  1. Can anyone share the reason they gave when asking for an earlier interview date? I simply was honest and told them I was hoping to be reunited with my wife as soon as possible after a long and very difficult time living apart during our visa application process. Even though I'm 'ready' to be interviewed now after having my medical I guess they just didn't think my reason for wanting a sooner interview was valid.

I suppose I'm just a little shocked as so far I've only seen people here reporting success in getting their dates moved. Do you think this is something I can try asking for again after a while or is that the end of it? In order for the date to be changed do you need to have a valid reason? Is simply wanting to be with your spouse as soon as possible not a good enough reason?

I gave a similar reason but was turned down too. I wanted to be honest and not come up with a reason just to get an earlier date. I think it's based purely on luck (or the time you request) as an earlier date usually means someone else cancelled and can't make that date. So I think if you happen to ask at the time there is a cancellation, they can immediately give you that vacant slot. Perhaps eastyo11 was lucky with his timing.

I guess you can keep asking at regular intervals and hope for the best. My interview is Sept, 11 so for me, I've waited more than a year - another month won't kill me. But that's just me :)

    All the best!

  2. Hi all,

We are coming up on our interview and getting our documents together. How are people presenting their documents in the interview? We were just going to put the required important docs loose in a manilla folder.

    Any thoughts.

    Many thanks.

I guess it depends on how much documentation you have. I got a big expandable folder, but realize I don't have much documentation so it seems pretty empty now. I considering doing what you're doing as well. Just dump them all in the manila folder. Seems from the threads that they're not asking for a lot of pictures, telephone bills. chat logs and all that.

  3. hi guyz,

You can go here : https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/

Click on Check My Visa Application Status under IMMIGRANT, Put in your case number and select visa application type:IMMIGRANT VISA (IV) and hit SUBMIT. You will see a pop-up message telling you if your visa is ready, in transit, etc.

  4. Just got home from my interview and my visa is APPROVED!!!!!!!!! Finally!! Thank you to the vj community!! Now unto waiting for my visa the american consul who interviewed me didnt mention anything about the delay so i didnt bother asking coz i dont want to ruin the moment! But anyways i can now sleep peacefully coz my immigration journey is almost over! Thank you god! Goodluck and congrats in advance everyone.

    Congratulations Giona! Sleep tight :)

  5. Thank you !!!!! ❤️

:D (my smile when I read the part about being in my arms soon.). Lol

The CO thing though, for some strange reason I am recalling ppl posting that their interviews were cake at the beginning part of the month but during the middle and end of the month, all grumpy, Doubting Thomas-type COs. Maybe it was just those times of the month when I actually read the posts. I dont think that info is correct at all.

Anyway, positivity is the path. :).

They probably just got paid so they're still happy! By the end of the month, their pockets are empty and that wipes the smile off their faces too! :D

  6. It wouldn't hurt to try... Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained as they say.

Who knows. Maybe the person responsible is off holidaying and forgot to alert coworkers to send the schedule.

Arghh... sometimes even when we venture, nothing is gained! They told me citizen and immigrant services are only up to 11 am. Need to call back on Monday. I bet you're right and they're just holidaying after having forgotten to send the schedule. They were off Monday and Tuesday for Eid and Friday is long lunch for prayers. I guess I'll have to wait for Monday!

  7. I would contact both embassies and verify they sent their September schedules to NVC. Meanwhile, I would ask for a supervisor to enquire about the scheduling delay.

Someone mentioned that an embassy in Pakistan, I believe, cancelled Aug 1-8 appointments, so that could be a factor for some of the delayed scheduling.

    Thanks MoBar65!

I never thought of contacting the embassy to ask if they sent their schedules. I was one-track minded in thinking i could only call embassy after they received our packages!

Thanks for the idea! I'm calling them right now!

  8. It is almost the same! I go to https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/

And click on "Check my Visa Application Status" (https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?eQs=o/iS8zDpeAKjMWCuebHqOw==)

Enter Case Number, the one starting the the three letters. I can't remember what it says before the case has been submitted to the consulate for interview, but the status of the visa application may go from IN TRANSIT (to consulate), to READY (for interview), to ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSING (after interview), to ISSUED (visa printed on passport). In my case, the "date status changed" was almost as important as the actual status, because the dates were updated, but the status weren't (remained Ready).

Thanks guys! I checked there and all it says is "AT NVC" I guess it's gonna take some time before there's any change, but thanks! At least I know I"m looking at the correct site!

  9. Welcome to the group. I have added you to spread sheet. Hopefully next week good news will be coming to those in queue waiting for interviews.

And we aren't that type of group and fuss over questions asked a million times (need I count how many times the "how do I track my case-file to embassy). LOL

You are welcomed and have some fun and mingle we are a blessed fun group of peeps here.

Thank you for the welcome dwheels76 :)

  10. 1. Yes you can call if you want but you will also know by email. Check on the CEAC website and it should say where your file is.

    2. Yes, mine took a week to come by email.

    3. Interviews are usually scheduled mid and end of month, I got case complete June 25 and got email on July 11.

    Hope this helps!

Thanks R<3S, yes that helps. I checked on CEAC and is says it's still at NVC, so I guess they've gotten attached to my documents :) Thanks for your reply!

To answer your first question, NVC will only send your docs to consulate after you receive email of case complete ( couple of days in my case)

you will have to call to find out if they sent it, also have to call consulate if they received it ( received a week after in my case )

I really don't have an answer for the rest of your questions, it really depends by case.

    good luck

Thank you ben2fat. I guess I have a few more days to go till I receive the email of case complete. I will make those calls, thank you!

  11. Hi guys... I'm new here and I will admit I have not read all 97 pages of this thread but I did read the last 20 pages or so. I have a few questions and I hope it's not one of those questions that get everyone worked up because it's been asked a million times, but here goes:

    1. How do we know if NVC has sent out our documents to the consulate? Or do we know at all? Call?

    2. Does it still take a week from case complete to receive the email of case complete?

    3. Are interviews still being scheduled mid and end of the month? If my case was completed 17th July, what would be a guesstimate of when my interview will be scheduled?

Thank you for being patient with me :)

  12. I'm so sorry for your situation, but the priority here should be getting her help, as mentioned by others. This process is long, tiring, emotionally draining, and downright depressing, and that's just for the regular folk. If she's not mentally fit to handle day to day stressors, this is going to be way too much for her to handle. If she won't move with you 3.5 hours away, or to China, would she be willing to move with you all the way to the US?

  13. Gave up running long time ago. a) it's too hard on my middle-aged joints, b) it hovers around 120 degree for the entire summer here, and c) traffic around here treats pedestrians/joggers/cyclists worse than Soloenta treats bugs lately. Besides, all the above allow me to string readily available and malleable excuses to no end. Managed an entire decade without exercising this way. That's why I switched to home fitness HIIT videos.

I see you're a June 6 scanner. Hopefully today (Friday) is your day.

At this point I think any movement is exercise :) All i want to do lately is bury my face in my pillow and cry! But you guys really crack me up... Soloenta especially. So it makes this all just a tiny bit more bearable. Yup I'm a June 6 filer. Been checking CEAC every few minutes. AOS still says PAID though :( I'm hoping I get an early interview since Malaysian consulate is quite low volume.
