  1. Do I need to file this? This isn't apart of the AOS Form Downloads... Also, how do I get my medical report if my previous docs don't have the records anymore? As in, I was a K-1 now filing for AOS and all of my medical reports went with security when I left at Toronto... They took the entire package. The only thing that I was given was a CD of my xrays...

usually they give you a copy when you do the medical for the K-1 visa not sure why you didn't get one. In my case my fiance got a copy of the medical report and the immunization record (not sure of the form numbers). When we filed for AOS the records were current seeing as the process is such a long one by the time it got to the local office for processing we were asked to submit an updated I-693 as it had been more than a year since hubby did his medical and they are only good for one year. They gave us 30 days to submit the updated form. You can download the I-693 off the USCIS website and I think it is also available here on VJ (Form Downloads) but that is actually not really necessary as the civil surgeon offices have them and you can get them from there. That was the case with us. Found a list of approved civil surgeons on the uscis website for my area and started calling asking for the price. It can be rather pricey so beware. the cheapest I could find was a doctor who did it for $175 and that is just to fill out the paperwork and do the blood work to ensure that he had all the required shots. while we were there gave them proof of his immunization and they stated since it had been a year from his last physical that he needed to have the TB test redid. that cost $35 more. so we had to leave everything at the doctor's office to wait for them to read the TB test and get the blood results prior to the doctor signing the I-693. 2 days later while we wait they said my husband needed another shot and that would cost $230. took the name of the shot he needed and went to CVS urgent care and got it for free as it was covered under our insurance. took that proof back to the doctor and they signed the form and we mailed it out. a week later his green card was approved.

In our case I had the feeling that by the time they got to processing our case the medical would have been expired but I didn't do another one when I sent in the AOS package thinking that they would have let it slide since at the time we applied for AOS the medicla was still current (wishfull thinking). What I would advise is to get the I-693 done and added to your AOS package to prevent any delay if by chance you have already sent in your package without the immunization form from the medical start doing your research. ensure that all vaccinations are completed and update and documented and start looking into finding civil surgeons in your area for if and when u will need one.

I don't know how else you can prepare for the medical requirement portion of the AOS process. not sure if you can request a copy from them? maybe someone with more knowledge can advise. I do wish you luck because trust me I feel your pain. Best of luck to you in your journey

  2. WAs wondering the same thing about this ADIT so I went and looked it up. found this on anohter Vias Journey member post didn't know how to share the link to it so I copied and pasted. here is the explanation:

ADIT is another name for biometrics (fingerprinting & photo)..ADIT means "Alien Documentation, Identification & Telecommunications System".If you have already done your biometrics, just disregard it unless they give you another notice. It's just one of those standard uscis mail templates.

  3. Well. It's been a while since I've gotten on here! In March we got an interview waiver notice. Supposedly we should hear by September 15th.

    Here's hoping!

Got our waiver letter in Feb so we should have heard something this month but about 3 weeks ago we received a letter asking for new medical did that and sent it in so now we wait. We are out of the Oakland Park office processing times put them at 5 days prior to our fee acceptance date so :whistle::whistle: we wait for now.

  4. Just out of curiosity if you only applied for EAD & not AP seeing as they are a combo card do they just give you AP when they send the card? Anyone knows?

  5. So this morning, we received an e-mail notice that we are scheduled for an interview for the I-485 and that it is scheduled for March 30th. Considering we filed our AOS package on December 31st, I really didn't think that we would have an interview this quickly (pretty much 3 months from filing date).

No movement on our I-765 or I-131 yet, hopefully those will be approved soon.

Hi can you include your timeline please. Also I just wanted to confirm that you are petitioning for AOS as your profile states naturalization.

  6. OK guys I'm a bit confused here and need a little help. So we got the notification for EAD card production on Feb 6th and still looking out in the mail for the actual card. However, we received a notice of our Approved AP which was a letter stating what it was and that we should not lose it and use it for re-entry. But I thought that AP & EAD was a combo card. Am I wrong? Please enlighten me.

  7. Lisa,

There is no limit on the # of people you can sponsor. As long as they are a spouse, parent or sibling and you meet the financial obligation to sponsor them. I sponsored my mom and fiance around the same time and actually got it where they got the same interview date and they both got approved. Just do your research and I am sure you can also find some useful information on Visa journey to help you. good luck

    forgot to add offspring

  9. Good day. I am not sure if this is the right location to post this. If not please feel free to relocate this post to where it needs to be. Let me also apoligixe for duplicating posts if that is the case here. My question is actually for a friend of mine that is here on a student visa and is currently under OPT status if I am saying this correctly. Anyway, he is married to a permanent resident who will be a citizen and they would have been married for 2 years by the time they apply for his AOS. Once approved and he receives his green card how long would he have to wait before he can file for U. S citizenship? Thank you in advance for your responses and advice.
