My visa is approved as per CO. Questions asked by IO & CO are as follows:
Indian Male Officer questions
Who is calling you?
Which is your birth place?
What is the address of the petitioner?
Have you visited any other country before?
Asked for medicals, Passport and DS260 confirmation
Handed over the originals to me
Waited for around 2 hours for my number to come though my token number was 3rd. There were many applicants whose language was not English. So the CO's were finishing their interviews first. After a long wait was called for the interview. There were two female officers. One was sitting and the other officer standing took my interview.
Consular Officer questions
Tell me something about your husband, marriage and your time together
Where did the wedding take place?
Was it arranged or love?
How many people came for the wedding?
Asked to show the marriage pictures
Where did you purchase the gown from?
Who is this female in the wedding photo?
How much time have you'll spend together?
How did your husband enter USA?
Where does he work and as what?
Where is his current residence?
With whom does he stay?
Where has he moved from? (My husband moved to another state due to change in his job last year)
Did you read the instructions about domestic violence?
What is given in the instructions? Kindly explain
Your visa is approved and you should pay $165 fee before you travel to the U.S -

i called the ustraveldocs helpline. its an error on their part. they asked me to take the print out again since the error has now been resolved. what a relief!
-
Where does the consulate appointment show up? In the ustraveldocs website? What is this agent?
To schedule fingerprint at OFC, one has to just create a profile and and schedule it. As simple as that.
I have hired a travel agent who assists in immigrant visas. He created my profile in the ustraveldocs page.
He gave me the printout yesterday of the appointment confirmation page. In that, one section is OFC appointment details and second is Consular Appointment Details.
Both are showing the address of Mumbai OFC and date as March 3, 2014 at 10 am.
I feel the consular appointment details should be March 6, 2014 at 7.30 am...i.e. the interview date
-
My interview is on March 6th 2014 at 7.30 am. My agent scheduled biometrics on March 3rd 2014 at 10 am. The appointment confirmation page shows OFC appointment date as March 3rd 2014 at 10 am. Also it shows Consular Appointment date as March 3rd 2014 at 10 am. Is there a mistake?
According to me, Consular Appointment date should be March 6th 2014 at 7.30 am.
can someone please clarify on this? its urgent. My agent scheduled OFC at mumbai. I feel the consular appointment date should be March 6th...is there any mistake??

Thanks!
Thank you guys!
I got the visa and passport today; 28th Feb journey date!
If you have already submitted original PCC to NVC, then you dont need another one at the time of interview since they would have mailed it to Embassy already along with your other original submitted civil documents.
Just keep a photocopy of it incase they ask for verification.
-
Congrats and thanks for sharing your experience. Did they ask you original of PCC? I got only one original from passport office which I have already submitted to NVC. So I only have copies of PCC
Class : F2A - Children of LPR below 21 (minor)
I had my biometrics appointment at VAC on 16th of Feb, 2014; 4:30pm. The centre is about 1km from the actual US Embassy in Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai.
I reached there by 4 and saw a long queue outside. Guards there sorted people by the appointment timings. Around 4:15 I was allowed inside the gates in a line. They were checking our passports, DS260 confirmation page and VAC appointment confirmation. After entering, security checking is done. Rules are same as those in embassy regarding items allowed. Make sure you don't carry mobile phone, pen drives, cd, etc inside.
They will then stick two bar codes behind your passport and give you token number. Then people have to wait in sitting area till their number is displayed along with window number where your fingerprints and picture will be taken. They will also stamp on your Ds260 confirmation page( which will be required again on interview day). The whole thing just took about 20-25 mins for me.
I had my interview on 18th feb, 7:30am. People were already gathered around when we reached there around 7am. Soon the staff made two lines depending on interview timings. They asked us to keep our interview letter (p4) ready so they can check before letting us in. We were allowed in right on time, followed by routine security checking.
After checking we entered a long waiting hall. We were first given token numbers before we sat down. Screen displayed token numbers and the window number we have to report to. First call, I had to submit PCC and sealed medical report. They gave me back my originals which I had sent to NVC months back. I was told to sit again until further announcement. Second call, I had to give fingerprints again and sat down.
The third time was when I saw a American lady sitting across the window.
I read out the oath and the interview began. She didn't really ask much questions. Just my age name and whether am married or not. Then she asked for family photographs which I had plenty. She smiled and said I look cute in baby pics, lol; and right away she said your visa has been granted. She handed me the green card fee details and my alien number.
Waiting currently for my passport and sealed brown packet; which generally arrives within 7 days.
I hope my experience makes your visa process and embassy visit a bit simple and easy. Do let me know if you have any query regarding anything. I will try my best to respond.
Thanks VJ community for helping me from start till end. You guys rock! -
How about that. she got the SMS to pick up the PCC tomorrow.
congrats..she got lucky..:-)

From my personal experience, even though I sent original PCC (from passport office) to NVC; during the interview the indian officer again asked me to provide original and a copy, even before checking my file. She later found the one I sent to NVC in my file while browsing it and returned one and asked me if I had taken two originals. I said yes. Just to be on the safer side please have one accordingly. I read about some people's experience where the officers get angry when we say we already sent the originals to NVC. Wish you good luck.
thanks for the information. but thats really strange. when they have a original one they shouldn't be asking for a second original. I had asked the passport office while collecting PCC whether they are giving me 2. They said they are giving me only 1 original in october 2013. Will the passport office issue me another one again since its not expired? (according to passport office website PCC expires in six months i.e. in april 2014)
where was your interview...at mumbai consulate?
-
She applied from one of the PSK in Hyderabad. Yes all that online stuff and appointment. She is done with that. The police verification was done 10 days back. When she applied, she was told to come when she gets an email/sms.
Do you suggest that she walk in there and try to see if its lying there ? With Indian paperwork system, things are very complicated and not straightforward.
i would suggest you to check with the police station first, if her papers have moved from there.
I got my PCC in two months time since it was lying at the police station even after verification.
-
That has to be the passport clearance certificate. Did you take a copy of that passport page and send it to NVC? I doubt that. They might give you a stamp in the passport (Chennai passport office did not) but I don't think it has anything to do with Police Clearance certificate (which is the letter and that is what you should have sent to NVC and taken to the interview).
I got only one original PCC from mumbai passport office with a stamp on the passport saying PCC valid from 01.10.2013 (Have sent that to NVC). I have taken xerox copies of the PCC certificate. But don't have any originals with me.

CEAC status changed to ISSUED. Finally!
congrats!!!!

congrats Shiraj! and thanks for sharing your interview experience in depth..it will be a great help to others who are still awaiting their interview
Thanks vkrishn and Papaya07. Here you go. Please read my interview @Mumbai, US Consulate experience below:
Had my interview scheduled at 7:30 AM Feb 12, 2014. I booked accommodation at Trident hotel, BKC next to the US consulate, which is hardly a minute's walk from the hotel. There are only 2 good 5* hotels near the Consulate (Trident and Sofitel), they are a bit expensive but best if you want to avoid the stress of travelling early in the morning for interview. You can walk to the US consulate from both these hotels very conveniently.
I reached the consulate at 6:50 AM for 7:30 AM appointment, there were two lines, one for immigration and other for non-immigration. Once you stand in the respective line, VFS staff will check your I/V appointment letter and ask if you completed medicals and bio metrics. At around 7:10 AM, the immigration line members were asked to enter the consulate, where an other VFS member will again check you I/V letter, once inside you will go through security check and then will be directed to a hall inside the consulate where you will be asked to form two lines, the VFS staff will direct you to which line you need to stand in, you will have two counters opened with Indian officers and you will proceed to the counter where you will be asked for the language in which you need the interview conducted and will be given a token number attached to your I/V letter. You will then be made to sit at one side of the hall while the other half is kept empty. The interview counters where you will be seated will start calling/display your token numbers where an Indian officer will bring up your physical file that you submitted to NVC and review and ask for updated documents. During my interview with the Indian office, she was very friendly and asked me to submit PCC and Medical, though I already sent PCC to NVC and was still valid, I had two original copies ordered so gave her the other I had. She then started looking at my file and found the original I submitted to NVC, so gave me back one original copy. While she was checking my file, I was proactive to ask if she needs latest W2 from my co-sponsor, DS-260 (which I think she forgot to ask), passport delivery address registration confirmation on usatraveldocs, and she was happy to take these and put them in the file. She then interviewed me:
Indian officer: who is calling you?
me: my spouse
Indian officer: what is her name?
me: mentioned her name
Indian officer: When were you married?
me: date
Indian officer: Who is my co-sponsor?
me: Stated she was my Spouse's sister
Indian officer: Have you been to the US before?
me: yes,
Indian officer: How long you were in US and which visa?
me: specified her the duration and type.
Indian officer: What is you spouse name? (She asked again)
me: again mentioned her name
I had given her my new passport which I recently renewed, so it did not have the visa stamp, so I asked her if she need the old passport and she said yes and had the two passports binded together.
Indian officer: What all countries I had been to?
me: mentioned that, I had been to UK, and mentioned I had been to Mauritius for our honeymoon.
Indian officer: How many years I was in UK and what I was doing there?
me: answered her
Indian officer: Where is my spouse now?
me: she is staying with me in India temporarily as I don't have a visa and we intent to move together. (This was my main concern as my spouse lives with me in India after her marriage though she has been maintaining her status)
Indian officer: Do you have the petition form copy of my co-sponsor sponsoring her husband?
me: I said No, I don't. (My co-sponsor who is a USC, sponsored her husband GC recently and he got his green card now.)
Indian officer: How many people are listed as house hold members?
me, 4 (my co-sponsor listed 4 including me, so may be she wanted to double check that and the income which way way above the required.)
Indian officer: what is your mother's name?
me: answered
Indian officer: What is your father's name?
me: answered
Indian officer: what is mother's maiden name?
me: she noted the name in the system.
She in between returned a bunch of documents I had sent to NVC and kept only that was required. The Indian officer then handed me a letter on domestic violence and asked me to read and explained it briefly. She asked me to wait for the token number to be called again for interview with American VO. I said thank you. This lasted for about 15 minutes. And it was about 08:00 by this time
I waited for the next interview with VO and I was called again at around 09:50 AM. What I observed is people with infants (which is good) and families are given preference over singles during the process, so I was one of the last people to be interviewed.
me: good morning
VO: good morning, please raise your right hand and read the oath that is placed at the window.
me: read
VO: please give you right hand finger prints that you confirm to the oath
me: did
VO: she was going through my file and was actually looking for something, she then asked me where are the IRS tax returns for my spouse.
me: I said she did not file as her income was low and was not mandatory to file
VO: she gave an expression and was still skimming through the file
me: I said I have her Indian tax returns if she need to verify the income
VO: she said no, in a good way,
VO: she then found the letter my Spouse wrote explaining why she did not file taxes and why she was staying with me in India and steps taken to maintain domicile and return to US in good faith to re-establish domicile once I can get a visa. She read the whole letter and said "tell thanks to your wife for writing this letter". (we had included copies of her US GC, SSN, driving licence, state ID card, bank statements, letter from co-sponsor stating she will provide accommodation when we move to US, my spouse's resignation letter from her employer in India where she worked till last year to gain experience)
VO: what is the name of the company your wife worked in India?
me: stated the name and said she was working for gaining some experience and resigned from the job with intention to move to US
VO: she searched for the resignation letter and other letters my spouse wrote to her TL, Manger to find a suitable job in USA for her as she will be moving to US.
THEN the VO said, lets start the Interview:
VO: when did you get married?
me: stated the date
VO: was it arranged or love?
me: answered arranged
VO: who arranged?
me: answered
VO: How did our families know each other before marriage?
me: answered
VO: where were we married?
me: answered
VO: how did my wife get a GC?
me: answered
VO: where is my spouse now?
me: she is living with me in India
VO: from the time you got married?
Me: yes, she is maintaining her status but living with me as I don't have a visa and we intent to move together.
VO: have you been to US before? when and how many days?
Me: answered
VO: are you still working in India?
me: I said yes
VO: you are working for XXX company?
me: yes, I said I asked for a transfer to USA once I can get a visa from my existing employer and I am not yet sure if that will work
VO: How long did you live in UK and what was I doing?
me: answered
VO: when did you return to India?
me: answered
VO: where does my co-sponsor work
me: answered
VO: If my inlaws were staying in US on GC?
me: I said no they stay in India and father-in-law surrendered his GC but mother-in-law still has it.
VO: she gave an expression!
She then checked for the IRS tax transcripts my co-sponsor sent and asked me if I have the wedding pictures, She saw all the pictures once by one and asked if I was given the domestic violence instructions. She then said my visa is approved (magic words) and handed me over the USCIS immigration fee document which also has my A number and explained when to pay that fee. She said I will get my passport in a weeks time with the stamp.
The VO officer was very nice and was noting all the answers in the system.
Overall the experience has been a good one. Thanks everyone and just be proactive if you think that some thing that you have might help them in making a decision and offer the evidence when the right time comes during the interview.
I wish everyone waiting in line all the best and good luck. God bless.
PS: Please ask your family or friends to not take photos outside the Consulate when you stand in line and who may have come with you, this will cause you trouble for sure as it happened to one of the guys behind me, he was pulled out of the line and taken for checking and questioning.

i used DTDC..it was good and pretty fast
-
Thats correct if you are creating a profile on ustraveldocs for the first time. Once you log in you should be able to schedule biometrics.
thanks vkrishn! Anybody got a call from mumbai consulate? I got a call but there was a network problem. He called my mom (her alternate no. was given), she could hear some part of it, since she was travelling. He told to schedule for biometrics and photo..she couldnt hear the rest. If anybody else got calls from the consulate, please let me know the details.

Thanks all for the wishes. I hope your interview goes well too and i am sure it will. :-)
I do have a suggestion though. If you can be there with your wife/husband at least for some moral support during the interview time i guess it makes a huge difference both for him/her and even for the CO when he hears that husband or wife flew down for the interview. Once again, Good Luck to all.
hi vkrishn...for scheduling biometrics....do I click a new user registration...kindly confirm if the below link is correct:

VISA approved. But they did ask quite a few questions. Still checking with wifey on all the questions CO asked her. Will do a detailed wrtie up about the experience shortly. :-)
