Thanks, that was awesome. Took a long time to explain to my US hubbie what KD was. LOL

Thanks! With your experience you should have NO problems. Although, I agree - working in banking in the US would be VERY different than working in a bank in Canada. Good luck to you too - I'm sure it'll go smoothly for you!

I was told at customs in September when I flew to Michigan for my wedding, that if I planned to travel back and forth to see my husband, what I needed was proof of 'ties and equities' to Canada. I have letters signed by my bosses along with employment verification letters and utility bills, and update them for each period of travel. I always feel if I'm honest and have nothing to hide I have no reason to be turned away.

The receipt number is your petition's numerical "Name" in the USCIS system. It is what your petition is called by the USCIS's various adjudicators and other sundry mionions and it's how your petition is located by the USCIS's automated message system (on the phone) and on the website. Your "NOA1" or I-797 will have the receipt number on it, but the two are not synonymous. You can get the receipt number from the text or email the USCIS sends petitioners, or also by calling up the helpline, in addition to getting it off the i-797. I never got my i-797, so I had to get it from the email they sent me.

This poll should include a qualifier for I-130s for spouses of U.S. Citizens, as those seem to be taking the longest and are where the backlog primarily lies.

Wah, Well, found out today that Vancouver consulate ONLY processes K1 and K3 visas, all others go to Montreal. Ridiculous. I guess I'll have to factor in the expense of having to fly to the other side of my country to do the interview. Hopefully hubby and I might make a romantic few days out of it!! But really, how silly. I suppose it's all about cut backs.
    Sigh..........................
