Its been 2 weeks that I have applied for a new SSN number and when I submitted the docs they said you will get it in a weeks time.

I have entered US a month back and what they asked me specifically was that if I had raw food items like rice, meat etc.

Thanks Guys so to summaries once I have my conditional green card as my marriage is not 2 years old during the approval of I-485 the same can be used for traveling outside US and no need for a AP?

Thanks for all your suggestions, correct me if I am wrong but the Green Card is issues once the conditions is lifted which could take time (about a year or so approx) or would I get my green card after the AOS is processed and the same can be used to travel outside US?

The reason I am asking is that we are planning to travel to India later this year and get married there also.

I am in the US got married and will be starting my paperwork for AOS/EAD and AP but the question is that instead of applying for a AP can I wait and get my Green Card (conditional) and apply for a US passport to travel on a short trip back home?

Is that possible or do I have to apply for a AP.

Any suggestion would be helpful.

Get your PCC and the medical reports post this you can go on ustraveldocs.com make the payment and schedule the interview..........it is not compulsory to have the medical 4-7 days before interview.

You can try for a K1 but she moving to India would be a better option

I had my interview on 16th Dec and was approved, would like to thank all of you for your support.

It was at the Mumbai office and below is my experience

Walked in at 8 got in the consulate and there is a big lawn where people are waiting to get in there was a person waiting he saw that I was a K1 applicant and he spoke on the walkie talkie and informed someone inside that there was a K1 visa applicant and asked me to walk in so I went in to a counter where I got a token number and was asked to sit then my number flashed and I went to a counter where a India guy greeted me and asked for all the documents as below.

Original Passport

DS160 Stamped during bio metric

I134 and the supporting docs

Copy of My Birth Certificate and copy of translation

PCC

Medical Reports

He then asked me a few questions like my father’s maiden name surname, mother’s maiden name and then he asked me to keep my proof of relationship ready for the interview and all other docs were ready with them.

Then I waited for about an hour before my number again flashed, I got up took a deep breath and walked over to the window and there was a lady in the mid 50’s, she greeted me and so did I….She asked me to swear that all information provided is correct to best of my knowledge……Then started the interview

How did you meet your fiancé? - Answered in detail

How do you keep in touch? - Shared my Skype screenshots

What time of the day do you typically speak? – Answered

What’s the plan for marriage?

Will you Parents travel for the wedding?

What religion do you practice?

What religion does she practice?

She asked for the photos

When did she last traveled here? – My Birthday this year

What did you do for her birthday and what’s her birth date?

She asked a few questions about the people in the photos

How do your parents find her?

It went on for about 10 minutes and finally the magic words came out that the Visa is APPROVED and I was excited, what a feeling…I rushed home and called my Fiancé and woke her in the middle of the night and she was excited, also called my parent who were out of town who were also excited.

My passport id ready for pick up and will do that tomorrow!

Thanks, but what i read is that Beneficiaries submitting new cases that arrive at the NVC from USCIS on or after September 1, 2013 will be instructed to complete the DS-260 and DS-261.....My case is before September 1, 2013 so do i need to fill DS260?

NVC Case no - I have 2 case number starting with EAC and BMB, which one has to be used here?

My invoice ID number - what do i use here.

Just one more question, we did get engaged in Aug-12 but unfortunately we do not have any pics to prove that but she will be travelling down to Mumbai in Jan-14 and we will have the engagement with the family there but the problem is my visa interview may be scheduled before that so will this be a red flag or something for the interview?

Wow great, I will make the payment in a day or so but I want a date for say Mid Dec-13 as I have a wedding to attend where I may have to travel, can that be done cause it is almost a month after making payment

Although my petition will expire like end of Dec-13 so mid Dec-13 will be a few weeks before the expiry, thoughts?

The Mumbai consulate office has received my documents, I have also created my profile on UStraveldocs.com and I will be making the payment soon and process further.

The question is that there is an option that says schedule your interview does that mean I can chose the date of my choice or the consulate will give me the date?
