  1. My esposo and I just went through the long list of interview questions, I think we'll do great! :)

One question I do have is what's a good answer to "why do you want to move to the USA?" Obviously it can't be because he wants to be with me since I'm living in CR with him right now. The *real* reason is because Costa Rica is really expensive and you get paid very little, in the USA cost of living is lower and you get paid more. Also my esposo kind of hates CR right now (I'm sure he'll miss it when we leave, absence makes the heart grow fonder and what not). But would that be an acceptable answer? To say the USA is cheaper and the jobs are better?

I was also unsure when it came to this question but the CO didn't ask it in the end. If he had my husband was going to say...my wife wants to move back home and has been living here with me until we were able to do so and until I received the visa.

  2. So my husband had his interview this morning and he was approved!!! We are so overjoyed!!!

The CO he had was very nice and asked only a few questions. When and where did we meet, what we both do for a living, and why he want to move to the U.S. He was not asked for 2013 transcripts but he offered to submit them anyway. Because I am living with him in Israel, only the Joint Sponsor's 2013 tax transcripts were taken. They did not want or need mine. They gave him back the originals and told him he will receive his passport in a couple of weeks.

I'm so happy to have had the support of VJ throughout this long 15 month process. I wish all of you the very best of luck in your upcoming interviews and afterwards!

  3. My parents had their interview this morning in London and were approved :D Finally after 15 months, we are done. I will post a detailed review when I Skype with them this weekend, but they were asked the following:

    Who I was

    Where I lived

    What did I do

When they were planning to go to the US

Where they were going to live when they got there

My Mum was also asked a trick question asking if she had been to Colorado before as there was someone there with her maiden name. Weird question to ask but she answered no and told the immigration person that you can't catch me out, lol!

Thank you to everyone who has helped me with questions along the way, especially Saylin and D-Wheels. I couldn't have got through all the paperwork without all your expert advice. To anyone else that is still waiting, keep the faith and you will be reunited with your family soon :)

Yayyy! Congratulations!!! As a fellow March NOA1 I can just imagine the great relief!

  4. 3 days after interview and I am just now checking in.

First off, thank you to everyone who has congratulated my husband and me, and second, congratulations to all those case completes and those who have recieved interview dates.

    Interview review:

We arrived in Ciudad Juarez on Sunday around 6pm. On Monday my husband left for his medical around 5am. (No appointment, you can just show up.) I waited for him at our hotel because of our 8 month old. He got back around 7:20am.

Congratulations!!! It's been quite an eventful and exciting week!

  5. I was just reviewing some information on this page here

    http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/support/i-864-frequently-asked-questions.html

I noticed that it says all AoS forms should be filled out in CAPITAL letters. Does anyone know how important this is? Has anyone filled it out without having it in all caps and still got approved?

I did not use caps and it got approved. I also haven't read of anyone else having a problem with it.

  6. I'm hoping someone may be able to shed some light for me. At the NVC stage I submitted 2010, 2011, and 2012 tax information. For my husbands upcoming interview he will bring an updated I-864 + W2 + transcript of the Joint Sponsor to include tax year 2013 in case the CO requests it. Because I am a USC living and working abroad I have an automatic filing extension. This means he won't be bringing an updated I-864 for me. He will bring my IRS tax extension form plus my foreign equivalent to a W2 to show my 2013 income. Should that be enough to satisfy the CO? Thank you!!!!

  7. It sure is! Congrats!!!

    Is this a case complete?:

    Dear Sir or Madam:

The National Visa Center has received all documentation necessary to complete pre-processing
of your case. As soon as an interview date has been scheduled, the applicant, petitioner
and attorney (if applicable) will be notified.

The applicant should NOT make any travel arrangements, sell property, or give up employment
until the US Embassy or Consulate General has issued a visa.

The US Embassy or Consulate General may require additional documentation at the time of
the interview. Additional documentation requirements if applicable can be referenced at
    the following URL: http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3742.html

    Sincerely,

    Director
    National Visa Center

  8. We are also both abroad and going through this process without a lawyer. After reading some people's posts here about horror stories with their lawyer, we are somewhat glad we chose not to go with one.

I second your wish about there being a special section for people filing from abroad! :)

I agree to both having a section for people filing from abroad (I have seen a few threads but nothing recent or helpful) and about the lawyer. Our lawyer seriously screwed things up.

  9. Spent the past hour and a half looking for some solid information for the Jerusalem Consulate's reputation in terms of processing times, how much they scrutinize you etc... Couldn't find anything substantial.

My wife has her interview next month. If someone has some information on how things work at the consulate - especially how soon after the interview you get your visa - I would really appreciate it.

Me too and I have spent countless hours searching
