My wife received applied for her first U.S. passport last month. She finally received a letter asking for her foreign birth certificate because "the place of birth on your current passport application is inconsistent with your country of former nationality as provided on your Certificate of Naturalization". Sure, she's lived in more than 1 country before immigrating here. Has anyone received a letter like this? They really shouldn't need that since everything was verified when she applied for citizenship. We called the National Passport Information Center to ask about it and they said that our mail was damaged. They said that it arrived in one of those plastic USPS "We Care" bags. They're non-secure, clear plastic bags. Anyway, if the certificate is damaged or they lost it, is there any way that we can get USPS to pay for the cost of replacing it? Thanks!

Had the interview this morning and passed! I thought that originals of everything that was submitted with the case would be needed so they were brought to the interview. After all, that's what it said to do on the letter. The IO didn't even look at them, didn't look at the marriage license, either. It was just the Green Card that was needed. The interview only took about 20 mins. Now, we wait for letter of when the oath ceremony will be.😌

My field office is Omaha, Ne, too. Do you have an online account with USCIS so you can login and check your status? I filed online. A week later, they sent me an email saying that they've taken "an action on your case and it needs your attention". It basically said that the biometrics has been scheduled, but the letter with the details about it doesn't show up online until a few days later. I think it was about 10 days before I found out about when the biometrics appointment was. Maybe you'll get your letter by the end of the week.

We filed very late last Sat. night for my wife. I updated the spreadsheet. We included bank an credit card statements as well as 3 years' worth of IRS tax transcripts. I didn't even think about copies of plane tickets. I hope that's sufficient evidence. I'm sure that the NOA-1 will come in the mail by the end of the week. Does anyone know if both of us will need to be interviewed? Thanks.

I'm working on the N-400 application for my wife who was the immigrant. We decided to change the spelling of her first name (by only 1 letter) and completely change the middle name. Both changes are reflected on her 10-yr. Green Card and driver's license. Will this cause a problem when we go to upload a copy of our marriage license and Green Card? Thanks!

Our Green Card is finally here! It arrived on Fri., April 6th and came in a small USPS Priority Mail envelope. The card says resident since 3/31/18 which must be the approval date. What a very long journey it has been! We'll apply for N-400 very soon. Good luck to the rest of you still waiting.

Yesterday, I saw a message dated March 31st saying "we are producing your card and will mail it to you". Then, today, I get the following message saying "APPROVED"! That's funny. They said that they're producing the card BEFORE the approval came.

Did you send in a photocopy of the expired GC along with a copy of the passport stamp, if you have one? I'm thinking of applying for the N-400, too. I just don't know if they'd accept a copy of the expired GC.

Today I had appointment to get my stamp, which went well, officer gave me one year without any questions. I asked her to check if she is able to see anything regarding my case, since tomorrow will be precisely 365 days since my NOA1. She looked at it and said that she doesn't see any updates and it is within "normal" processing time. I asked her to clarify what is normal, she said well right now Vermont looking at August 15th so you are about 2 month away from hearing anything back.... I politely asked if she is sure that is is current processing dates and not as of July 31(which it obviously is) and she with straight face said she is sure about it. (wow, just wow....)

Also she did say that all 751 will go thru the interview now, however she is not sure if it is applicable only to a new applicants of for the people who wait now as well (so basically she doesn't know nothing).

To summarize, ladies and gentleman, don't let them confuse you, as they don't know absolutely nothing and will tell you any nonsense so that you leave them alone...(same applies to Tier 1 and Tier 2 call center)

We finally have an appointment. What did you need to bring to get your stamp? Do we just need to bring our NOA1 and foreign passport?

I don't think that it will. The President's immigration ban bars all people living in Iraq, Syria, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen from entering the United States. So, since this forum is about people wanting to remove conditions on their Green Card, if you're already living in the U.S. and have your application in process, it won't affect you. That's what it sounds like to me anyway.

I finally sent in my I-751 along with a ton of papers and some photos on Tues., Oct. 11th. They received it Friday, the 14th. I checked my bank account and noticed that my check was cashed today. They certainly don't waste much time cashing it! When people get their NOA1, does it usually say that the Green Card has been extended for 1 year while they process the application?

That's all helpful. I was also wondering, is it OK if I blocked out the account numbers (or part of them) on the bank statements?

I'm trying to collect evidence to file my I-751 for my wife. From what I read, you can send in copies of joint savings and checking accounts. Also, joint utility bills can be used. How far back do I have to go with the bank statements and utility bills? If I just sent in copies of statements from the past 6 months or so and the last 2 years for the bills, is that considered sufficient? Thanks!

I read the instructions for filing the I-751 on the USCIS's website. It says that you can submit 2 affidavits as evidence. Does anyone have an example of what an affidavit should look like? Maybe I can submit this evidence instead of a transcript of my tax returns for last year since I'm not able to get them yet. (I had to file an extension.) Also, is it necessary to include a cover letter? I read that some people sent one. Thanks!

I also received a letter that said:

"This morning (December 08,2014) I got an e-mail saying that our Status changed to Card Production on December 06/2014. I am so excited and relieved."

Later, I received an email saying:

"Your Case Status: Decision

On December 8, 2014, we registered your permanent resident status and mailed you a Welcome Notice for Receipt Number MSCXXXXXXXXXX. Please follow the instructions in the notice. Your new permanent resident card should arrive by February 6, 2015, after this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

During this step the formal decision (approved/denied) is written and the decision notice is mailed and/or emailed to the applicant/petitioner. You can use our current processing time to gauge when you can expect to receive a final decision."

Does anyone know what this welcome notice or ADIT processing is? I really thought that after seeing the message indicating the status had changed to "Card Production / Ordered", I'd get the green card by the end of the week. Now, I'm not so sure.

It's frustrating, but things are moving for some, so I guess it's a matter of remaining calm and patient... UGH! (not so calm and patient anymore!)

I'm also in the same boat as you. I received the waiver letter in June which said that it could be up to another 6 months (which is December - getting pretty close!).
