the other day I received a false checklist, and after few calls to NVC, they just said to disregard it, the status is still the same " wait up to 30 days blah blah blah". Nonetheless, one positive thing happened yesterday when I called them, I was able to talk to an agent right away, didn't wait for 20-30 minutes as usual.
Anybody else here that got a false checklist but was approved shortly after receiving it?????? Any upgrade at all after the checklist????
Is there someone at NVC that could give me more information besides the agent that just picks up the phone and looks at the computer screen????

hopefully they will finish it this week before thx-giving, and schedule the interview in January
, I am tired of waiting like everybody else

this is what it says:
___F - FINANCIAL EVIDENCE:______________________________________The NVC has received the requested Immigrant Visa Application (DS-230). However, we are stillwaiting for the response to the checklist letter for the Affidavit of Support (Form I-864). Please returnthe requested information so that we may complete the processing of your case. When responding to the National Visa Center, please include the bar code sheet that came with thisletter. Failure to include the bar code sheet may cause a delay in the processing of your case. The barcode sheet should be placed on top of all documents being submitted for this case and mailed to theaddress provided.[J1W 11/25/2013]when I called NVC the guy just told me that the computer automatically sent it -
Please keep in mind, there's a HUGE difference between online forms and electronic processing (EP). Everyone is required to fill out online forms now, but EP is still only available to a few select countries.
Online forms = DS-261 and DS-260 filled out online
EP = emailing the AOS and IV packages
If your country requires passport clearance (like India, for example), then it goes in the IV package.
Looks like a false checklist based on them reviewing (and most likely accepting) the AOS package. Call up NVC to confirm.
A false checklist just means they reviewed (and typically approved) that package. Has your other package been approved yet?
The IV fee has NOTHING to do with the AOS fee. They're two separate tracks. The IV fee is only invoiced after the DS-261 is received and added to the case file. When did you complete the DS-261?
well, so far nothing has been approved, I have paid/ submitted everything. I submitted my AOS package beginning October, and beginning November received a checklist for leaving address field blank. Also, The IV package and the DS 260 form was submitted end of October. Could this finally mean that they re working on my stuff????????

I just received today a fake checklist (I called and they told to me disregard it), and I was wandering, if that is a good news, such as they are working on my case or nothing. Those of you who have gotten a fake checklist was your case finished shortly after you received it???

Does it on average take between 20-30 days at NVC to review the case (aos & IV) or is it less than that?? I also had a (very) stupid checklist for leaving the address field blank, because I followed THEIR instructions. I submitted everything including the checklist (I-864ez) on Nov. 6, any chance that they will process this by december??? what are you experiences so far?? also, my wife is in Bosnia, what would be average waiting time for an interview there???? c'mon somebody say something positive about NVC

Beginning October I sent my AOS package, and last week they told me that I need to fill out a new I-184ez out, because I left part 3 blank where it asks for residence address IF DIFFERENT than mailing address. Well, since the address is the same I didn't fill it out, so anyhow I filled out new I-184 form out and mailed it right away last week, so my question is am I going to wait now again up to 30 days because of this or is going to go little faster this time???? Anybody had this happen to them???

What does a person (beneficiary) need to bring to the embassy/consulate of documents for an interview? What do they usually ask for? I have applied for the cr1. thx

I paid the AOS fee, did the ds-261, but they still haven't reviewed the AOS package. How long does it usually take to review AOS package? Can the IV fee be paid and IV doc's submitted if the AOS hasn't been completed?
-
quick question guys, as soon as person is able to pay the IV bill he/she can submit the NVC paperwork just as with the AOS package????
-
well I solved the first problem, my computer was blocking pop ups and every time i clicked to print document cover sheet, it blocked it.
I assume I can send the AOS package separately from the IV package, since the latter one is not ready, right? Any mailing preferences usps or dhl/ups, etc.??
-
guys please help me with this. I paid my AOS fee, and now it shows that it;s paid, I read on some posts that I need to print a barcoded sheet, but the only thing I get is my receipt that I paid. How do I obtain that bar coded sheet, because I would like to send my package tomorrow (friday)??? Also, where do I obtain the mailing address????

Guys, I just paid the AOS fee, and printed the receipt. Also, my I received an e mail from NVC that my wife is supposed to submit the DS-261 form online. Once my wife submits that form, what can or should I do? Do I collect all the paperwork that is needed for AOS package and submit it or wait till the IV invoice is paid?

It may sound stupid or strange but can I (petitioner) fill out the ds-261 instead of my spouse (beneficiary) due to a language barrier? Since the form is now online, and I'll be making the payments anyway, will they know, and would this be a problem?? THANKS

what is the link to that portal??

Hey guys,
I found out today that my case has been received from USCIS and they also gave me a case #. They told me over the phone they I will receive a letter in the mail with instructions.
1. What should I do next (immediately)? Do I have to wait for those instructions or can I do something before I receive that letter?
2. What are usually the steps once a case # has been assigned?
3. Any other suggestions/recommendations are welcomed.
Thanks in advance

I'll tell you what I did few months ago since I had the same issue. I got married in Dec '12, (my wife is still overseas) and when taxes needed to be filed I asked my tax agent/accountant what to do, he said to file for ITIN number for my spouse and to file married. Filing for an ITIN 2 documents are needed, they will be returned, my wife sent me her ID card and Birth certificate, which is being send together with some paperwork (ask your tax preparer) to Texas. Shortly I received my money
and the doc's

thx guys, I really appreciate your help. besides collecting paperwork, what else do you advise me and my wife (who is overseas) to do?????
-
thx guys, this is what I was looking for. correct me if I am wrong, I can do few things on my own, i.e. collect /prepare doc's but the majority of it can only be done when I receive the letter from NVC?
Also, my NOA2 was on 8/15, should I wait one week before I call NVC, and the main thing to ask them is to give me that case #, right?
-
thx unsmiley, it is helpful, what I would like to know is what is it that I can do at this moment to collect from papers/documents, to be somewhat ready when the NVC sends me required docs. Like the tax transcripts, letter from employer, etc.
-
VJ community, I need some help/advice from those who already been thru this. I filed the I-130, and few days ago received NOA2
, so what I'd like to do is be somewhat ready and do my best to speed up the process (if possible). Could you please tell me what I need to put/gather in terms of documents, step by step, and also what my spouse who is overseas needs to fill out/do. THX

You know what I will call them now and see what they say, BUT I didn't ask them if the ds - 260 was approved. Are you telling me that if they approve ds-260 the case is complete or I would still have to wait for the IV and AOS to be approved as well???????
by the way' I never thanked you for your replies Saylin, THANKS A LOT
