pivery got a reaction from Hotter Otter in 5 Things I've Learnt About the US Immigration Process
Very well put Hotter Otter. It will definitely make or break your relationship and sadly many relationships end up going overboard from waiting forever and spending more money than some even have. But yes well worth it in the end.
B.T.W. I like the little piece you have by The Smiths there at the bottom - great band!

pivery got a reaction from Ebunoluwa in Can our visa be denied because we called the congressman after 3 months waiting for I 130?
I agree that questioning someone being "American Enough" or silliness along those lines is not really something needed here. I am an American and will ask questions regardless of how silly they may come across to someone bored that needs to give their opinion of someone on the forum here unseen.
Nice to see questions asked and answered however they come off as - after all, we are all here for the same thing.

pivery got a reaction from thedude6752000 in Inhumane
Inhumane is a very appropriate description of this whole process. I too scratch my head and wonder why it takes so long. If USCIS and NVC is so backed up, well we have quite a few people out of work - hire some of them!
I wouldn't have minded if it was the 5-7 month time frame it used to be but now it's closing on 1 year for us and for some couples behind us, it's taking over a year - yikes!

pivery got a reaction from BOS_LHR in A word of advice make sure spouse attends interview
As my wife and I are a married couple until the end and have been together since 2008, I couldn't imagine not being there with her after all we have been through to get to this point. For those who cannot afford it or take the time off I guess I could understand, but I can only say that my being there whether I could afford it or not is not any issue whatsoever and knowing this was going to come to pass I made sure that going there is a possiblility.
I want to be there, my wife wants me there and we are a couple through good and bad. So if she gets denied for some silly reason, I want the interviewer to know I am a part of my wife's life - approval or not.

pivery got a reaction from James&Edlie in dont want to wait another 4 or 5 months
I feel for you and completely understand how you are feeling. I cannot believe how long this whole thing takes. I also don't understand why they just don't hire more people with all the unemployment we have here. It makes your relationship stronger but it also puts it under alot of stress too. I Skype with my wife every day and try to visit every few months until she gets approved and can come to the states but it's obviously not the same as living together.
We're all suffering, so please keep that in mind when making any decisions. The people handling our paperwork ought to be ashamed of themselves to keep couples waiting so long. Hang in there!
