  1. HI Ladee,

From the Visa Application Standpoint for the Bridgetown Embassy,

    - Visa Application Fee (paid at the Embassy) - $265

    - Med. Appointment is - $210 (base)

I recommend that your finace go to their regular doctor at home and get all the required vaccinations and keep the records to present at the the appointment.

    - DHL Delivery Fee to send the passport depending on place.

I would also recommend renting a car because there is alot of driving around. Taxi fees are really expensive in Barbados

    - med. appointment (you have to go from the appointment and pick up the next day)

    - xray appointment

    - embassy appointment

    - delivery of passport to DHL office (close to the airport)

    Good Afternoon everyone,

My name is Ladee and I am a February 2015 K-1 visa applicant. I have been searching the visa journey forums for any idea of how much the entire process may cost from start to finish.

Of course, the visa application cost $340.00

The sending of the application cost about $30.00

I have saved a few grand to cover the cost of the flight, hotel vaccinations and biometrics but I know that there may be a few unforeseen expenses...

Does anyone have an idea around how much I should have saved?

    Thanks in advance!

    Ladee

  2. That's a tricky situation. I know the LIAT asks for a round ticket to PR to reset costs of persons being sent back.

What about the Embassy website? Is there information on K-1 visa not needing a one-way ticket to enter?

I know I researched it but I had to resort to the forum. I think once it is clarified with a LIAT supervisor and you get it in writing you should be fine.

  3. As I said before,

I have read the webiste and it states Foreign Passport with Visa and I-94. However, they give specific instruction for other visa categories and not K-1.

However, i will take your advice and call when I jump that hurdle.

At least 2 DL related posts made today alone. One in the most popular for the day. Each state is different. Most states want some proof of local residency, bills/statements and identification of which SSN related proof is enough.

The local DMV will clearly have itemized lists of acceptable forms / requirements of identification.

I would suggest calling them or visiting them specifically regarding K1 if you have a concern

You only have to accumulate enough POINTs. FOUR points. SS card, a bank statement, a credit card (from diff bank), a utility bill, foreign passport with 'visa' and i94. the I94 should be when you processed through POE. Combination of these should be 4 points easily.

  4. Dear Forum,

My apologies if this topic has been addressed before.

I noted that I would have to go through the entire process of getting a NYC Driver's Card even tho I have a license from my country of origin.

I just wanted to confirm that I could start the process of getting a learner's permit during the period that my Adjustment of Status is being process.

I noted from the website that I could use my Social Security card plus my foreign passport with visa and I-94. However, they did not make a stipulation about the K-1 visa.

I was hoping someone on the forum has gone through the process during their Adjustment of Status period before they received their green card.

    Thanks much.

  5. That's great! Congrats!!!

I finally got my interview date and I am going to the doctor's appointment.

I am dreading finding out how many vaccinations I may need.

Did you all have to get any vaccinations?

Good afternoon everyone! The interview yesterday went GREAT, AND WE GOT APPROVED!!!?

We're here in silver sands chilling together and enjoying life.

I just want to thank you both for helping us make this happen, and congrats on your marriage, JDWright.

  6. Thanks.

Since you are the Global Moderator, we have been trying to update the information on the Bridgetown, Barbados Embassy page. We keep getting an error message. Maybe you can help fix that issue.

    Thanks.

  7. Thank you so much for the information. i would have blindly made a ton of mistakes.

Unfortunately the tourist visa procedures are not applicable, I thought that myself but was wrong.

The clinic is walk in only, you need an appointment letter from the embassy, that comes in packet 4, NOT the DS160 receipt.

Fees for this visa are only payable on the day of the interview, if this is different for persons living outside of barbados I'm not sure. But when I asked that is what I was told. I tried to update the BGN page, but I couldn't a lot of that information is out of date.

I've attached the general packet 4 information that you will get via email if requested and by mail when you receive your packet 4. It is very very generalised and a lot of it is NOT k1 specific, so read it carefully and feel free to ask me if anything needs clarification. The medical information is listed in this packet with more detail.

  8. I did note some of these issues with the information.

I think you just need the DS-160 number to schedule the appointment and pay the fees online or through ScotiaBank set up. (I did this for my tourist visa about a year ago)

I also noted that you need the appointment confirmation sheet to actually go to the medicial. So maybe this is how you get it. (I also didn't see a list of doctors.)

Then you bring all the required information to the appointment?

It would be great if we could fill in update information on the forum. I know there are not alot of K-1 visas at BGN but information is still useful.

Let me know if there is anything you need assistance with.

I am in Barbados right now and I know a little of the Embassy procedures from getting a tourist visa.

  9. Thank you for this information.

    This is really helpful!

You're in Antigua so you're under the jurisdiction of Bridgetown. They will send packet 3 by mail to the address you had on file from the USCIS stage, if you email them they will send you a general packet 3 with all that you need to submit, if you don't hear from them I can forward you both general packets 3 and 4. Case specific details will be on the cover page and you'll get that from them.
Here is an excerpt from the general packet 3 information that you'll need.

"· FIRST: :- Complete Form DS-160: Your fiancé(e) and his or her children must each complete Form DS-160 to apply for a K1/K2 visa. Go to ceac.state.gov to complete the DS-160. You must: 1) complete the online visa application and 2) print the application form confirmation page to bring to your interview.

    ·

    SECOND Required Documentation

Applicants should take to the visa interview clear, legible photocopies of civil documents and translations, such as birth and divorce certificates. Original documents and translations will be returned.

  10. A petition being transfered and A petition being sent directly to a Service Center are two different procedures.

We need to be correct when posting this information as well.

There is a January filer who just posted that her file was transferred to Vermont per a letter she received a few days ago, oddly enough.

  11. Thank you for the information.

I am just wondering in regards to the initial contact (getting Package 3 for the K1 Visa process)

    - if we have to contact the Embassy when we confirm that the information was sent from NVC or

    - if the Embassy get in contact with you via email, phone, or snail mail.

I just wanted to confirm because I work on a Project in Barbados so it would save time if I could coordinate receving in the Package in Barbados rather than Antigua.

  12. Hey anyone know how to reach a real person at the Bridgetown embassy, no reply from email and their numbers just direct me to use the email service -_-.

Also anyone know the consulate specific contents of their packet 3? The portal on VJ seems to be a bit dated.

    Thanks.

    HI JD,

Could you give us an update on the process after NVC sends your petition to Bridgetown Embassy?

I know you had issues with contacting the embassy. How did you eventually make contact? What steps and documents were needed for the initial instance?

    Thank you in advance.
