We received a letter for my spouse to have a biometrics appointment. Do they ask any questions there or is it just to get fingerprints? If not, would they schedule an interview while we are there or does a letter come in the mail with the interview date? Thanks!

My immigrant wife will be changing her last name on the I-485 and I-325A forms. Can she also change her middle name or is that not allowed? Thanks!
-
I'm in the process of filling out this I-864 form to be included with my I-485. When I get to part 5 and try to enter 1 in for myself, I'm unable to (Foxit Reader won't let me). I thought that I was supposed to enter 1 for myself. I already have entered 1 in for the first question for my wife who I'm sponsoring. This would make my household size of 2 (for ques. 8). Does anyone know what I'm supposed to do here?
I read that I need to send "A copy of your complete Federal income tax return, as filed with the Internal Revenue Service, for the last year". I assume that it's OK to send a transcript of 2012 since I haven't filed my taxes yet for last year, right? Stupid question, I know.
Thanks!

When I fill out the I-485 for my wife's green card, can I write her new married name on it? Thanks!

It is all quite modern and similar to an airport security check. They will keep a bin of his/her things behind a counter until returning. Have her get an early start as it is not an especially easy address. We took two buses and walked a quarter mile, got lost once between buses. A taxi would have been better but you know how the women can be about those things.
Thank you so much!

This is what is says on the US embassy Kiev website, but maybe it's different in actuality:
The following items are not allowed inside the Consular Section:
- Bags or purses, except diaper bags and wallets
- Backpacks
- Cell phones
- Suitcases
- Weapons
- Electronics such as notebooks, iPods, PDAs, etc.
- Cameras
- Cosmetics
- Food and drinks
- Liquids
- Documents in non-transparent folders. Only transparent thin folders are allowed
- Medication (pills, sprays, syringes, etc.)
I just had wondered about anyone's personal experience. Are people able to leave their bags with security and pick them up when they leave?

Is it OK for my fiance' to bring her purse and cell phone to her interview in Kiev? Will they store these things for her or not? Thanks!

Anyone? Help, please!

My fiance' filled out the DS-160 form online and was given a confirmation number. When I check the status on ceac.state.gov, it says: "No Status". Isn't it supposed to say "Ready"? She already had her medical done. Her interview is next week!
-
You can retrieve your application and then click "start new application". The new one will contain all the answers you originally put so you can edit out the ones you think are wrong. It wont affect your DS-160, the only difference is you will be given a new confirnation number/barcode that you have to print out.
My fiance' did this and has a new confirmation number now. When I check the status on ceac.state.gov, it says: "No Status". Isn't it supposed to say "Ready"? She already had her medical done. Her interview is next week!

My fiance' filled out the DS-160 and submitted it last Sunday, but there were a couple of errors made on it. 1. The incorrect NVC case # was entered, 2. Her full name did not include her middle name. Will her application be denied, asking for corrections? If not, will these cause problems when she goes in for her interview which is already scheduled?
-
Our interview is Oct. 28th!!! Can't wait!

My fiance' doesn't have the packet 3 yet, but should be getting it soon. Can she schedule her medical exam or does she need to wait for this packet or interview to be scheduled? Thanks!
-
I assume that you mean to use the following link:
https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx
I can select Nonimmigrant Visa (NIV), select "Ukraine", enter in my case #, but it says: "Invalid Application ID or Case Number.". If I select Immigrant Visa (IV), that doesn't work, either.
Yep just click on the immigrant visa application and type in the KEV number

What is the address of the website that you visited to check this?
Good day mam/sir! Godbless

I am waiting just like you guys are. I assume that my case has been received at the embassy in Kiev now, but how do I check? Where do you go on the CEAC website? Do I only need the NVC case number to check? Thanks.
Now the CEAC shows the docs are in KIEV. I still haven't recieved any notice.
She's going to call the consulate in the morning and schedule the interview.

Can someone tell me how I find out if my case has been received by the embassy? I contacted NVC last week. They gave me a case # and said that it was sent to the embassy last Thursday. Do I need to contact NVC again? Thanks!

I was approved on Aug. 19th. It looks like I'm in the same boat as everyone else here.
I was approved on August 21st and have not received my case number, I've called NVC each week since my approval date and they tell me 8 weeks. There is a backlog at the CSC where both of our files went and were approved very quickly. I guess they were just pumping them out too fast for NVC to catch up. So don't worry, just wait
Sorry I cannot give better news... hoping things will go faster than 8 weeks but if not, again, don't worry. Looks like our packets will be traveling in the same 'batch' and possibly our interviews will also be close in date
-
Mine says that it'll be forwarded to the listed consulate, too. If you call NVC, they'll tell you that it gets sent to them first. Then they will forward it to the embassy.
I just received the same letter today? have you called or checked because from what i know, it has to go through the NVC but mine said it will be forwarded to the consulte.

I'm still waiting for NVC to get my case. It's been over 3 weeks now. From what I've seen on here, people wait at least a month for them to get it. Do I really need all of those items? I can get another certified copy of my birth certificate. Would I need to mail it to her for her interview or is scanning it in as a PDF and emailing that acceptable? Thanks!
Okay, so lets see if I got everything I need:
- I-134 signed.
- Copy of my 2012 W2 from my employer
- Printed the PDF version of my 2012 Tax Return
- Letter from my employer stating salary and start date (also on paystubs)
- Last 2 paystubs (I can scan and send him copies to print up to the date of his interview)
- Certified original of my Birth Certificate.
- Certified copy of of my Divorce Decree.
- (2) copies of the DS-156 filled out & unsigned.
- (1) copy of the DS-157 filled out & unsigned.
- (1) copy of the DS-156K filled out & unsigned.
- (1) copy of the DS-260 filled out & unsigned.
- (2) of his passport pictures printed out on glossy photo paper (I have the digital copies of his)
- (1) copy of our entire I-129F with all new (and original) signatures on everything.
- Call logs printed right from my cell phone. It shows several calls at the beginning, middle & end of every month since I returned from my visit in Argentina
- Screen shots of our skype conversations.
- Text log printed from my cell phone, there's not a lot there but it's something.
- Proof of engagement: Does a screen shot of my FB announcement count? He doesn't have a receipt for my ring, I could take a picture of it on me?
Am I missing anything? I don't have any new pictures of us together, I was there in January, applied in April and it's only September. (so not complaining)

I called the same number and it goes straight to busy as well. I have been trying a couple of days actually. Does anyone know how else we can contact them?
That's the number that I have been using. I've found that if you call during the daytime, you'll get a busy signal. When I call late at night, like an hour or two before they close, then the call goes through. They close at midnight Eastern. Be prepared to wait some time for a live person to take the call.

We received the same letter this week. They must be really backed up for us to have to wait an additional 6 months! Hopefully, it won't be that long.
