The last processing action taken on your case
Receipt Number: IOEXXXXXXXXXX
Application Type: OS155A , IMMIGRANT VISA AND ALIEN REGISTRATION
Your Case Status: Initial Review
Your OS155A, IMMIGRANT VISA AND ALIEN REGISTRATION was accepted and is being processed at our intake processing center. On April 30, 2014, we mailed you a notice explaining this and describing how we will process your case. Please follow any instructions on this notice. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or contact our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.
During this step, USCIS initiates the background checks of the applicant/petitioner and identifies issues that may need to be addressed either during an interview or by asking the applicant/petitioner to submit additional information or documentation. USCIS reviews the applicant's/petitioner's criminal history, determines if there are national security concerns that need to be addressed, and reviews the application/petition for fraud indicators.
If you have filed an I-485, I-589, I-751, N-400, I-90, I-821, I-131 or I-765, you can expect to receive an appointment notice to appear at an Application Support Center to have your fingerprints and/or photographs taken. The timing of your appointment is determined by the number of applicants ahead of you that also need a biometric appointment. We try to schedule biometric appointments as quickly as possible and in most cases you will receive your appointment notice within 30 days of submitting your application. We will send your appointment notice approximately 14 days ahead of your scheduled appointment. It is important that you keep this appointment. If absolutely necessary, you can request that your appointment be rescheduled however, please be aware that rescheduling may delay the processing of your application. Please follow the instructions on your appointment notice if you need to reschedule. Occasionally, you may receive an appointment notice to appear at an Application Support Center to have your fingerprints taken when you have filed a form other than those listed above. In these situations, you may receive your appointment notice more than 30 days after submitting your application or petition.
If you have questions or concerns about your application or the case status results
listed above, or if you have not received a decision from USCIS within the current
processing time listed*, please contact USCIS Customer Service at (800) 375-5283.
*Current processing times can be found on the USCIS website at www.uscis.gov under Check Processing Times.

My husband is applying for Renunciation and PIO since he became a US citizen. I have the following queries for Renunciation & PIO:
1) In the Renunciation and PIO order forms of CKGS, its asks for passport no. & nationality. I called the application centre helpline, he said that the passport no. in the Renunciation order form has to be entered as the Indian one and for the PIO order Form, passport no. should be entered as the American one. Is this correct? I am still confused
2) Another query is about the Courier fee, prepaid envelope and Airway bill no.? How do I go about this? The application centre helpline guy told me to add the courier fees of $31 ($15.50 Renunciation + $15.50 PIO) to the renunciation order form fees which comes to total of $226 ($195 + $31). The PIO order form fees is $385. So total is $611. Also he told me to go the Fedex to generate the Airway bill no. There is also a courier service/return courier service and reprint courier label mentioned on the website. Do we need to use that also?
3) My husbands Indian passport has the fathers surname spelt wrong as Coelhi instead of Coelho. So in the PIO application form can I correct and enter the fathers name (can give PAN card copy of husband) or should I enter the misspelt name as per the Indian passport?
Anybody who has applied for PIO or OCI card, can you please share your inputs?

I am in process of collecting documents for my father interview may come sometime in April or May.
As My father never gone school and register birth and marriage. So I have sent affidavits (2 relatives) and NABC to NVC. Now Mumbai consulate website also show to bring proof of birth either birth certificate or affidavits and NABC.
What I understand that whatever documents we have sent original and copy. NVC will send original to Mumbai consulate so I do not have to get another 2 affidavits and NABC because Mumbai consulate should have from NVC which I sent original and copy during package 3.
Anyone know 2 affidavits and NABC should be sufficient? or I should get two more affidavits ?
My mother is no longer live so I think her dead certificate should work. NVC accepted. Not sure Mumbai consulate will accept or not.
Anyone comments on this or share view.
how did you manage to get NABC?
-
One of his friends had to go procure it.. took 3 days and almost 4000 rs..
do you have any contacts in mumbai to do it?
-
ok.. let me expound.. an acquaintance of mine had tried it but was not happy. He said these guys are just the channel for bribe and still there is no guarantee they will get you the document. They had refused to return him the money even when they could not arrange it.
If you have no other way, you just risk some money and try them.
finally how did ur acquaintance manage to get NABC?

o thats really sad to know...i thought there was some ray of hope. i got another site http://halflegal.us/services/documents-from-india/non-availability-of-birth-certificate-india
their fees is $ 350 as compared to allied legal which is $55+ expenses (As Estimated). But this maybe a hoax too.
-
I have not used this site but I did procure Non Availability Certificate from local nagar nigam. If you want guidance you can see my post on that..
i read your post. but i am not sure in mumbai its the same procedure. the office in mumbai is quite non-co-operative. so i wanted to know if this online site will be of any help or not.
-
Has anybody used the services of Allied Legal for No birth certificate or some other service. Is it a genuine site for online services? http://www.alliedlegalonline.com/

I think your GC is fine as it is because the visa was issued before your hubby became USC.
thanks apple21. my interview was on march 6, 2014 (visa issued the same day) and he was sworn in as a citizen on march 28, 2014. my poe was april 5, 2014. I called the uscis number. she told me to schedule an appointment with the local uscis office to inquire. Am still confused.

I got a 10 year green card under F21 category. (My marriage date is 29th December 2011 and POE is 5th April 2014). So its more than 2 years. However, my husband became a citizen after my interview and before my POE. Should my category change or should it be F21 only since we never upgraded our petition?
-
If you used your I-130 case receipt number this is what will show up.
Use your I55A case receipt number which you should be available on Elis website and starts with "IOE".
hey thanks!!! it does show the card was delivered on May 8, 2014 as per IOE receipt number.
-
Since it was already mailed out it shows as Post Decision activity and that is my guess.
Got it. I should have read your timeline again. Makes sense with respect to getting 10yr GC.
no its showing post decision activity since a long time. I have been checking my status since 2-3 weeks daily. Even in India it was showing the same status.
To be specific the exact status shown is as follows:
Post Decision ActivityOn June 28, 2013, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.
For approved applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include USCIS sending notification of the approved application/petition to the National Visa Center or the Department of State. For denied applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include the processing of an appeal and/or motions to reopen or reconsider and revocations.
-
Nope. Entered the recept number at "Check case status" page.
Side question: How come you got the GC valid for 10yrs? Shouldn't it be for 2yrs only and then you file for removing conditions?
yeah i did that only. I guess receipt no. is that begins with 3 alphabets followed by numbers? It shows post decision activity. It doesnt show that green card has been mailed.
I got 10 years 'cause i have been married for 2 years 3 months from date of marriage upto POE and 2 years 2 months upto date of interview. I guess I am eligible?

Wife arrived on april 10th and case status for I55A(which is the immigrant visa fee that you pay for $165) changed to
On May 14, 2014, the production of your new card began. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move while this card is being created, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.
So give it about 45 -60 days from POE to get the card.
did u register at USCIS website? I got my green card but status at USCIS website shows Post Decision activity. I did register today and keyed in my receipt no., last update shows as 06/29/2013.

You can always try and apply although there is no guarantee. The consulate can deny it. One of my friend has got tourist visa while her petition is pending. But she did state in the interview that she has already applied for F2A. And ones she/he comes to USA on tourist visa, has return back to her country in 6 months.
Hi jese_1981,
How did your friend prove ties to India like did she have a job or property? And which Indian consulate did she goto for the interview?
Questions that my friend was asked at Mumbai Consulate are as follows:
Why are you going?
What is your husband doing?
Why are you not going on h1b visa?
What are you doing in India?
Note: She has been denied tourist visa twice to visit her dad in the past.
-
Yes.
thanks apple21

hi,
Unfortunately, Our cut-off date has retrogressed to more than a year. I'd like to visit my spouse on tourist visa. Can anyone help me out by sharing your experiences? I heard that chances of getting tourist visa at this time are very very low..
Thanks a lot!

Neither. It is the POE date. Here is what it says at the NVC site:
If you have been married for less than two years when your foreign citizen spouse enters the United States on an immigrant visa, his or her permanent resident status is considered “conditional.” The immigrant visa is a conditional resident (CR) visa, not an immediate relative (IR) visa.
thanks bkghosh. So my marriage till POE is 2 years 3 months which means am eligible for 10 years green card?
-
I have received my 10 year green card on 8th May 2014. On the date of my interview, I was married for 2 years and 2 months. My query is for issuing 10 years green card is 2 years of marriage counted upto the date of interview or upto when I started my application?
-
After optimized you have 1-3 weeks before you get the green card. It will say "closed" when the card is produced and then you can track the card on the USCIS case status with your IOE number.
thanks NLR

I just became a US Citizen this year. I want to apply for OCI card. I am a city employee seasonal as a cashier. In the oci form they ask if I am in government service? What rank? Should I put my grade as city employee. Will my OCi application be denied?
