In short, I don't currently reside "permanently" anywhere and it will be that way for the foreseeable future. We work remotely (for a foreign company) and will be traveling from place to place. In fact, I'm traveling to Russia next week to meet her family for the first time!

Depending on where you interview, they might not believe you (the USC) intend to re-establish domicile. So, make sure you either a) move back to the States before your wife interviews or b) set up a lease agreement/ housing to show you intend to move back to the States.

I was in the same situation as @DK999 and this is exactly what I had to. The embassy initially rejected my wife's application because my principal domicile was not in the US.  I needed to submit a document detailing a 6-month plan (month-by-month) on how I would return to the US, and also sign a lease in the US to show I would go back there. I worked remotely for a US company at the time, so I also asked them to provide a letter saying that they needed me back in the US to work.

So sorry to hear about RFE - it's always frustrating, especially after such a long wait... At the same time it means someone "alive" finally got to your case and it's been touched.

It's been a while since the original submission, so they just want an updated info.

I'd send the same stuff you' ve already nailed iin , just  since June 2017. If you got something else - great, then nclude it as well.

P.S. You are not" required" to have kids for I-751 approval :) so no worries :)

It should not take a long time to hear back after RFE response submission. Just send it as soon as you can.

Good luck to you and hope you have your approval soon!

Just wanted to follow up that we got notices this week that our case status is approved and green card is being made!

Did they ask for anything specific ???

They said it was insufficient because "Sufficient financial records showing joint ownership of assets and joint responsibility for liabilities for the duration of the conditional residency period, including ...etc etc... were not submitted."

However, we did have joint savings, our joint car loan, and our joint lease included in the original submission among many other things, so I'm not sure why it was deemed insufficient.  Luckily we have more loans and savings since mid-2017 that we can submit, along with more utility bills and stuff in both of our names, plus a new life insurance policy and retirement account, and of course new taxes.  I hope that's enough, otherwise not sure what we can do!

Thanks, we plan to submit at the beginning of November when we have all the new paperwork together.  Is the RFE somewhat common? We were a bit panicked when we got it

  4. So, after waiting over 480 days, we finally got a response from USCIS - they are Requesting Further Evidence, which must be received by mid-December.  This really took us by surprise since our case seems super easy: we've lived together for over 11 years (outside of the US most of the time), and have been married and living together in the US for about 4 years now.  For the initial green card in 2015, they didn't even require us to interview.  We submitted practically everything we had, so not sure what else they need to see.  We do NOT have kids, which I wonder if that is why we got the RFE?  There's not much we can do about that though before December :)

Anyway, how concerned should we be about this RFE?  Obviously our finances have changed a bit in 480 days, so there is a bit more we can submit, but I'm concerned if it's still not enough.
