Hey guys
Just updating.
Husband had his interview on the 11th. VISA APPROVED (found out as soon as the interview was over)!!

Many thanks to VJ for being a HUGE support and all the help!!
They didn't ask for ANY paperwork from him that day - other than proof of marriage issuance (certificate) from the church. No photos, No I-864, No additional paperwork! STRANGE!! But who is complaining!!!!
:-)
Good luck to all of y'all who is going through this process!!
Let me know if I can be of any help!!

One of my friends got a case complete on July 19th...she received an interview date for September 2nd. Her consulate is Bombay (India!). So..the spreadsheet seems REALLY accurate - anywhere from 40-50 days from CC to Interview date!!
Fam! Hubby's interview is in less than 12 hours! A personal tidbit about me, I love me some Michael Hutchence and this song is all I can listen to today - the lyrics fit for what's about to go down tomorrow morning, especially the last one "All my troubles soon be leaving" :-)
Good luck to y'all!!! Sending lotsa prayers and best wishes your way!! :-)

No. In BOMBAY. I'm just not sure when I can expect an interview date - Indian embassies are known to be uber busy!!

Hey guys - How do we know that our DS-261 and AOS packet has been accepted?
Actually, just got an email from NVC that I (the petitioner) has been assigned as the agent, so I assume they have accepted my DS-261?
Yup...and ditto!! ;-) Things are finally moving!!
Hoorrayy!! :-) -
So..finally...AOS fees shows PAID.
Sending AOS package today!! :-)

Hey guys - For those that meet the 125% poverty guideline, did you also declare assets as well on your I-864? I'm not sure if I should because I'm well above the minimum requirement and they mentioned that it's not required if you are, but just seeing what everyone else did.
I didn't. It says that you don't need to.

For those of you who are waiting on the PAID status - here is an explanation of what happens with your payment - and why it might be delayed...
1. When you fill out your payment form, you give them your bank number and your account.
2. NVC collects all your payment information and formats it into a standard "transaction" - essentially a "go to this bank and take out this money"
3. NVC (most likely) sends these transactions in a "batch" or, a collection of similar transactions. These batches probably are transmitted several times per day - but not on a one-on-one basis (again, most likely).
4. The "batches" are transmitted to the Automated Clearing House (ACH). Think of it as central warehouse where ALL transactions from ALL banks, ATMs, companies, and individuals end up on a daily basis. The ACH sorts the transactions by the bank number, creates a "batch" of all the transactions, and then, at some point during the night, sends the batches to the respective financial organization.
5. The banks do their thing - debiting your account, and creating a return "transaction" that goes back to the ACH. This batch will have both successful and non-successful transfer information.
6. The ACH then sorts the transactions again - this time by recipient (in our case, NVC), and sends a batch transaction, with all the individual information, back to NVC.
7. NVC then has to apply all those transactions to our individual accounts so that their system has us marked as "PAID".
If NVC has a problem in their system where they cannot receive the batch from the ACH, OR, they cannot apply the individual transaction data to each account, there will, most likely, be a 24-hour delay. The transaction data program is probably only run once a night (after ACH sends the data back). If that program blows up, then it has to be run the NEXT night. And, they will have to run the batches in date order - which might delay stuff down the line. If they have two days' worth of transactions, they'll try to catch up by running the "apply" program twice in one night. IF they have enough time before the online systems have to come back up.
If NVC uses satellite reception (instead of, say, fiber optic cable), then the high winds we've had over the past two days might have meant that they didn't get the WHOLE batch data from the ACH. The "batch" has a header and a footer (the first transaction is a summary, and the last transaction is a summary - they have to receive both of these transactions for the batch to be complete).
I don't know what is REALLY going on at NVC. But this is an explanation of how the banking system works for automated transactions like our payments.

No doubt that it is very complicated..but as I was reading through it..I was like 'hmmph...this goes there..that goes there...this needs to be sent there..it's only a day's job!'! Everything looked so easy...!! :-D! [because of the way you explained it..of course!!]
I know that it is not!!
:D Only can only hope!! -
Paid the AOS fee today morning. Shows as ' IN PROGRESS'!! Will be sending out the application packet soon!! :-)
-
still cant pay this damn IV fee

I can TOTALLY relate. I am on the same boat. We are all in this together...hang in there!!
-
You should get it in a few days...and welcome fellow May filer! It will all be over soon

Thank you.
I have a question. I usually have my tax filed by one of my father's friends (so does the rest of our family). He has filed me as 'single' rather than married. Now..I am super worried that it is going to affect our process in the long run. My father has talked to the guy, and he said that there is no issue in doing so..as my husband is not here and has done this in the past. I am UBER worried and has even had an argument with my father that...this is not the case. My father reports that a few people who has had their spouse come through recently from abroad also filed as 'single' status.
My question is...what shall I do at this point? Amend my tax return? Or..should I try my luck?!!!
Ahhh...I can literally see my hair falling out!!

Just got an email regarding my NVC case number and my IIN. I had those already.
And an hour later, got an email asking me to pay the AOS fee. I'll gladly do so..if it were available!! Still can't pay. Will keep y'all updated.
Gosh..so happy that there is movement (even if it is at a SNAIL rate)! :-)
Also..very happy to see those 'Case Completed' status. I can totally relate and empathize with all of y'all. I feel blessed to be part of this family where we are helping each other out!! :-)

Still can't fill out D-261

You will be able to..soon. Trust me. I understand the frustration. My case number was officially generated on April 15th. I just completed DS-261 today.
Yours is coming. :-)
-
Wait until you pay the AOS fee. The cover page with the barcode is generated when you pay. I would also wait until the money is debited from your account or you see it pending from your account so you know there are no errors with the payment.
Thanks. Makes sense. :-)

It has only been 5 since we got our NOA 2 I know the wiki instructions say to call once a week until the file is received at the NVC. Realistically how long should I actually wait until I call to inquiry about the case?
I concur with the post above. Look at my timeline. So...
--they approve NOA2
--then..they ship...
--then..I donno...it takes 2-3 weeks for NVC to receive it???
--then..a few weeks before a case number is generated
SLOWEST SYSTEM EVER!!
If you have been the unlucky kind like me...the above takes almost 2 months.
I've been so stressed that I'm getting a massage tomorrow.
So will I be calling the NVC phone number to check on my status or the Department of State number?
NVC

I'm going to bump what I posted before in case it was lost:
I just received the email saying that our approved case was shipped today (4/23) to the Department of State for visa processing. Is there any difference between cases that are shipped the NVC and the cases that are shipped to the Department of State?

Same thing.

DS 261 completed!!
Tried to pay the FEES..but..this came up.. "This case is in the process of termination. Fee payments and online forms can no longer be accepted. If you believe you have received this message in error, or to resume processing of the case, please contact the NVC immediately."
But I know that they are just inputting the case to the site...thanks to the VJ family. :-)
I've been reading the wiki page by Saylin and everyone else's posts religiously. THANK YOU GUYS for all that you have done.
A clarification...I need to wait until I pay the AOS fee..(so that a barcode is generated)...to send in the packet???
Thanks again y'all!!

Gosh..got the case number and IIN. Arthur said that I have to wait 20 days from today to have invoice uploaded. This is killing me!!!!!
