When was your interview and when did DHL pick up the package?
I had my interview on Wednesday, 03/11/2015 and pick up was 03/13/2015.
When I check DHL, I still get no response/tracking number is unknown. But I tried deutschepost.de as well...getting this message:
Die Sendung wurde am 13.03.2015 eingeliefert und befindet sich in der Zustellung.
Unfortunately, I can't see where it is :-/ Or I am checking the wrong thing.
I had my interview on Thursday March 12, a day after you, and pick up was also March 13.
I get the same message (unknown number) when trying to track the mail on DHL.
I think they send it with the regular mail (als Einschreiben) and not with DHL, which is why we can only find information on deutschepost.de.
When I track mine, I get the following message: "Die Sendung wurde am 13.03.2015 in unserem Logistikzentrum Frankfurt/M. bearbeitet."
Yours seems to have gotten a bit further than mine.
-
Yeah! I received that email today.
How long does it take then? Because when I try tracking the number, it keeps telling me that this number is "not valid".
I had the same problem. I'm able to track the mail since this morning on deutschepost.de.
Mine is still stuck in Frankfurt though.

Any updates on that topic?
I am waiting for my passport to arrive as well.
How did you get the tracking number?
Did you register on ustraveldocs.com?
I received an automated email from them today that contained the airway bill (tracking number):
Dear XXX,
Your document(s) have been collected from the US Embassy/Consulate
The passport number being returned is XXXXX and the airway bill for tracking is XXXXXX
You have chosen to have your documents delivered to the following location:
XXXXXXXXXXX
If you have any issues or concerns, please contact us at www.ustraveldocs.com/de.
I'm a CR-1 filer and not K1, but the visa/passport delivery process should be the same, I assume.

For March folk you should be fine with what you submitted to NVC. Just have your 2014 W2 to show what you made and a most current pay stub..
Thanks for the fast reply.
I appreciate it!

After all the tax and interview questions, I would have a question regarding that too:
I will have my interview on March 12, so roughly a month before the IRS deadline.
We have filed the taxes back in January already so transcripts etc. are available.Would it be, under my circumstances, good to have an updated affidavit of support with me when going to the interview?
Thanks in advance. -
By the way about the letter of explanation. . Did you write to a layer or you just did it yourself? Thanks
I wrote it myself.
I just stated there is an error on our marriage certificate and explained that my wife's date of birth is not September 12th, as stated on the certificate, but September 16th.
And that we already applied for correction of the error and attached a copy of the amendment form as proof, as well as a copy of the driver's license as as additional proof of identity.
And that in case they want to see the corrected version, they should contact us and we will gladly mail it to them as soon as we receive it.
I didn't write anything super elaborate as you can see, but it worked.

Hi guys stupid mistakes. i noticed my wife date of brith on your married certificate is wrong instead of june 2 its june 6.. we got it today from NSO in the philippines.. we called cityhall manila to correct it but they said its gonna take 4 to 6 months.. i called USCIS they said i could mail it and attach letter of explanation but its not garantee that they will accept it.. anyone has this issue before please share.. i know its a very stupid mistakes.. thanks
Happened to me too. It was a California marriage certificate though.
What I did:
I sent off the marriage certificate with the wrong date of birth, attached a letter of explanation, and attached a copy of the amendment form (that they know we already applied for the correction of the DOB on the certificate).
Additionally I attached a copy of the driver's license too, probably not necessary, but I thought it might be helpful they see another official document with the proper name + date of birth combination.
It was accepted without problems.
Good luck!

Does anyone know when Germany schedules interviews?
I'm assuming I'm too late for a March interview with a February 5 case complete?! -
I got my case complete today as well.
Scan date December 11.
I was expecting a checklist, so this is a really nice surprise.
Congrats to everyone else who received a case complete and my fingers are crossed for those still waiting. -
Only her adjusted gross income. If you want you can include an I-864a if your interest income will continue in the USA for a household agi.
Sorry for asking again, but I really don't want to make a mistake on the AOS.
Since my wife only had income through salaries, I am not using the AGI of the 2013 tax return to answer this question:
"My total income (adjusted gross income on IRS form 1040EZ) as reported on my Federal tax returns for the most recent 3 years was:"
But use only her AGI even though the AGI mentioned on the return is the combined.
Do I have to include a statement where I (the beneficiary) declare the interest income is mine and therefore will not be used as the sponsor's AGI of 2013?
Because if I don't include an explanation, how would they know it's my interest and not her's?!
-
This issue is now that you have to include either the entire tax return or at the very least w2s to prove the petitioner's income. Just more work now. Only do the petitioner's income.
So that means I put our combined AGI of 2013 in field 13a and add: Wage & Income Transcript, Tax Return Transcript, Account Transcript, and Record of Account Transcript?
Or should I put only her income according to her W2s in field 13a? With this solution, I would be worried about a RFE though, because the tax return itself does not indicate it is the interest of MY savings, so by just looking at the return, it could be her interest as well.
-
Yes the petitioner's income should be the AGI.
Your income should have been excluded with a form 2555.
Thanks for the reply.
I know that I taxed my interest twice by not using the foreign income exclusion, but I did not read anywhere that I'm required to file for it.
-
I'm preparing the Affidavit of Support at the moment and am unsure what to enter in the fields asking about previous years' income.
I'm the beneficiary, was a full time student in 2013 and not employed.
I had income through interest of my savings though.
I filed taxes jointly (with my wife) that year, after applying for an ITIN and put my income through interest in the tax return as well.
Since we filed the 1040EZ, I am supposed to put the adjusted gross income as her income of 2013 in the AOS, which would also include my (interest) income.
Can that be?I'm just unsure because that would be our combined income and not the income she is qualified to sponsor me with.
Thanks in advance!

Fantastic! Thank you for sharing. I called a few hours ago but they didn't have it yet. I was going to wait until tomorrow morning to call again, but I will give it a shot later now that I know they are definitely working on our date.
Can you fill the DS261 already?
I got mine an hour ago, so I'd try again today, if I was you.

Yeah, great news!!!!
Ours was shipped on Oct. 17th but it wasn´t received yet (NOA2 Oct. 6th). NVC told us yesterday to make a research request per email.
I just called NVC and they told me, that they received our case today.
Since we have the same shipping date, you might want to try again today.

I misunderstood question 22 of form I-130 and put "N/A" in there, instead of the consulate's city and country where I will have my interview.
-> ("If your relative is not eligible for adjustment of status, he or she will apply for a visa abroad in the American consular post in:" )
When I found out about my mistake, I thought they'd either send me a RFE or they would approve my petition (status update "Decision") and then send me a letter asking about my consulate.
Now I got approved yesterday and my status says "Post Decision Activity".
Can I safely assume my mistake didn't play a role and they send it off to the NVC?
Or should I be proactive and inform them about my consulate?
Thanks in advance!

We got approved yesterday
NOA1: 04/16/2014
Service Center: Nebraska
No RFEs, no transfer.
Everyone else good luck and hopefully fast approvals!

I have a question regarding the ITIN application and hope someone here can help me.
We filed taxes in March and at the same time requested an ITIN for me.
Now I received a letter from the IRS, asking me to indicate my date of entry into the United States.
When we filed, I just put "N/A" in there, since I was only entering the US as a tourist with the VWP (combined less than a month in 2013).
I tried to google what to write in there, but all I found was, that you are supposed enter the date when you started residing in the US for a substantial amount of time, which is not applicable to me.
Does anyone have an idea what they want from me?
-
I just got the NOA1 for my stepson. Nebraska again
. The NOA1 date was 04/15.
My wife is currently at the NVC. Her I-130 took 276 days, eventually transferred to Nebraska. I hope it's not another year to NOA2 for my stepson.
Don't you think you could try to expedite it, since (assuming you are the petitioner) they are from the Ukraine?
I think there is a big chance USCIS grants it, considering the political situation in there.
-
We received our NOA1 today (email) and got transferred to Nebraska.
I was hoping for California. T_T
-
I would send them emails you sent each other, cards, Facebook messages, Skype logs, Phone records...
Not necessarily all of this of course, but a selection of what you have.
They want to see that you have an ongoing relationship with her over a period of time. -
Our marriage certificate contains an error.
My wife's birth date is not correct, it says she is born on September 12th instead of September 16th.
Because of this, in my opinion rather big, error we decided to amend the marriage certificate before filing for the visa, just to avoid possible trouble with the USCIS.
I don't know how this procedure is in other states, but we (California) had to have this amendmend form notarized by a notary public and then sent it to Los Angeles.
Los Angeles sent it then to San Francisco, where apparently all the amendmends take place.
We were waiting for about 3 months now (filed in January) and received a reply from them yesterday, saying we have to refile it, because the notary public wrote "for signature, see next page" on a page that is for office use only.
We are a bit on the edge now, because that means we have to wait another 3 months if we want to file for the visa with the corrected certificate.
Does anyone know if it is possible for us, to file for the visa with the incorrect marriage certificate and attach a note, saying that the corrected one is applied for?
Or are we risking a possible denial?
Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you so much, Darnell.

It might be an odd question, but I'm not quite sure how to treat my mother in law's first name change.
She immigrated to the US from Vietnam in 2001 and when she became a citizen, she changed her name from let's say Tuyen-Ha Nguyen to let's say Stephanie Nguyen.
She works in a profession where she has to deal with many non Asian customers and they had trouble pronouncing her name correctly, hence the change.
Now is on our marriage certificate her birth name (Tuyen-Ha) because it explicitly asked for that and not the current name.
My question is, what should I write into the G-325A field that asks for the mother's given name?
I would have written "Stephanie" since "Tuyen-Ha" doesn't exist anymore.
I'm somewhat worried though that this will lead to a denial or RFE if they notice, because Stephanie =/= Tuyen-Ha.
If anybody has been in a similar situation, any input would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Omarov2009,
My check was cashed this morning but no trace of NOA1 yet.
I sent off my package on April 1(Saturday) and it arrived April 3rd(Monday).
It seems like they are finally getting to the early April filers - I'm sure you'll see your check cashed soon!
