FD&MDVL got a reaction from TwoChickies in what if its denied
Well I found myself back on the website and I can tell you about ONE scenario, at our interview last August my wife's case was approved but my stepdaughters case was denied and I was given a 221g, after waiting 2 years 8 months and three days, we made a difficult decision but my wife and biological daughter came home with me and our stepdaughter went to live with her grandmother while we worked on the 221g.
The same day of the interview I spoke to an attorney in Honduras, an attorney whom I had worked with several times in the past and is capable - we estimated it shouldn't be that long, well working on the documents needed getting sworn statements and apostille stamps etc etc- months were going by now.
Another difficult decision was made but an inevitable decision that my wife and daughter return to Honduras to be with our oldest daughter - we sad NO MORE Than 6 months, well 6 months came and they left to go back to Honduras, the same week that they left, the attorney finally told me he has exhausted all efforts and can not get me what I need- THE SAME day I got that email from him I went BACK to my Congressman's office - I had been there once before more than a year ago, and I updated him on my situation and we have come up with a NEW PLAN-- so I am still working on that DREADED 221g.
the bright side is I am gaining all sorts of knowledge and experience in this process, and hearing different stories one thing is for certain- EACH CASE IS AS UNIQUE as a fingerprint and all you can do is prepare and do your best. fortunately an attorney in Honduras is not as expensive as one in the USA, but application fees and traveling expenses that would not be necessary if we didn't have any delays are growing-- it is an expensive adventure - and the more delays the more expensive for me anyway.....
first post in a while- I have TIME on my hands again now that I am not spending time with my family- Our three year old was in preschool for 6 months, she was acclimating very well in the USA learning English and doing great- I can only hope and pray that we are just weeks away from a resolution as my congressman said....
My situation is unique so it should not SCARE you.

    Home at last...
wont be checking in too often-- but the information and advice from this website was the best - anywhere---
    we arrived home yesterday evening----
so much to catch up on--
daughter enrolled in Pre K today- she starts Monday.... ( three shots later.. ouch)

    MISSION ACCOMPLISHED-
Tonite I can rest a little easier- although passing some of these milestones have also been satisfying...
Our Passport is "ready for pickup"
so Tomorrow (Sunday) - we rest- early start Monday checking out, picking up Visa and bus ride back to SPS. One more night in Honduras- we will go back to the same hotel we were at and spend the day at the pool-- late flight Tuesday night and arrive Wed AM.
It is all kind of surreal and a little disappointing because we will be shy of one family member but- that will not be anywhere near as difficult to solve.
I must admit- I am celebrating -- hard to stop smiling...
    what a journey..

Had the interview yesterday- wifes case approved, stepdaughters case still pending...
waiting on delivery via cargo express-- if we had the interview a month ago the system was different you picked it up in person the following day- now you MUST use cargo express--
The Consular officer said that he would do everything he could to get the passport out so we can catch our flight next Tue evening--
I am returning to USA / (work) with my wife and daughter finally... Our oldest daughter will follow soon after - she vacationing with grandma for a month or two until we clear up her papers...
the whole thing has always been so ANTI - climatic-- two steps forward one step back...
best advice I can give is memorize the serenity prayer and use it daily.

I agree- NOT good- but things happen for reasons--
all along I been making lemonade--
I have grown through this process- rolling with the punches--
not easy but I carry the serenity prayer with me in times of need.
You cant make this stuff up- reality is stranger than fiction, I MUST write this all down someday soon. although I don't think I will ever forget the delays and delays and delays.

FYI, CEAC does not always show the latest information. For my wife's case, it still shows Administrative Processing, even though I received an e-mail from ustraveldocs over 8 hours ago saying that her passport would be sent today, and then I learned from the courier (Pony Express) website that it was picked up from the embassy almost 4 hours ago. So now it's in transit, and I feel much better.
Here's something I found helpful. You can send an e-mail to: passportstatus@ustraveldocs.com, and just put the passport number in the subject line (nothing else in the subject or body of e-mail). You then get a pretty quick auto-reply that tells you what's happening. Earlier today, I received, "Your passport is still with post." But now, I get, "In Transit From Post."
But CEAC still says Administrative Processing...

CASE COMPLETE- checklist cost me 23 days
actually I feel anticlimactic - been so stressed - honestly will not relax until after I have an interview date and have my plane ticket purchased- I am going to the interview and reunite my family -- I am allowing 10 days to button everything up there and bring them back with me.
but -- having a case complete is another notch in my timeline--
    the whole process is horrible.
