  1. Yes you can apply. I'm a school teacher and I've worked with many teachers that had foreign credentials. (India, Nigeria, England, etc.)

Applying at a private or charter school is a great idea. Also, inquire as to which schools can validate your credentials, here. In NYC, I know that Bank Street College does it. Call the college of education at the nearest American university when you get here and ask them about this.

  2. Hi Bryman,

They won't reject you... just send you an RFE. Then you just send in the necessary things.

    Here's a link to the guide: http://www.visajourney.com/content/i130guide1

I'm sorry if I come across as harsh... but why did you not even look into this before sending everything off? It's so easy to find out what to do and now you've probably wasted $420 and a lot of months before they even get back to you to deny it.

Yes you are being harsh on him. He's new and maybe didn't know about this. It's not like the official USCIS website spells it all out.

No, he won't lose the $420. They'll just ask him to send in the missing stuff by way of an RFE.

  3. People! No negative thinking! No raining on our parade!

Let's collectively try the "power of positive thinking". Whether you believe in it or not, try it out.. Pray if you're religious, visualize it if you're not...

Let's try to imagine the NOA2 arriving... it's in the mail truck.... it's in our mail box.... it's in our hands.. we open the envelope... "approved!"

Let's really try to be more optimistic!

The USCIS is not trying to screw us over. Government entities tend to work slow. Let's try to change our way of thinking and keep hoping for the best.!

  4. .........................and you come in here, a self-help internet forum asking for help?

    What's wrong with you?

Talk to an experienced immigration lawyer BEFORE even thinking about filing any immigration paperwork! Preparation is KEY to success in life. You should already know about that.

Mark Ellis is a well known lawyer here specializing in Vietnam-related petitions. TALK to him NOW!

You can afford it. So use your money to buy happiness before it's too late!

    lol you're jealous

  5. KT, I am sorry for what you're going through.

I also went through a divorce and mine was pretty nasty. Try to find peace in the fact that things can only get better from here. Life might seem rough for now and that it "sucks" but I promise you that things WILL get better. You'll rebuild your life back in Canada, see old friends and make new ones like someone mentioned. Your situation is rough and it might hurt now but this will make you stronger.

Please don't look at yourself as failing. Just as a learning experience... I learned a lot from my divorce and eventually I found someone that really makes me happy (even though we live 5000 miles away from each other while we wait and wait and wait for a "piece of paper" that tells us we can live together under the same roof...)

Lots of hugs!!! We're here for you as your VJ family :)

  6. this coming nov 28 me and my husband celebrating a 2nd wedding anneversary and hopefully we can received a gitf from uscis we need noa2

    Jennybateman,

Wow! You filed in 2011! The way the USCIS is handling your case is UNACCEPTABLE!

Your husband (or whoever the petitioner is) needs to file an e-request, ASAP! Go here: https://egov.uscis.gov/e-Request/Intro.do

Click on the link and follow the e-request. They are supposed to get back to you in a relatively short time (< 30 days.. they got back to me that quick) since you are well past the processing time!

Also, make sure that the petitioner contacts his / her local congressman/woman!!!

They should act on your case QUICKLY.
