  1. Hello everyone! Sorry for the late reply I just logged on today. We put our house up for sale the minute our plane touched down from Montreal and this week has been a whirlwind!!!! Hard to believe it's only been a week it feels like a lifetime. Husband's visa arrived at loomis Thursday and we picked it up yesterday. There is the "do not open" envelope, and in his passport a full page color sticker with his photo and all the details, very official looking. Can't wait to move and get our life back on track again.

  2. when they will print your visa finally .. our status ll be changed and it says ..ISSUED

Thanks that is good to know!

POE SUCCESSFUL! It went smoothly, about 45 minutes (it was 3am!) and I am in now Alaska with my husband! Our children are sooooo happy, and so are we! Thank you for the support, good wishes and help everyone! Any questions, let me know! My interview was Monday, and here I am in the U.S. by Saturday afternoon! Yippee!

Wow that was really fast, less than a week after your interview! We put our house up for sale this morning, hope it goes quick. I am so happy for your family, what a huge relief it must be to be together at last!
  3. Well I can definitely relate - this process and the minute to minute step by step waiting has caused me to shed tears on more occasions than I can count!

    The good news?!

My interview was on Monday, approved, visa issued Tuesday, email from Loomis late Wednesday, tracked package and it was delivered at my Loomis location early today (Thursday), I had it in hand at 10am, and will do POE and fly to Alaska on Saturday!!!!

    Good luck tomorrow!

Wow you got your visa back with your passport already? That is awesome, congratulations I am SUPER HAPPY for you, what a relief that package must have been!!! Thanks for the well wishes, I appreciate it!!!

Good luck with your interview tomorrow. Btw, how many passport photos did you need for Medisys? I fly out on Tuesday to do my medical there.

I'll put all the details up on my consulate review tomorrow afternoon, but here are the cliff's notes: on the phone they said 4 passport photos and $250, we actually had $250 in cash set aside in an envelope for this since I wasn't sure they would take credit cards. When we got there, they needed 5 passport photos (THANK GOODNESS I had my extras with me!!!) and the price was over $290 ($252 plus 15% Quebec HST... wonder if I can claim that expense on my Canadian tax refund as a medical expense?). Thankfully they took credit cards so we just charged it.

He got called first for bloodwork, heart rate, eye exam, vitals,... then back to the waiting room. :clock: Then he got called for chest x-ray... then back to the waiting room. :clock: After over an hour he got called for the naked check... no gown or anything, and ewwwwwwwww the doctor didn't even wear gloves!!!! :bonk: and barely rinsed his hand off after!!!! :bonk: They were pretty rude and rough, he didn't know what to expect each time he went in and they acted like he was supposed to know what to do next. After we got back to our hotel we realized they spelled his name wrong on the receipt so we had to go back afterwards on Monday to get them to fix it.

The results came as promised though and were ready today by noon so that was a good thing.

Good luck on your medical and interview!!!

  4. JeffNJazz, how is your time in Montreal going? Did you get your medical results back yet? Good luck on Friday! I am not sure if you saw my review yet or not, but the regional police cert wasn't an issue, but as mentioned it did have a box ticked referring to no matches in the rcmp database. Good luck on Friday!!

Hi AlaskaBound! I just logged on today and read your interview, thanks so much for making it long and detailed, that is super helpful! Now I am freaking out about his passport pics, they were taken August 6 (3 months today). Thanks for including the bit about the police certificate, that helps a lot.

We did the medical on Monday, not sure how it went since they don't give you the results but I'm guessing everything was fine. I wrote a super long review but haven't figured out where to post it yet, probably will post it with my interview review Friday.

Tuesday I got a call from my doctor's office in Winnipeg, I had a followup appointment booked for next Monday, the day after we get back. I booked the appointment a month ago. They called because they wanted to reschedule my appointment for this Friday, November 7 at 11am (10 eastern)... the EXACT same time as husband's interview appointment!!!! They would not give a reason, my guess is the doctor probably decided to make a long weekend of it since Tuesday is Remembrance day. When I questioned it, I got a lecture about how people have lives and the world doesn't revolve around me. I'm sure it was an overreaction but between the stress of having my life planned out in 5 minute increments for the last year and now a week to sit and do nothing but wait, I had a meltdown and spent most of Tuesday crying and pouting... :crying: the stress of a year of having my life put on hold and living on a schedule that is not my own all came out on Tuesday :crying: (FYI I feel much better now  )

So yesterday we decided to take a walk to the consulate just to see where everything is... It took 15 minutes to walk there, including about 7 minutes waiting for the hotel elevator so not bad at all. I was reading the times posted in the window when the security guard opened the door to ask if he could help us. There was nobody outside, it was early afternoon. I told him our interview was scheduled for Friday. He said to make sure to bring the loomis paper and no bags and we would be fine, said the doors open at 7:30. I told him our appointment isn't until 10. He said "you didn't hear it from me but around here things work on a first come, first served basis". Then I told him I was the USC and my husband was the one interviewing, asked if it was ok for me to come in with him. He said as long as I bring my US passport he would be sure to let me in. He was very nice, hopefully indicative of the rest of the staff inside.

Husband just called Medisys, they told him the results would be ready to pick up in about an hour. We are just across the street so will leave in about half an hour. He said it sounded like they were gonna start putting it all together after he called, like if he hadn't called they would not have started to work on it yet. It will feel so much better once we have that packet in hand, one more small victory on this long journey.

  5. You mean you're not going to dress "American"? :wow::wow::wow::wow:

I'm wearing a cowboy hat for my interview!:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

    :rofl :rofl :rofl

Hi everyone, just checking in - in Montreal and psyched for my interview TOMORRROW!!! Wish me luck!

P.S. @AustinCanada and @TeaCup: thank you or the fashion advice. Iol

Best of luck to you for a painless interview and a happy outcome! I'll be thinking of you

We landed in Montreal today, I'm typing this from our hotel. Husband's medical is tomorrow, just a quick walk from here, after his appointment that will be one more milestone reached, with 3 big ones left (interview, house sale & POE)

Things are starting to get REAL!!!! At last :-)

  6. I will be sure to let you know how it goes! I am flying westjet too! Are you flying direct or via Toronto? Would be ridiculous if we were on the same flight.

Sorry, it was an awkward choice of words. I meant if it says ready and Frankfurt then they should be able to schedule you any time! Some countries allow you to take the medical before you have the interview letter, but most don't. So, I would phone the physicians office and ask/explain you have an expedite and could have an interview on short notice (or whatever you want to tell them) and maybe just maybe they will see you, or at least let you book an appointment. I would also be calling/emailing/sending an online inquiry to the embassy in Frankfurt asap (today!) to ask if they have scheduled you yet and if not, to let them know you are ready and waiting for interview date. Good luck! Many including myself have tried and failed at getting an expedite so run with it!

Hi we are flying direct from Winnipeg, on the way back there is a layover in Toronto. 2 hours to get there, 8 hours to get home after it all, LOL at least we should hopefully be able to relax a bit on the way home. If there is not good news it will be the longest flight ever!

  7. I am flying to Montreal on Sunday too! Maybe we'll bump into one another I will be scouting out the location of the embassy Sunday evening - My interview is Monday! Good luck with everything. I opted to just go with my regional police cert as well since the box was checked that there was no match on the RCMP database. Hopefully fine! I did get an email requesting a couple things (petitioners birth cert, kids' citizenship proof), but no request for a new police cert.

That would be crazy, what a small world! We are flying Westjet and our medical is Monday the same day as your interview. Please pretty please post a review of your experience I would love to read it before our interview Friday.

Woohoo.the weather will be nice.and it will be fun.if you haven't been beforedefinitely check out the St josef oratory and walk up mont royal mountain.it will be LOADS of fun...

Thanks for the tips, I'll be sure to check those out. I am crossing my fingers and toes that the nice weather holds out just a little bit longer, here in Winnipeg we have had light flurries but so far nothing has stuck and today the weather is beautiful.

Your interview is on Nov 7th! Mine is on Nov 10th (next business day)!

Please make sure to "Submit Reivew" (next to your interview date on your timeline) so I can review it before my interview! LOL!

Yes Austin I'll be sure to post our review, good or bad (but hopefully good). Good luck on yours as well, I'm sure everything will go just fine.

That's weird I typed a reply to target November but it didn't post

I am grateful the nice weather is holding up,thanks for the tips!

  8. We leave for our interview in Montreal on Sunday, wow that came fast! Today was my last day at work before our trip, and we are putting our house up for sale the day we get back so life has been a whirlwind!

Combined air miles with credit card points to get 2 round trip flights to montreal for only $12, was super happy about that! The hotel we are staying in has a pool and hot tub, we are there for 5 days for the medical and then interview so I will definitely be making use of those.

Like the poster from Winnipeg, I didn't get the RCMP police certificate only the Winnipeg one with National Criminal Records search box checked off so hopefully that will be enough, if it is not there is no time to do anything else at this point. I have not gotten any extra checklists or requests for info from the consulate so I am really hoping we will be okay.

Like the poster from Alberta, we will be doing our medical and interview all on the same trip, medisys told me they need 3 business days to process results, I gave them 4 just to be safe. I'm grateful that our interview fell on a Friday so we don't have to stay for the weekend when no processing is being done anyway.

Tonight I have to finish packing our bags and getting the final touches put on the immigration binder, tomorrow a trip to the spa for a couples massage, the perfect way to unwind from all this stress before the interview so we can be relaxed and natural. SO excited to move on to the next part of our lives already!

  9. Long day at work today and the flu shot clinic with hubby afterwards, that is the last one and now he is all good to go!

So I got home and it's all over the news that there was a shooting in Parliament Hill and all the Consulates were closed today all across Canada! Did anyone from vj have their interview today in Montreal? What a horrible thing to have happened! I wonder how this will affect security and if they will still let me go in with hubby or not? Our interview is in 2 weeks.

What a sad, crazy world it can sometimes be.

  10. Wow another 20 pages to catch up on, this thread is moving faster than before! Hubby went back to the doctor Wednesday to get the second tdap shot and the flu shot, but the doctor said they didn't have the flu shot in stock yet so he had to wait. I found a local clinic that will be giving them this Wednesday, have to call and make sure they provide documentation for it.

The doctor charged us for 2 letters, one for the vaccination record, another was a letter that he had been visiting a psychiatrist in 2010 and is now fine and not in need of further treatment. The letter was very well written, and I was so happy! Then I got to the bottom, and realized that next to his signature he hand dated it 10/14/2015... DOH! The 2014 date is printed at the top, but the handwritten date is a year ahead. He also misspelled my husband's name. He did his for both letters. I really hope this won't be a problem for the medical.

We fly out next Sunday for the medical and the interview so we are coming down to the wire for time crunch!

Also the whole naked thing, I read that the medical exam includes an examination of the external general is so this is what hubby is expecting, I'm surprised to read that some got by without even taking off their shirt! That would make my guy so happy but I'm not counting on it, will post more when the medical is done.

  11. Hi all, sorry I haven't been on in a few days, seems like there has been a lot to catch up on! It has been a whirlwind here, Monday I got the interview email, called medisys in Montreal to book the medical exam. They wanted to book it Tuesday for a Friday interview but I thought that was just too close for comfort so I made it Monday instead. Even then I will be holding my breath until we have results in hand. Had to book appointment with his gp for vaccinations beforehand, flights to Montreal and hotel for a week, packing up boxes at home, making the for sale sign and website to sell our house, touch up painting around the house, etc. if all goes well we are hoping to list our house the day we get back, would be nice to sell before the brunt of winter sets in.

Question for those who have had their medical already, I saw somebody mention what boxes to tick? Is there a questionnaire to fill out at the medical? Is it the same for all countries? Is it posted online anywhere? My husband had been treated for depression and anxiety but it was years ago, he is fine now, and we don't really have any records that say anything, hope that doesn't mess us up down the road.[/

There is a form you need to fill in before the medical. It's part of the PDF file for your countries medical info on the NVC site. If he has had depression, he will need to a letter from his doctor saying he is ok now and what was prescribed for it, how long it lasted etc. they just want to know he's a not a danger to himself or others.

Hi thanks for your reply... The issue is that the doctor he saw is no longer practicing here, she has moved away and the gp does not have it in his records. I hope this does not cause issues for us, he sees his gp one last time next Wednesday before we go. I guess I will ask for a printout of whatever records he has and go from there

  13. I wonder if NVC went back to scheduling interviews once a month (since they're making lots changes recently).

I thought it was strange that they scheduled interviews on the 10th (instead of the 15th). :o

So maybe they decided to schedule interviews on the 10th of every month?

Maybe it wasn't because of the summer that NVC scheduled interviews twice a month?

Maybe it was because of the backlog at USCIS that they had to schedule more interviews from June, 2014 to last month?

Perhaps the backlog has been reduced so they went back to scheduling once a month? :huh2:

I guess we don't know what's going on so we'll just have to wait to find out. :bonk:

Maybe we get interviews tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

Gosh I hope we don't all have to wait until the 10th of October for interview dates that would be brutal!!! I'm already getting millions (only a slight exaggeration) of questions a day from people at work, friends and family, they all want to hear, "so did you hear anything from immigration yet? When are you guys moving?" So tired of feeling like our lives are on hold, so ready to move on to the next stage already

But of course you are right, all any of us can do is wait and see

  14. I think this has happened to other people when their case is being worked on. Hopefully they are scheduling interviews.

    Thanks for the reassurance :-)

Just noticed the date on the letter is 9/17 and was only addressed to my husband, I did not get one. Maybe that is the date we got a cc? I found out about the cc on 9/19 because that is when I called, and we both got the email on 9/22 so our emails are both still working. I'll try to call when I get home from work at 9pm.

  15. Just got a letter from NVC addressed to my husband that days, "we updated the mailing/email address for this case. Please continue to notify the NVC of any change of mailing/email address, or change and personal situation that may affect the principal applicant entitlement to a Visa."

The funny thing is, we didn't change anything. I'm on hold now to find out what's going on, will ask about interview while I'm on the phone. I only hope they answer soon, on hold 18 minutes and I have to leave for work in another 20.
