  1. Hello Friends!

I apologize if this question is a re-post...i did browse through past topics but I didn't see it posted, so I am going to go ahead and ask!

Hubby and I are still patiently waiting for our NOA2... We filed at the end of January, so I am thinking it should be here within a couple of months :). Is there anything we could/should be doing now, while we are waiting, that would be beneficial for us later?
I know i need to get a copy of my long form birth certificate and a police check (can i get the police check ahead of time and it still be valid?), but any other advice would be greatly appreciated!

    thanks!

  2. So, I ended up answering my own question! For anyone who reads this down the road...

I went to my issuing passport office, with the request for a certified copy form printed off and filled out. I also brought my passport. They simply scan it in and give it back, so you dont have to surrender it. They said it will be 15 days before i get anything in the mail (they cannot mail out of country, and since i will be away in 15 days, i opted to have it mailed rather than pick it up). However today i had to sign for a parcel- my certified copy is here and good to go!

    Super simple and easy! :)

  3. Hi Everyone!

I am hoping someone can give me some advice:

My husband and I have a CR1 Visa in progress, currently we are waiting for our NOA2 (we are likely a few months away from this still). However, we need to complete the W7 IRS tax form, so that he can recieve his tax rebate. We do have an accountant helping us in the US, and i understand that i need to submit a certified copy of my passport, from the issuing agency. (i would rather provide the passport vs any other of the acceptable documents)

Here is my question: When i go in and request this from the passport office; do i have to surrender my passport, or will they pull the information from a computer database? I know that it will take 10 days to process, however I ask only because I am going on vacation with hubby very very soon... and i will need my passport to do so.

Its not an urgent matter, as we already know he will be recieving a rebate, but i am just wondering if i should attempt to do this before i leave. It would be nice to be able to get the ball rolling!

If anyone has been through this and can offer advice, it would be greatly appreciated!

  4. That's so strange! I am also Canadian, and I am pending a CR1 Visa. I was JUST in the US to visit my husband. I was asked similar questions: "Why are you coming to the US?"- To visit my hsuband. "How long are you staying?" - 7 days, i go back to work on Wednesday. "Will you be moving here?"- Eventually, we have a CR1 Visa in progress.
...and that was it. It was literally a 50 second intercation, and then i was permitted to cross. Mayeb it is different with a K1 Visa, but I am aware of other couples that were permitted to visit with the K1 pending....

Sorry that happened to you :( That really sucks!

  5. Hello friends :)

Such an exciting time! My hubby and I are hoping to have our I-130 in the mail in the next few days!!
Just a (somewhat) random question regarding the proof of relationship section of the application package...

Since we live in different countries and do not have joint property/finances we are going to include the following:

    -Call logs from MSN messenger

    -Skype screen shots

-8 photos with dates and locations

-plane tickets for a trip we took together

-Thank you card from a wedding we attended (addressed to both of us)

    -letters from family/friends

(since we eloped, we dont have any wedding invites or photos...will this be a problem? Obviously we have the copy of the marriage license included but do we need to explain this anywhere?)

My question is: does each item need a description? I was thinking of putting a little tab on the side of each different proof, but should i also include a "mini cover page" explaining what they are going to be seeing? (Such as "Please find enclosed screen shots demonstrating dates of MSN conversations between (wife) and myself. These logs date back to 2009, and were our primary source of conversation for many months. Please note, that there are 3 separate accounts that were used (Hi-lighted on the left hand side of the document), and therefore some dates may be overlapping.") Or is this total overkill?

Thanks in advance for any help or insight!

  6. Hi Everyone!

I'm new here, and im not quite sure how things work- so please be patient :)

My husband and I are just about ready to send off our I-130 application. I'm just wondering if someone can give some feedback regarding what we need to send in, as i seem to have gotten myself all confused! He is the US citizen, and I am Canadian.

    So here's what we have

    -Table of contents

    -I-130 form

    -payment

    -G-325A for him

    -passport style photo of him

    -G-325A for me

    -passport style photo of me

    -His long form birth certificate

-his US passport card & Drivers license (certified copy)

-my passport info page and drivers license (certified copy)
    -Copy of our marriage certificate

-Proof of relationship (photos, skype calls, IMs, a few airline tickets from a trip we took together etc etc)

Is there anything missing? I am wodering if we need to include criminal background checks, a copy of my birth certificate, employment records, financial records etc etc. I feel like i read this off another site, but im really confused if it is required or not. Just like everyone, we are trying to make this as smooth and simple as possible.

Any feedback would be so greatly appreciated!

    thank you!
