  1. Lol. Thanks Boiler! The thing is--we have to convince the whole family that 3 is the best route.

They are quite convinced that #2 is the best route. Help! Anything You can advice us to tell them to convince them on the #3 route? We were suggesting the #3, suddenly the family thinks--we are suggesting the #3 for selfish reasons.

  2. 2 things:

    1) Our niece has an LPR bf, and they are with a 2-year old son.

    2) our niece's mom is a recepient of an F4 petition which will allow her to have her unmarried sons and daughters as derivatives. My niece was included in that petition from back when she was 3 years old--now she is 21+/- old with a child but not married yet.

    To our question:

Which is the fastest and cost-effective or least expense route we should follow, we want our grandson (niece's son) to come with her the soonest as well.

    1) her LPR bf petition her as a fiance as soon as he becomes a US citizen--is that a K1 visa? And petition her together with their son?

    2) maintain as derivative to the F4 petition, and petition her son later.

    3) for her LPR bf to come home and marry her, and petition her as a spouse?

  3. Thanks! Thats a relief.

So lets say, the visa fees aren't paid until documents for submission are ready--for as long as we do it within the year, we are safe then?

We just don't want payments to be put to waste in case the documents are delayed--due to court proceedings--6 months-9 months

  4. My bro-in-law a USC, has petitioned his sister(sis-in-law) and her family in 1985. Now their case has been approved and sent out to NVC.

The problem now is that--the family realized there is a problem with the details in my sis-in-law's birth certificate AND marriage certificate that needs correction--seems to me will need legal proceedings. (Name spelling correction on birth cert and date of birth correction on marriage cert)

So the concern now is--given the immigration reform of 2013 on petitioning siblings--total stop on sibling petitions after the 18mos cut-off, would you suggest that my brother in law pay the Visa fee with NVC--that's $230 x 4 pax (including sis in laws husband and children).

    The questions are:

    1) Should we wait for my sis-in-law to fix her papers before paying? Would it make a difference if we pay now or later?

    2) will my sis-in-law need legal proceedings to correct the details or can a lawyer's affidavit be alright to allow corrections with the NSO?

    3) will the immigration reform take it's toll on my sis-in-laws petition given it's already at NVC?

    4) any advice you can give us on possible problems we have not foreseen yet?

    5) any website to refer to to check on the effectivity dates of the immigration reform and how it can affect my sis-in-law's petition?

    Thank you for your advice!

  5. Well got good news and bad news today....

    Bad News:

Evidentially me and NVC has different terminology. The other day when I called I was told that my AOS and IV was completed and no checklist. I asked so everything completed and told yes. To me means case = complete. Well been scanning my email looking for the case complete letter and finally just gave up and called today. I was told that my case is currently in "review to be completed". Basically after scaring me and me asking for explanations this is my understanding now...

    AOS complete no checklist dancin5hr.gif

    IV complete no checklist dancin5hr.gif

Not all combined in a folder yet "in review to be completed" ranting33va.gif

So I might have to change my case complete date....

    Good news:

I asked when this will happen and told.. mmmmm next week or so

I asked will I get sent out with this batch of interviews... No Jan and Feb interviews are already taken.

When will I get the interview? ... Probably March dancin5hr.gifdancin5hr.gif

When will I get the letter?... mmmm next week or so rofl.gif

I'm still happy... In April (I could not even tell you what year) In Nov (I could not even tell you what month) and now I have a good idea it will be March! (next is to learn what day!)

I can relate to the feeling! March is just around the corner! No sweat! Good luck TimandAna

  6. Annie had her CFO class on the 15th and her embassy interview the next day. Both went smoothly and she was approved. Now waiting for the visa to be shipped. The information on tracking status is VERY useful.

    Thanks!

Wow! Congratulations! Looks like it was smooth sailing with you guys and no 221g's--that's a relief! Your visa should be with you in no time! Good luck!!! xxx

  7. Jane 21 thanks for the reply and congrats on your flight :) :) :)

Red pepper! U were right! I just saw an email and it says 221g. I'm hoping I get it as fast as jane21 did :)

I got my approval 3 days after they received my response to that 221g. Looks like they are pretty quick with easy cases of 221g. Yours is easy--I guess. You should have updates by next week. I kept calling US Embassy and checking on the CEAC website of the Dept of State. Most likely 2-3 days for the review, 7 days more for printing and delivery of visa. :-) Good luck!

  8. CONGRADULATIONS!!!! I'm so excited for you. I hope our day comes soon. Yes, I'm stirring some life back into the place. When you even get off the airplane there tons of people are gathered outside. Complete families waiting on people to land and peaking through the window looking at people in line at customs. I feel like I'm the president when I land. To bad they all aren't there for me.. Haha

    Thanks for the best wishes!

And it was fun to know how it is with you in El Salvador, el Presidente! Hahaha! Good luck to your wife--I'm sure it'll be easy breezy for her. :-) go go go El Salvador!

  9. Congratulations !!!!!!!!! Uauuuuu so happy for you! Good luckkkkkkkkkkk yeyyyyy

Yeeeeeey! Thanks! And that positive feeling goin' on around this thread? I wish for you the same positive results! We all worked hard to be together with our loved ones and...this is it! The gold medal! Yeeehaaaa! And soon all of us here will be found in a different thread--Adjustment of Status and all...just a little more butt-kicking moves! Yeah! xxx

  10. I take that same route when I come home after spending time with my fiancé and its usually not that bad in Detroit or Atlanta. Im glad to see you from the same city im from but im just starting my process so maybe you can help me if I have any questions besides the VJ community. Ill add you as a friend if that's ok...

    Let me know what happens..

Oh sure! Thanks for telling me about Detroit and Atlanta. I don't want to wait at the lay over too long--and you saying that, gives me even a rough idea how much time I will need. I have a few presents from home (clothes only) for family there--and I must be held up longer for that. They check luggage inside out I heard. :-)

  11. I just booked a flight for Annie from Hong Kong to Boston changing planes in Newark. There were two options, 3.5 hour or 8 hour layover. I chose the 3.5 because even if is she gets held up in customs, there is still a later flight. I am really hoping that doesn't happen.

    Best of luck!

Fingers crossed. ;-) a lot didn't seem to have a problem so your 3.5 hours may be good; I'm sure you have been through the same route before and have seen how it was and can guess how long it'll take.

This is going to be my very first big flight since most of my flights are around Asia only. Told my husband I can do it alone. Lol

Now I am sorry I said that, but won't admit it him. I can do this!

I was advised here, also by my husband that it is best to arrive at the POE at dawn--the least busiest time. Just so even if I get held up, there won't be too many immigrants waiting in line.

  12. Lol that's natural. When you are personally involved it does seem like nothing makes sense. Lol

Well, cheer up--you are doing pretty good. My husband simply sent USciS our marriage cert and birth certs...we got approved. Only during my visa interview did i have secondary proof of bona fide relationship...seems strange they asked it from you.

    Nevertheless--i wish you luck! xxx

  13. Yes I will add that to the FAQ thank you.

If anyone has any others that aren't embassy specific just let me know.

    RedPepper hang in there k.

Dwheels!!!!!!! I got approved!!!!!! The visa is to be printed out next week (yes next week, boo-hooo!!!) but it will be delivered to me next week. Not bad!

To date, my 221g was processed within 3 days upon receipt, approved on the third day--visa delivery around one week after approval. 10 days all in all.

Thank you for being there every step of the way, VJ and dwheels and every one. Can't thank you enough!

  14. You all might enjoy this... I curious about some things so I wrote a email to the US Visa service desk. I told them that the website did not clearly split the differences in requirements of documents or procedures between K1 and CR1/IR1 visas also that there was some out dated information on the website sooooo if they had a more updated requirement sheet or information page I would like to have it. They responded.... The requirements for the embassy of El Salvador for all immigrant visas are the same including the medical but may vary case by case and I need to review the packet 4 when I receive it. Also said that they would contact the appropriate people to change the outdated information...

Cute! Looks like your wife is going to stir the embassy a little bit to add some life over there. I can imagine not many cases from El Salvador? Wow! I can already visualize a red carpet and a welcoming band. Finally we get one from El Salvador! Like Sleeping Beauty was just awaken by her Prince! I feel everything is going to turn out very well for your wife's interview. Good luck! My prayers are with you--and all others for your upcoming interview appointments! Woot-woot!

  15. Thank you for the good luck wishes everyone. My iPhone does not allow me to do multi-quotes so i can't thank everyone one by one! So thanking everyone for the love and concern here all at the same time.

And good news, I was on a call with the Immigrant Unit at the Embassy just a few min ago due to the status change on the CEAC website this morning from "Admin Processing" to "Ready." It got me worried---only to find out the Consul approved my visa! To be released by tuesday or wednesday next week and sent to me via our local courier! Yehey! I am sooooo happy I can kiss you all!!!! Hahahaha! Not so bad with my 221g--took only a few days--not the 3 weeks I was expecting. Whew! I can breathe now!

Now my turn to share all the overflowing positive energy there is to share to all of you in this thread and all good VJ members! (((((Resonating!))))) Good luck!!! May all odds be forever in your favor! Wink wink!

  16. hi! the UID number is found at the top of the bar code in your interview confirmation letter. in my case, both the mnl case number and passport number did not work. good luck!

Noted! Thanks--checking my UiD now. Lol

  17. three hours is plenty of time

3 hours...hmmm considering what Firesp33d adviced and yours--maybe 3 hours maybe good for as long as my arrival time is less crowded. Time to research on Detroit Airport specifics then. :-)

Thanks for taking the time to respond! Very helpful! I now have an idea how it is going to be on average. :-)

  18. Hey RedPepper, glad to hear you were recently approved. Based on my dads experience and a friend of mines, it depends. My dads wife took about 5 hours, the flight arrived at 1:30PM (peak hour) from Nicaragua and his wife was out at close to 5PM. On the other hand my friends wife only took 1 hour as it was only 5:30AM. It really depends on the airport and time of arrival. Hope that helps. BTW my wife was approved also, :)

Hey! I have been meaning to message you! Glad she got approved! I was beginning to wonder. Congratulations!

So you are saying it depends on how busy the airport is and what time. Hmmm that's a good thing to consider. I'd keep that in mind!
