  1. Hi everyone,

Sorry, i know i have seen similar topics to this but none of them quite answered the question i have.

In 2012 i purchased a new GM vehicle (and i love her). I am financing through GM (and subsequently through TD). I still have several years of payments left- so long as i continue to pay monthly, can i import my vehicle? Has anyone gone through this, or know someone who has, or know where I can get this information?

(I know that i will also need the compliance letter from GM)

    Thank you!

  2. Hi everyone,

I am just doing a bit of research about the medical. I know it is best to bring evidence of vaccination from your family doctor to avoid having to pay for the vaccines. However, it seems that certain expense need to be paid out of pocket (the actual exam with the physician, the chest x-ray..). Just wondering if anyone has had luck with having private insurance cover part of these expenses.

It's starting to feel like there are more and more fees every time this process moves forward ($465 for the I-130, $88 for the AOS, $230 for IV, $35 for a long form birth certificate, $80 for police checks, ~$200 for medical exam, $165 after the interview..passport photos.. travel expenses for the interview...) and it's starting to feel overwhelming. I know at the end of the day it will be worth it to be with my husband, but anything to help cut back on some expenses would be a welcome change!

  3. Hi Everyone!

Hopefully some can help to assist me! I am sure i am not the first person to be in this situation!

I am currently prescribed to two medications by my OB/GYN. Will i be able to transfer this prescription to an american pharmacy after i obtain my visa, or will i have to find a physician in the US to give me a prescription?

Any guidance would be much appreciated!!

    :)

  4. oops, i think i answered my own question. My local police service does not offer the appropriate check for Visas. From them, i obtained the name of a company that can do a country wide search.

If you're in Canada, here is a list http://www.morpho.com/morpho-in-canada/find-out-more-about-our-canadian-services/canada-locations/?lang=en
And here is a RCMP list http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/rtid-itr/vulner-eng.htm

  5. In addition to pictures (i printed them out on a piece of paper and wrote the location, date, and who was in the pic underneath), plane tickets from trips we took together, greeting cards/wedding invites addressed to both of us (photocopy front and back) i included a LOT of electronic communication documents:

chat logs from facebook (i tired to find one/month)
screen shots of facebook public posts that were either about us both (tagged by friends) and that were back and forth to each other (ones about us being together, us on vacation, cute love notes)

    Skype screen shots (one/month)

    MSN chat logs showing dates

    MSN conversations that were cute/lovey

    Facetime screen shots

Emails between the two of us

You can download your facebook history as a document, and you can use the "view friendship" screen to get lots of info.
I have a mac, so was unable to get skype call logs, hence my using screen shots instead. I also used a hi-liter to show the dates.
I lost all my saved text messages when i got a new phone, if you still have yours, add that too.
We use google voice to communicate, but i didnt submit those call logs, as they look really awkward and were hard to follow.

Our I-130 was approved in about 5 months- no RFE :)

  6. Hi everyone!

I just have a quick question about the police record checks. I have had the same perminant address my whole life. I have never registered any other address with the government. However, I did move out for a period of 4 school years to a city about 1.5 hours away while i attended university. Do i need to get a police check for that city as well? I held a lease there, but always kept my perminant address as my home town.

any advice would be much appreciated!

  7. Humm you should follow up with them... I have hada hell of a time getting a hold of them lately (i tried calling for 3 hours today, the line was always busy...finally got through and was then put on hold for 20 min. The girl who answered was very pleasent and told me that our case had been received but was not yet in the system. Our I-130 was approved 05 Jun).
I would advise calling until you are able to speak with someone... they are open until midnight EST, so try calling in the evening. Hopefully they can help you.

  8. Hi Kooliz,

I am also canadian and recently married my American :)

We have a straight forward case (no kids, no arrests, no financial issues, no deportations) and decided to go for it without an expensive lawyer (this process will cost enough as is!) The guide here on VJ have been fantastic, and so far we have had our I-130 approved with no RFE, our case is now at the NVC.

I would say you can absolutely do this on your own. just TAKE YOUR TIME, read things twice and if you don't understand something ask around here for help! We even used a youtube guide to help put together our I-130 package.

http://www.visajourney.com/content/i130guide1 here is a great place to get started!

    Good luck!

  9. when we submitted out I-130 package we included:

12 photographs of the two of us together/ with family and friends (i wrote the names of the people, the location, and the date below the picture)

Airline tickets froma trip we took together

Key cards from a cruise we took together

copies of holiday cards/ wedding invites addressed to both of us

Skype conversations (i went back and found ones that showed the date.. one/ month for 4 years)

MSN conversations (again showing the date)

Messenger convos (Again, date was shown. I tried to get about 1/ month)

Our petition was approved with no RFE. :)

Some things that I was unable to gather but that were recommedned for us:

If you have made any purchases together where both of your names appear on the bill (things like furnature)

Any gift recepits that you have for each other (flowers, ebay, amazon when one of you is the sender and the other shows as the shipping address)

    money orders

    letters from family and friends

if your passport was stamped when you visited each other

if you had a wedding reception/ceremony you can send invitations (I was married at city hall, so i didnt have this)

if you are on eachothers insurance policies/ wills

    good luck with your journey!
