No, worse, he was a WHITE GUY, didn't you see his post? Of course it has nothing to do with gentrification driving up property values and therefore property taxes and potentially driving people out of their homes....

I very honestly think that it's the fact that he was treating 'buying properties' likea 9-5 job. He was there 5 days a week, renovating houses and driving up property values by gentrifying one property at a time. There tends to be a lot of pushback in marginalized communities against gentrification because it makes property taxes unaffordable for people whose families managed to buy a house decades ago.

Obviously your experience is different than mine. If you conducted yourself the way you come across here in these forums then I can see why they would look down on you.
I grew up in a neighborhood right next to the West Dallas Housing projects. I went five years to schools located right in the middle of the black section of the projects. I had to walk through the housing projects every school day. I never had any problems with the students, teachers or residents of the housing projects.

3.75 in 1985 dollars would be 8.29 in today's dollars. The minimum wage now is less than 8/hr. To have the same buying power as what you were making at 9.25, a student working today would have to be making 20.44/hr.

The thing that these math equations always conveniently leave out is that when a majority of businesses increase wages in a region, the residents have more money and they therefore can make more money with a minimal price increase (often the price increase is a matter of a couple of pennies). In many more cases, a significant price increase is, much more accurately, a matter of corporate greed than a matter of necessity.

Washington was just a Dreamer, whose parents brought him to another culture's land and set up their little enclaves of Englishness.

I know homos in Dallas, Corpus Cristi and a good friend of mine used to go to a Catholic Church that did all homosexual services in Houston. The gays are there, you're just scaring them off.

The US economy has never been a closed system. The US does not produce most of the goods sold within the US. The US does not produce all or even 3/4 of the food sold within the US at this point--look in your grocery store sometime. Many people who are in the 1% are not US-born but came to the US because of how many tax shelter options they have by being here.
The US economy is entirely dependent on other countries. The biggest things that have eroded the US economy is 1) tax loopholes for the very wealthy, 2) sending manufacturing jobs overseas and 3) sending phone and internet customer service jobs overseas.
Abruptly cut off US trade with all other nations for a year and see how 'closed' the system is then. The economy would destabilize and crumble within a month.

I've been out for a bit so I haven't really been able to comment on this event like I wanted to, so here goes.
This is a landmark decision that us Americans see far too little of here in the United States. Its such a massive and positive stroke for the rights of American's wanting to pursue their happiness. I'm very excited for my homosexual friends and family. You now have the right to pursue your heart's desire just like any other couple. A friend of mine in college came out to me and a few others and it was a changing experience. I kept thinking about how they had to feel ashamed or hide their feelings for someone they love. Falling in love is one of the best human experiences and nothing should keep consenting adults from pursuing that love on any level. So congrats to all of you that have seen the surge in anti-homosexual amendments/laws/propaganda within the last decade. This is a great example that things and people can and will change. If you'd have asked me in 2005 if this could ever be a possibility for the entire country, I would have thought not in my lifetime. But things have changed so quickly. This was not just a one off decision, this was an inevitable decision strengthened by the ever growing support of marriage equality on a level that still completely surprises and inspires me. America is a better example of what it strives to be for this decision. Liberty and justice for ALL!! Congrats again to all, you deserve this, and know that many of us stand no longer behind you but beside you as brothers and sisters.

He doesn't have to. He just has to take away OTHER people's enjoyment of guns for sex. Who cares about those other men. If they were REAL men, they'd go out hunting and stop just watching it on tv. Duh.

Rumour has it that the reason for it being given the boot (along with several other hunting and angling shows) is that the wife or girlfriend of one of the bigwigs at Shaw told him to. Men will do truly stupid things to keep their steady supply of sex, huh?
