Oh no - absolutely nothing that dramatic. No, all it means is that you need proof to show your status for work or when leaving/entering the country. Your status hasn't expired and won't, even if you don't get the I551 stamp. The stamp is just another form of proof - like a continuation of the letter or green card that now have expiration dates on them. You're totally 100% fine

If you plan on leaving the country or working, make an InfoPass appointment at your local USCIS office. It's quick and easy to make online. They only schedule out two weeks at a time so depending on the office, it might takes a few times to secure an appointment. The rumor is that appointments are posted online around midnight and 2:00am. Once you have an appointment, bring your green card and other documents and you'll receive a stamp for either 6 months or 1 year.
 
Most importantly, your status hasn't expired. You just need the stamp to prove you can live, work, and re-enter the US.

FINALLY!! I got the magic "ISSUED" today!! It took 29 days since interview approved!!
And 8/21 is my original interview date, I think they make some mistake so I can't get issued until original interview date. ANYWAY! I'm so happy!!! Good luck to all.

Congrats to all the visa in hand!! ...................keep counting the days. Looks like only my embassy still had problem to print the visa...
