  1. Do you live in Vancouver? If so, I got Tdap (Adacel or Boosterix) at http://www.vancouvertravelclinic.com/.

I'm going to make an appointment with Dr. Cheema next month. :star:

I got the Adacel booster 2 days after ordering via pharmacy. Dr Cheema's office confirmed that I just needed the vaccines listed on their info (for my age group). So all is well! Got all my other medical records, am now in Hope BC with my hubby, heading to medical tomorrow and then our one year anniversary vacation in Victoria!!

    Peace all. :)

  2. People have tried that option but it never works.

here is what your confirmation should look like:

Thanks!! Spot on, it's exactly what I have printed. I think all my paperwork is complete and ready now. Plus got my booster shot today and my medical summary for physical next Wednesday!! I'll be SO glad when this is all done and dusted!!

    Thanks again.

    Peace.

    :)

  3. Guys... Register for courier services only.

Do it after your CEAC says ready. Yes you need the confirmation for the interview day.

NLR - It's a bit confusing, but hopefully I did it correctly. I chose courier services only, but was curious about the option that was Immigrate to the US - NVC scheduled interview. I've printed the confirmation, but please clarify for me if you can, so I'm sure. Thanks!

  4. Yes, I write checks from my RBC US account which are cashed in the states, and yes I applied for the RBC US credit card here in the states. You will have difficulty getting a credit card from a major US bank without a credit rating. The only one you can get will be a secured one (as in, you give them $500 and they give you a credit card with a $500 limit). You will eventually get a US credit rating from it, but I think the RBC credit card will get you there faster.

Interesting thread. I just met with an RBC rep last weekend to get details of the cross border account. He told me I could NOT get the US VIsa as I would have to be a Canadian resident to do so.

He also did NOT mention anything about mobile banking and being able to e-deposit cheques to the RBC US account, nor did he tell me I could write cheques on the US account.

It seems I need to get some clarification around this. I thought that their cross border package seemed like the most sensible way to get myself started once I'm stateside. I already have a BoA account with my husband, but I don't think it starts my credit history down there.

Thanks once again NLR - I played around in the site some more and figured it out. My CEAC says "ready" so will sign up for courier services today.....

    Peace. :)

  6. Really for IR1/CR1, you do the medical and you book your hotel for Montreal (flights etc..) pack up your home, have food and time with family and friends, see some stuff or people you may not see for a while. Really immigration wise, if you sign up for loomis, have you medical stuff ready, and everything for the interview, you had nothing else to do except personal stuff.

Just checked into Loomis site, bit confused about the fees?? It only references fees for non immigrant and then fiancee visas?? Please tell me it's not $265 for me to get my passport back??

  7. to sign up for loomis go here; https://usvisa-info.com/en-ca/selfservice/login

create a new account and sign up for "courier services only"

NLR - thanks for this. I'm wondering WHEN I should register for Loomis?? A couple weeks before the interview ok?? Or sooner?

My lawyer has not referenced this part of the process (Yet, I'm having a call with her Oct 10th).

And I think I need a copy of proof of my Loomis registration at the interview??

Thanks for all your great help!

    Peace.

  8. So turned out my GP didn't have the Tdap booster I needed, pharmacy had to order it. Should get it by end of this week, but man, I'm stressing!! My immigration medical is next Wednesday at 11AM! And so hard to get answers from Dr Cheema's office - some of his paperwork says what vaccines you need, but then references the CDC/State Department website that includes others that he doesn't.....

My GP wanted me to get the Shingles vaccine (I had it when I was 12, and chickenpox when I was little) but it's over $200 and I just don't need the extra expense....

What experiences have others had with the medical exam process???

(I know it will all be ok and work out, but after months of waiting for things to move, now things are whipping along!! LOL)

    Peace all

  9. I got an email back from Dr Cheema's office after I sent a second request and left a voice mail. Got my appt booked for early morning Sept 29th.

Just booked my flight and hotel for Montreal too!

After feedback from VJ'rs as well as reading reviews, I went with the Days Inn.

Thanks to Sarah&Marc for the info!!

    Excited!

    Peace.

    :)

  10. I've not been on the site lately but I'm so glad to see you're interview date is set Sylea! I'll be thinking of you on Oct 22 :luv:

I highly doubt they'll photocopy them, but do you have an extra set of copies you can take along with you to exchange with them at the interview?

Hey Lakehouse thanks!! Sent you a PM, chat to you soon!! :)

Got my 'official' interview letter (P4) by email today, now just trying to get my medical booked!! Anyone else in the West having a hard time getting a reply from Dr Cheema's office?? I've sent 2 emails and left a phone message, but so far no reply.....

    Peace.

  11. Hi & welcome :)

I'm in Ontario... we've just started the spousal application (CR1) by sending off the I-130... and we have a lot of waiting ahead of us. Optimally, if you really do your research & homework, and are prepared for each step, it appears start to end is taking 10-12 months for Canadians.

We decided to go this route so that once I get to the US I can start applying for work right away. From what I've been reading here, the US is not processing the K-3's as much (seems like they're trying to phase it out or something) so if you're already married, the IR1/CR1 would probably be your best bet.

There is A LOT of really great info within these forums which has helped a tonne!! For me, the info about being able to still visit my husband while going through the process was invaluable. I just drive across the border, but carry with me a folder of paperwork - copies of the petitions, the NOA1 we just got, and all the ties back to Canada showing that I am returning....

    Best wishes!!

Best of luck to you! I too, am moving to Michigan, tho sadly live 3200 miles away from hubby, so no weekend visits!! I'm near the end of the long year of wading through this ridiculously broken immigration system, but I have my interview in Montreal (cause it makes sense that someone from BC has to go to Montreal, yes?? Argh) Oct 22, then will start winding down my life here for an anticipated move on December 25th!

Hope things move more quickly for you, and that you don't have any delays!

    Peace.

    :goofy:

  12. Thanks all - I've read Saylin's wiki several times (and looked at her super diagrams of the consulate!), so I'm just trying to satisfy my curiosity.

Why should it be 'first come, first served' if you have an actual appointment time set?? Shouldn't I be able to arrive at say, 830 (one hour before) and still be seen at my appointed time??

I really am just curious, probably won't sleep the night before anyway, so I'm likely to get lined up at 730AM!!

Thanks Mrs THB - I'm flying from BC, will be by myself, so will arrive one day before interview to orient myself, having not been in Montreal for about 25 years. Flights back to BC leave any where from 4PM onwards, so I figured I shouldn't have any problem making a late afternoon/early evening flight day of the interview. Was just interested to hear other's opinions....

I'll be calling Dr Cheema's office today to try and book medical - getting my blood titre test done today, and my TDap and Shingles vaccinations done on Friday.

SO much to figure out - it's a huge move, so many little things to remember to sort out. I have lists lying all over my house!

    Cheers all!

    :goofy:

  13. Congrats!

It seems it just started, unless Sylea was scheduled during the last round and didn't call until today.

I called on Friday last week, Sept 5th to get verbal confirmation that our case was complete as of Aug 29th. Received case complete email yesterday. Called tonight to check on interview and it had been booked.

So seems like they are scheduling just the way it's been explained on VJ.

  14. Hi Sylea! Did u expedite your case? Good for you that you already receive an interview schedule. I wonder if somebody else here haven't receive their interview date yet.

Hi - no expedite, just plodded along waiting like everyone else.

Some days felt like it would NEVER move along, but we finally got here.

We also had a lawyer, not that it made it any faster, we just didn't have the time or patience to do all the paperwork ourselves, and we could afford it. Case was finally complete on Aug 29, (nearly the full 60 days) and I just started calling NVC...

    Good luck to you!

    :)

  15. Okay so now that I've recovered composure (sort of, LOL) I've got questions!!

Why do we need to line up at the consulate at 7AM if we have an actual appointment time booked?? Mine is scheduled for 930AM.

I'm guessing somewhere on VJ there is a link to an easy peasy list of order of documents to have with you??

Am I safe to book my flight back in the evening same day as interview??

Can I book my medical ahead so long as I have actual date?? (I'm expecting the email confirmation in the next day or so)

What a great early wedding anniversary present! Feels like there's actually light at the end of this ridiculously long tunnel now!!!

    Peace all.

    :goofy::dancing::luv:(F)(L)

  16. No ma'am I've called NVC everyday since Friday. We haven't even gotten our case complete email. I'm SURE your date will be assigned. Let me know when you find out!

On hold now......(after re-dialing about 20 times! LOL)

  17. We got our appointment scheduled today for October 23!! How bout you???

    That's fantastic news!! But....arrgghh!!

No I don't have mine yet. Going to start calling tonight, actually am re-dialing now. LOL

Sarah - did you get email or did you find out your date by calling NVC??
