  1. Employment contracts can be cancelled or abandoned in Dubai with a consequence of visa issues later on.  The lease in Dubai can be taken over as a "sublease" by a friend or acquaintance.  In the end she has no ties to Dubai.

She needs to show all of the usual strong ties to the Philippines because that is her home country.

  2. Hi all,

My wife is waiting for the letter to appear for the USC oath before the judge.  Almost there woohoo!  I still read the topics here every weekday and have since 2013.

My question today is for her cousin (the husband).  I am walking them through the process, but they have a possible complication.

    1.  Cousin is a Philippine citizen and wife is USC

    2.  Married in Philippines, USC wife stayed there to live and had kids there.  Kids registered as Philippine citizens because they were living there.

    3.  USC wife has returned to US to gain domicile to start the immigration process.

I understand that A U.S. citizen's unmarried, minor child is considered an immediate relative, does not need a visa number, and is eligible to receive an immigrant visa immediately.  My question is....is the fact that the children were listed as Philippine citizens on their birth certificates going to cause an issue?  Will  the children need I-130 applications along with the father?

    Thanks guys

  3. No, those people are wrong....but if you wait too long to near the expiration of the I-94 visa then they'll have to wait for the CG.

After you are married up to two weeks before your I-94 expiration you are able to change your name on your SSN. If you miss that deadline you do not need your AOS (GC) to be completed. You can use the combination of your marriage license and your EAD (usually received before GC during the AOS process) to change the last name on your SSN to your married name. Sometimes an EAD is approved and delivered months before your GC as is the case with my wife. She is not yet approved for her GC but received her EAD and new SSN over a month ago.

  4. congrats!!!!!! our interview is this friday!!!! hoping to get the same news. what kind of questions did they ask u????!

Thank you so much! Most of the questions they asked were very basic.

    How you met

    How you communicate

Your actual meeting and time together

Questions about my (Petitioner) family. history, previous marriage, kids, their names, etc

Details about interaction with each others' family. How was the quality of the interaction....do each approve

The one question that threw her off was when he asked about my college education. She could not remember the university I graduated from. Seemed like an odd question but probably just trying to gage the depth of our knowledge of each other.

Study the reviews of the embassy you will interview at. There is a review section here on VJ.

We had a "study" weekend where I was asking her questions about us. I created my own but also used previous reviews here on VJ from our embassy as guidance

Just relax and be yourself. Be confident and friendly but not arrogant. Just like a job interview they want to read you along with your answers to the questions.

Good luck to you. Hope to see your success here on Friday dancin5hr.gif

Thank you so much! Unfortunately work requires a month notice and I would prefer to have the visa in hand before giving notice. Better to be safe than sorry lol. The wait is long but in the end the wait is worth the rewarddancin5hr.gif We are working on flights near the end of January. Maybe around the 24th.

Can I ask, Which DS forms did you submit to the Embassy?

I'll be having my Interview this coming December 9, 2013. I already prepared DS-230, DS-156, DS-156K and DS-157 as what i got from the Packet 3-4 Instructions. But as per the new rule from October 7 all K1 applicant should fill-out the DS-160 form only.

Please kindly let me know what did they require for DS forms and other things...Just wanted to make sure i am on the right track.

    thanks and best regards.

  10. hi, I'm also working in Dubai. As far as i know, base from a company has a limited slots for the position or there's only a number when they applied for the trade license or business. For example a company has only 10 slots or number for nurse in the application form but they need more, then they will fill the available slots with the other positions such as receptionist, clerk, asst. admin etc. so the job description/title or position is different from the visa.

I think that's what happened to you...you are actually nurse but in your visa you are receptionist.

I know someone same as your situation...She is accountant but her visa is archive clerk.

I will suggest better get an employment Certificate from your company stating that you are actually nurse not receptionist.....

Hope it will help...Just be positive everything will be ok. Good luck and God bless!

  11. As from the NVC or DOS for K1 you dont have to fill out the DS 260....It must be DS 160..this is the new updates

    Show All | Hide All

Effective immediately, all K visa applicants are required to complete the DS-160 Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application. The DS-160 replaces forms DS-156, DS-156K, and DS-230.

For K visa cases already in process at a U.S. embassy or consulate, the DS-160 is not required when, prior to October 7, 2013, one of the following situations exist:
    • The K visa applicant is already scheduled for an interview.
    • The K visa applicant has already been interviewed and has been requested to submit additional documentation or is pending administrative processing.
    • The K visa applicant has already submitted a valid, signed, unexpired DS-156, DS-156K and/or DS-230 or received instructions to do so.

Please read the instruction from NVC sent to you or the package 3 and 4.

And Here's the link for the steps from applying I129f to K1 visa:

Hope this will help you guys.
