  1. I spoke to a tier 2 Representative today. They said that my case is in the Lee's Summit, Missouri office and they are severely back logged and it might take about an year for them to get to my file. I cant believe this !!!!!ranting33va.gif

Am I missing something here? every body else seems to be done with 3-4 months...

    Hello,

It happened to me as well :(

i got biometrics appointment after 2 months of filing my case.

What i did was, called them and have them open a service request.

I had to do it twice thought.

So, keep on calling them untill you get the appointment .

In my case my EAD was approved before they issued my biometrics appointment but they didnt issue my EAD card as they were waiting for my biometrics.

Once i gave my biometrics, in hour or two i saw Approved status for my EAD. So, hopefully all is well with your case as well.

    Good luck :)

  2. I-485 approval depends on your local office and their nearest availability for an interview. You can look on uscis processing times under your local office to get an idea. If you pass the interview right away, then you can approved on the spot. If not, then there will be indeterminate waiting after the interview.

Thanks Harpa!! I will check I-485 processing time on USCIS.gov

  3. Your calling probably triggered them to update something, it could be your address wasn't quite right or something. I wouldn't worry that much especially if you have your biometrics appointment letter, just check online - https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/Dashboard.do to see if anything looks out of place.

    Thanks for Reply Aussie_Jason!

I see that message on USCIS website only. I googled on that "your address was changed relating to the I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS that you filed" and from those old posts I found out that it means now they are looking at my case and in a day or two i should get CPO . ( I dont know what CPO means) but sounds positive :)

Let me know if you know the full form.

    Thanks!

  4. You do not change status when you get the EAD. You change status when you get the green card.

The EAD simply allows you to work in the US. It does not change your status.

By filing the I-485, you are in a temporary protected status allowing you to stay in the US. Getting the EAD does not change that.

So, you are suggesting me not to change status from H1 to EAD with my employer?

  5. Hello All,

I have filed family based AOS package on Nov 1st 2013 and I didnt receive my fingure prints for next two months eventhough i called USCIS 2 times and have them submitted service requests for my Biometrics.

I got biometrics appointment letter for i-765 . So, i called USCIS again and asked if i can gove biometrics for i - 485 on the same day. then, I received an email today saying consider same appointment for i-485 as well but when i checked Case status on USCIS it shows:

On January 16, 2014, your address was changed relating to the I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS that you filed. Please check our website at www.uscis.gov for further updates on your case. Please wait until the end of normal processing time before calling customer service at 1-800-375-5283 for live assistance.

I have not changed my address. I dont know what is about. Please help people so i can understand what exactly it is about.

    Thanks!

  6. Hello People,

I have filled GC on family basis. So, i have submitted AOS package in Nov 1st , 2013. My case is moving slow but the good thing is i have finally received my biometrics appointment for next week on I-765

I called USCIS as i was also waiting on biometrics for I-485, they told me its the same appointment.

Also, the USCIS officer ( level 2) told me that they have approved my I-765 till dec 2014 and they will release my card after my biometrics is done.

so, is that same EAD for employment?

I am on H1 right now, so, once i receive EAD card can i change my status?

    Please, advise!!

    Thank you!

( i have posted this question ot other section as well)

  8. By glaring issues I meant by leaving out key documentation or not qualifying for obvious reasons but that doesn't seem to be the case otherwise they would have let you know, it would seem like you are having mail issues especially if your online status is updated. I would suggest triple checking your address and ensuring you aren't using a redirect with USPS to forward from an old address as that won't work with USCIS correspondence, it could also be something like your mail getting delivered to your neighbor by mistake. Sorry that isn't much help.

    Thanks for your prompt reply.

But i received all (4) my receipts with case numbers at my same address and same mail box. So, it does not seem issue to me.

But it does not hurt to check with neighbours and i will also verify with USCIS.

    Thanks for the suggestions!! :)

  9. Have you moved or had issues with your mail? You should get your biometrics appointment letter within the first two weeks if there were no glaring issues with your AOS package. Have you checked online to see what the current status is for the various forms? I assume you at least have the NOA-1's for them so you have the receipt numbers?

    Hello,

I have not moved or dont have any issue with mail box.

Here is my time line :

Submitted my AOS package on Nov 1st 2013 to Chicago lock box address.

Received mails back with receipt number on 7th of Nov.

Waited for 1 month as i had not received any biometrics appointment letter.

So, i called USCIS on 9th Dec and have them created a service request and then waited for 15 days.. didnt get anything.

So,i called USCIS again on 23rd Dec 2013 and have them created a 2nd service request for biometrics

USCIS has submitted both service requests for biometrics to Buffalo office.

Finally online status updated for i-765 asying we have sent you appointment letter for biometrics on Jan8th 2014 but have not received it.

So,i am not sure if something is wrong in my application or it the workload that keeping me to wait longer than expected.

and what do yo umean by glaring issues? how can i verify?

    Thanks for reply!!
