, its fine or you take gamble.

In my experience, you can get courier from india in 3-4 days. try www.ezworldwide.com. they hv done it for me few times.

    Good Luck!

Yes, i have to!! Dont know how i did i miss this 1.

Thank you for wishing me luck and for your advise!

Good luck to you too!! :D

I would go ahead and request for the original to be mailed (expedited). I've read some interview experiences where the IO asked for this information and some where the IO didn't. If the IO does I think the worst that will happen is you will get an RFE to perhaps make an infopass and show it there. Or you might be required to mail it in. Better to ask for more than one official copy so you will have one if you need it in the future.

Good Luck! We're having our interview next week also.

  9. Hello Friends,

I am having I-485 (marriage based green card ) interview next week.

My question is , I don't have my original birth certificate with me , I have it in email. The original is in India with my parents and cant get in mail in 4-5 days.

Do i have to have original birth certificate of mine at the time of interview ? or email printout will be ok?

I have my passport with me which also verifies birthday and other things.

    Please, help! Its urgent!
