  1. Hello, we got our appointment letter yesterday 7/8 for an appointment on 7/18. Do I need to go with him? Does he need to take anything really other than his resident card? Sorry it's really early and I just saw this in the mail (I subscribed to the usps mail preview when I saw ya'll recommend it and didn't check the mail yesterday and happened to just look at my email on an early morning what time is it break) and had a wait I wasn't expecting this moment so I'm super confused.

  2. Hi All

Need to breathe and type ....woohhh... Got this by checking the status " On August 7, 2015, we registered your permanent resident status and mailed you a Welcome Notice for Receipt Number MSCXXXXXXXXX. Please follow the instructions in the notice. Your new permanent resident card should arrive by October 6, 2015, after this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later."

I know this much that it is good news. Had a few questions and would appreciate the help/feedback

Q1. Would it actually take two months to get the green card? or this is the worst case scenario.

Q2. What is the true likely of us receiving the green card. It seems 3 weeks is the norm.

Q3. What do they mean when they state "Please follow the instructions in the notice. Your new permanent resident card should arrive by October 6, 2015, after this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later.". - Do I have an action to complete a document form, that would support them to send the green card, I am not sure if I understand.

    Thanks guys

We got a paper document a week after the notice went out and then the actual card about 3 weeks later. It didn't really come with any instructions that I saw. That was my question too, what do we do next?

  3. We got the notice for teh green card being approved on the 9th and then this yesterday "On July 10, 2015, we registered your permanent resident status and mailed you a Welcome Notice for Receipt xxxxxx" it says it should be here by Sept 8th?? What do we do now? I've tried to follow the various next steps on here but they get a bit confusing. Do we have to fill out anymore paperwork as it says there may be some? Do we have to get him a new EAD card? Or is this it until we start the next process for bringing his daughter over?? Also, does this mean he can travel back to Australia if needed since he's considered a permanent resident? His mom is having health issues and I'd like an answer other than no you can't go say goodbye.

  4. Hello,

I'm not finding an easy answer to this question so I'll ask here. My husband is still on the interview waiver for his greencard, but his daughter is in Australia. The plan had been to have her remain with her mother until age 10, and then move here as her mother's health is deteriorating and we wanted her to have the time she needed with mom. However, that timeline has changed and I'm afraid my stepdaughter may need to come sooner rather than later. I know I can go get her for the 90 day tourist window, but we don't really have any safe relatives to return her to should her mother get worse. We're just becoming concerned as we get more and more reports of neglect due to bio-mom's medical condition and things happening due to the people the bio-mom brings into the home. Obviously, my husband cant return to Australia, he has a job here and is on waiver. So I'm trying to have a plan in case of emergency really. We didn't put his daughter on his paperwork due to our belief that the mother could manage for the 2 years agreed upon with us taking her for summer holiday.

    Thank you for your advice.

  5. Hello all,

I kept trying to use the search function to see if anyone else has ideas about how to go about paying child support for a child in another country. My husband finally got a job, and now we are trying to assess what would be the best way to get child support money to Australia without the massive fees that the banks charge. We lose about 25 every time we try to send money, and we're trying to think of other ways to do so.

  6. I was looking at our case status and the wierdest thing is on there. It shows the I129f as being updated on 6/8/2015, but if I click it it shows the old 5/6/14 date. Does the case status dates ever get mixed up on the main page where you view all three of your case statuses. We have the interview waiver still for the I-485 even though the date never changed. Anyone got any ideas why there's a new June update on the wrong case?

  7. Welcome to the club! No progress at all (check the specific forum on interview waivers). We should wait 9-12 months from the date of filling....

Sorry I am confused but you have an EAD so why do you need a GC to start working?

It's seeming to be more of a matter to potential employers than anything. He has a driver's license, but it says it's temporary. He has the EAD, but no idea when he can get a GC. These things shouldn't matter, but they do when all of his work history is in Australia and we keep hitting walls on getting anywhere. I know there are probably several on here that are in our position, we need to get him working because there is always the risk that something could happen to me as I have a health condition, or that his daughter will need to come to the states which puts us in a whole other catagory.

  8. Hey, just checking in to see if anyone with interview waivers has had any progress? We finally have a job opportunity lined up for my husband. He went in for the final interview today and we are praying for a call back today as the interviewer he saw seemed confident the boss liked my husband. We really need some movement on this waiver. How long do the waivers last for since we got it months ago and the website still shows his fingerprint stage from back in November??

  9. We just called USCIS to ask why we have not gotten our interview date for our i485 interview, and the woman told us that there is no "timeframe" for them to have it done by and they are working on cases in Mid-June. When we asked, well what are we to do about getting the stamp so he can start driving to work, she stated that there is no longer a Nashville office and that basically we can drive to Memphis (which is 3hrs away) and sweet talk them into trying to get one. I don't feel like any of what she's saying is true based off what I've read online and on here. What do you all think?

  10. My poor husband is all upset because his Australian drivers license expires tomorrow and we have to have the I-551 stamp before he can get one in Tennessee. He's, also, freaking out because our I485 still shows "On September 15, 2014, we accepted the fingerprint fee for your Form I-485," blah blah. Any tips on if there's something I should do now? We're having to send his EAD back since it's got the wrong bday on it, they did email us about it on Dec 13th.

  11. Sorry to clarify I messed up the card application by typing 3/18 as his bday instead of 3/16 like it should be. It's correct every where else so I'm just trying to figure out if we can use the current card for a job offer that he has pending or if I'll have to pay for a new application and it be another 4-5weeks. It's one of those how could I miss this moments that I've been worried about all weekend.

  12. What is that date? Did it hold up your EAD? I'm not understanding your post.

I had typed his birthday wrong on the paperwork for the EAD but it's fine every where else in his AOS. But it's stamped promently on the actual Employment Card as the wrong Bday. I typed 3/18 for his bday on that form and not 3/16 which is his bday. My slip up typo means we may have to pay for the paperwork to be resubmitted and wait longer.

  13. I just had a horrible day at work and was hoping that it was someone else's fault on their end because I'm just freaking out about the money part. My husband was not paying attention and got a $230 speeding ticket, I wrecked my car, he caught the house on fire, and a zillion other little things keep happening since he got here and we got married. I'm running fast out of what I had saved up, and he literally could start a job within a week if that card had been right. Our friend has him lined up with one and everything would have balanced out. Now it's back to a waiting game, on top of the interview waiting game.

  14. Omg I'm so frustrated. We got his EAD today and I had typed 3/18 instead of 3/16 on the damn papers and no one caught it at biometrics or RFE. I can't believe I messed up the paperwork after I spent so much time looking and looking at it for errors. We were so excited when we got the email he was getting one, and now it's like omg do we have to pay to have this resubmitted since it's our fault about the typo? Cash is short and everything else was right ugh /facepalm I've been trying to look on here, but no one ever updated their information when they had typos similarly. Also, nothing on the interview. I just feel so hopeless because I don't really have the what $380 to pay when it is a simple mistake that should have been caught at biometrics

  16. Hey ya'll,

We got my husbands EAD today and it has the wrong date. It's 3/18 instead of 3/16.... and it's my damn typo. I poured over these papers and I don't know how it went unnoticed during his biometric appointment or until now. We were so excited, then he said it's the wrong bday and he called the hotline and the woman said it happens all the time. However, my question is, since it is my mess up will we have to pay for the paperwork to be resubmitted? It was submitted as part of the AOS package so it was included in that check. I'm just beside myself that I messed this up since it's fine everywhere else.

  17. Has anyone's USCIS status not changed past acceptance? We've done the biometrics but we're still at Acceptance on the I 485 and Initial Review on the I765. I sort of except the review for the I765, but it's odd that it has not moved on the I485 even though we did the biometric for it the same day we did the I765. Both appointments were set a few days apart and they took care of both at the I765.
